The drive for cost reduction has led to the use of CMOS technology in the implementation of highly integrated radios. This paper presents a single-chip 5-GHz fully integrated direct conversion transceiver for IEEE 802.11a WLAN systems, manufactured in 0.18-/spl mu/m CMOS. The IC features an innovative system architecture which takes advantage of the computing resources of the digital companion chip in order to eliminate I/Q mismatch and achieve accurately matched baseband filters. The integrated voltage-controlled oscillator and synthesizer achieve an integrated phase noise of less than 0.8/spl deg/ rms. The receiver has an overall noise figure of 5.2 dB and achieves sensitivity of -75 dBm at 54-Mb/s operation, both referred to the IC input. The transmit error vector magnitude is -33 dB at -5-dBm output power from the integrated power-amplifier driver amplifier. The transceiver occupies an area of 18.5 mm/sup 2/.  相似文献

METIS-II was an EU-FET MT project running from October 2004 to September 2007, which aimed at translating free text input without resorting to parallel corpora. The idea was to use “basic” linguistic tools and representations and to link them with patterns and statistics from the monolingual target-language corpus. The METIS-II project has four partners, translating from their “home” languages Greek, Dutch, German, and Spanish into English. The paper outlines the basic ideas of the project, their implementation, the resources used, and the results obtained. It also gives examples of how METIS-II has continued beyond its lifetime and the original scope of the project. On the basis of the results and experiences obtained, we believe that the approach is promising and offers the potential for development in various directions.  相似文献

The exact dependence of wear factor on contact stress, load and apparent contact area is much disputed in the literature. This study attempts to solve this dispute. Pin-on-plate studies of ultra high molecular weight polyethylene against stainless steel were conducted under different combinations of load (33-250 N), nominal stress (0.56-12.73 MPa) and face diameter, as well as two tests where both stress and load were kept constant, while the diameter was changed. For these tests the centre of the pin face was bored out to create four different average pin diameters with similar face areas. Diameter and load were found to have no significant effect on the wear factor, while the wear factor decreased with increasing contact stress according to the relation K = 2 x 10(-6) sigma(-0.84).  相似文献

Explosive shock-wave consolidation has been used to fabricate a composite consisting of gamma phase titanium aluminide matrix reinforced with paniculate silicon carbide. Although the consolidation process takes less than a microsecond to complete, melting of the surfaces of the titanium aluminide powder particles results in a reaction with the silicon carbide. Titanium suicide and titanium carbide form in the molten zone, depleting it of titanium to the extent that its final composition is TiAl3. In addition, a second titanium suicide phase forms on the surfaces of the silicon carbide particles. Hyperbolic systems of first order partial differential equations in two dependent and two independent variables are studied from the point of view of their local geometry. We illustrate an earlier result on such systems, which derived a complete set of local invariants for the class of systems which are (2,2)-Darboux integrable on the 1-jets, by explicitly computing the tangential characteristic symmetries of a certain Fermi–Pasta–Ulam equation. As a consequence we reduce its associated intrinsic hyperbolic structure to Vessiot normal form and prove that this equation may be regarded as an ordinary differential equation on ℜ2. This result has a far reaching generalisation in which the well known local linearisation of this equation by a hodograph transformation is shown to be a special case of a theorem due to Vessiot. This is further illustrated by studying the Born-Infeld system of Arik, Neyzi, Nutku, Olver and Verosky and the s = 0 Liouville system of Bryant, Griffiths and Hsu. It is shown that the latter may be regarded as an ordinary differential equation on the Lie group of affine transformations of the real line. The pathogenesis of sepsis involves complex interactions and a systemic inflammatory response leading eventually to multiorgan failure. Autotaxin (ATX, ENPP2) is a secreted glycoprotein largely responsible for the extracellular production of lysophosphatidic acid (LPA), which exerts multiple effects in almost all cell types through its at least six G-protein-coupled LPA receptors (LPARs). Here, we investigated a possible role of the ATX/LPA axis in sepsis in an animal model of endotoxemia as well as in septic patients. Mice with 50% reduced serum ATX levels showed improved survival upon lipopolysaccharide (LPS) stimulation compared to their littermate controls. Similarly, mice bearing the inducible inactivation of ATX and presenting with >70% decreased ATX levels were even more protected against LPS-induced endotoxemia; however, no significant effects were observed upon the chronic and systemic transgenic overexpression of ATX. Moreover, the genetic deletion of LPA receptors 1 and 2 did not significantly affect the severity of the modelled disease, suggesting that alternative receptors may mediate LPA effects upon sepsis. In translation, ATX levels were found to be elevated in the sera of critically ill patients with sepsis in comparison with their baseline levels upon ICU admission. Therefore, the results indicate a role for ATX in LPS-induced sepsis and suggest possible therapeutic benefits of pharmacologically targeting ATX in severe, systemic inflammatory disorders.  相似文献

Digital video reception is emerging as the latest feature toward multimedia-enriched handheld devices. Mobile battery-operated devices require small-size tuners that consume low power and are amenable to single-chip integration with the baseband demodulator. Following an overview of the system and circuit-level implementation challenges of mobile TV standards such as DVB-H and T-DMB, this article presents a dual-band direct conversion tuner for DVB-H. Architecture and circuit trade-offs are discussed, and detailed measurements are presented. The tuner occupies 9.7 mm2 and achieves a 4 dB NF at both UHF and L-band, eliminating the need for an external LNA. By using a fractional-TV synthesizer both 470-890 MHz and 1.4-1.8 GHz bands are supported, while achieving an integrated phase noise of less than -41 dBc. Systematic reuse of software has been proposed as a promising means to address the legendary productivity increase in software development. While object-oriented programming languages are, by nature, well suited for reusability-based development of applications, additional mechanisms to effectively reuse software are necessary. We present a novel language-independent method, which assumes an appropriately organized software repository and employs a simple form of Case-Based Reasoning in conjunction with the specificity-genericity hierarchy tolocate and possiblyadopt software to particular specifications. The method focuses on code reuse and addresses the evolving nature of the repository. Complexity issues for the main algorithms are presented. Finally, a demonstrator prototype system for reusing object-oriented code (C++) is described.  相似文献
