Ni interlayers were introduced prior to dissimilar friction welding of Ti6Al4V base material to three cemented carbide substrates. The fracture strength of Ti6Al4V/(WC-6 wt% Co) welds were poor and were markedly improved when 20-µm thick Ni interlayers were introduced prior to dissimilar friction welding. These results were only produced when the (WC-6 wt% Co) cermet was electroplated prior to friction welding. When the Ti6Al4V alloy was electroplated prior to friction welding, fractured WC particles and cracking were observed in the (WC-Co) carbide substrate. The fracture strengths of Ti6Al4V/(WC-11 wt% Co) and Ti6Al4V/(WC-24 wt% Co) welds were not improved when 20-µm thick Ni interlayers were introduced prior to friction welding. During mechanical testing, the Ni layer retained at the dissimilar joint interface created a region of weakness.  相似文献

In this paper, we present a new methodology for analysis of all-optical fiber-optic code-division multiple-access (FO-CDMA) networks. In this analysis, we propose statistical models, based on photon-counting techniques, for some basic elements of the network, such as splitters, combiners, star couplers, and FO-CDMA passive encoders/decoders. By following the statistical variation of the photon-count of the string of pulses that constitutes the address sequence in an FO-CDMA network, we will be able to reveal the quantum-limited optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR) required at the transmitter output to meet the performance limits. Moreover, considering receiver thermal noise and source extinction ratio, we explore the role of using an optical preamplifier before the detector and the dependence of the performance on the transmitted power and the weight of the employed optical orthogonal codes (OOCs).  相似文献

The effect of thermal annealing on the electrical and optical characteristics of ITO films prepared by reactive sputtering and thermal evaporation have been studied. The effect of the thermal annealing is to improve the conductivity and the optical transmission in the shorter wavelength region. The conductivity of the films increases with annealing temperature, this behaviour is associated with grain growth in the film.  相似文献

Nanocomposites are more widely studied today because of higher stiffness, decreased permeability, thermal stability, and many other properties superior to those of regular polymers. However, manufacturers are concerned about implementing nanocomposites because of their lower impact properties with respect to the base polymer. This study focused on low‐velocity impact tests of a thermoplastic olefin by itself and with 5 wt % nanoclay. The impact tests were conducted at ?40, 23.9, and 65.6°C until the polymer and nanocomposite plates experienced complete striker penetration. The force–time and force–deflection responses obtained from the impact testing provided a means of comparing the impact performances of the two materials. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this article, the design and realization of waveguide filter with improved stop‐band response is presented. By inserting transversal slots at the proper position of cavities, without disturbing the field distribution of the dominant mode, the second longitudinal resonant modes are radiated out. This caused the out‐of‐band frequency response of the filter to be improved. The validity of the proposed technique is confirmed by comparison between measurement values and simulation results from the finite element method through the commercial software (high frequency structure simulator). Computer-aided process planning (CAPP) is an important interface between computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) in the computer integrated manufacturing (CIM) environment. A good process plan of a part is built up based on two elements: (1) optimized sequence of the operations of the part; and (2) optimized selection of the machine, cutting tool and tool access direction (TAD) for each operation. On the other hand, two levels of planning in the process planning is suggested: (1) preliminary and (2) secondary and detailed planning. In this paper for the preliminary stage, the feasible sequences of operations are generated based on the analysis of constraints and using a genetic algorithm (GA). Then in the detailed planning stage, using a genetic algorithm again which prunes the initial feasible sequences, the optimized operations sequence and the optimized selection of the machine, cutting tool, and TAD for each operation are obtained. By applying the proposed GA in two levels of planning, the CAPP system can generate optimal or near-optimal process plans based on a selected criterion. A number of case studies are carried out to demonstrate the feasibility and robustness of the proposed algorithm. This algorithm performs well on all the test problems, exceeding or matching the solution quality of the results reported in the literature for most problems. The main contribution of this work is to emerge the preliminary and detailed planning, implementation of compulsive and additive constraints, optimization sequence of the operations of the part, and optimization selection of machine, cutting tool and TAD for each operation using the proposed GA, simultaneously.  相似文献

Using structural and nonstructural measures for flood damage reduction is a long-standing problem in water resources planning and management. In the present study, an algorithm is presented for the optimal design of structural and nonstructural flood mitigation measures based on simulation-based optimization approach. For this purpose, the MIKE-11 simulation model, a one-dimensional hydrodynamic model, was used to calculate the potential damages of different flood scenarios under the various combinations of structural and nonstructural measures and this model was coupled with the NSGA-II multi-objective optimization model to provide the optimal Pareto solutions between two conflict objectives of minimizing the investment costs of flood mitigation measures and the potential damages of the floodplain. The proposed model was then applied to a small watershed in central part of Iran as a case study and the optimal trade-off solutions were calculated for different flood scenarios. Using these trade-offs, for each level of funding, decision makers can assign the optimal design of flood mitigation measures considering decision criteria.  相似文献

A steady, two-dimensional numerical model was created to study the hydrodynamics of a rectangular sedimentation basin under turbulent conditions. The strip integral method was used to formulate the flow equations, using a forward marching scheme for solving the governing partial differential equations of continuity, momentum, advection–diffusion, turbulent kinetic energy, and its dissipation. In this way the flow equations were converted to a set of ordinary differential equations (ODEs) in terms of the key physical parameters. These parameters, along with a set of shape functions, describe flow variables including the velocity, the concentration of suspended sediments, and both the kinetic energy and its dissipation rate. Four Gaussian distributions were investigated, one corresponding to each flow parameter. In order to calculate the turbulent shear stresses, a two-equation turbulence model (i.e., k-ε model) was used. A fourth order Runge–Kutta method numerically integrates the set of ODEs. Simulation results were compared with experimental data, and close agreement (generally within 5–10%) was observed.  相似文献
