BACKGROUND: A sequential batch reactor (SBR) was used for eucalypt kraft pulp effluent treatment with Trametes versicolor. A 23 full factorial design and response surface methodology were applied to optimise the batch fermentation conditions. Effluent concentration, culture medium and inoculum age were the factors selected for this study in order to optimise the reduction of chemical oxygen demand (COD). RESULTS: The presence of Trametes Defined Medium (TDM) in the fermentation was required to obtain a significant COD reduction. Experiments in the batch reactor confirmed, in general, the predicted results of optimisation developed from Erlenmeyer batch assays. The T. versicolor culture remained active during 42 days of study in the SBR, providing approximately 80% of COD reduction. CONCLUSION: Trametes versicolor may be considered as very promising for the biological treatment of effluents from kraft pulp mills in an SBR system instead of the activated sludge mixed cultures traditionally used. Crowdsourcing offers great opportunities to recognise user context and prescribe relevant services for both offline and real-time activities. In this work, we present a zoning model that leverages spatio-temporal dimensions and then employs different contexts to recommend necessary customised services. The context model takes into consideration three context sets: fully restricted, fully unrestricted and semi-restricted with respect to both spatial and temporal dimensions. As a proof of concept, we apply this zoning model in a scenario where a very large crowd get together to perform spatio-temporal activities. The user context of the heterogeneous crowd is captured using the carried smartphones, i.e. via crowdsourcing. Depending on the context sets and zone, the system can recommend a set of services to each user. The system has been deployed since 2014 to support the spatio-temporal activities of a very large crowd. We present our implementation details and the user feedback, which is very encouraging.  相似文献

A new method to quantify the eavesdropper’s accessible information on continuous variable quantum key distribution for protocols implementing homodyne and heterodyne detections is introduced. We have derived upper bounds for the eavesdropping collective attacks on general continuous variable quantum key distribution protocols. Our focus is especially on deriving bounds which are Gaussian optimal for Eve collective attacks that involve non maximally entanglement (i.e. Alice and Bob use non maximally entangled states or non-Gaussian modulation for their quantum key distribution protocols). The new bounds derived are tight for all continuous variable quantum key distribution protocols. We show that the eavesdropper’s accessible information is independent of the initial correlation between Alice and Bob modes in reverse reconciliation scheme, while in direct reconciliation scheme, Eve information is given as a function of Alice and Bob initial correlation.  相似文献

Abstract

Time-dependent (numerical) results are presented for super-radiant behaviour in the Dicke model of N a = 2, 3 atoms in a broad band squeezed vacuum. This concerns the fluctuations and the intensity of the fluorescent radiation as well as the atomic population inversion of the system with atoms initially in an atomic coherent state. In the steady state, and in the N a → ∞, we show that the ‘atomic’ Dicke model behaves like a ‘giant quantum oscillator’, in which the number of excited atoms asymptotically approaches the average number of photons in the resonant mode of the squeezed vacuum, just as in the thermally driven case.  相似文献

Abstract

It is shown that some 17 Rydberg Na atoms initially placed into a coherent atomic state and super-radiating into a low-Q microwave cavity at temperatures T ? 0·4 K will show modest squeezing in the fluorescence field, the squeezing arising from terms oscillating at twice the cavity frequency. It is also shown that similar numbers of Rydberg atoms undergoing resonance fluorescence in a coherent single-mode microwave driving field and without any cavity will show more substantial squeezing in the fluorescence field.  相似文献
