We conducted a multi-site late phase II trial of oral etoposide administered for 21 consecutive days in patients with cervical cancer in cooperation with 32 institutes. Fifty mg/body of oral etoposide was administered daily for 21 consecutive days. Treatment cycles were to be repeated at 4- to 5-week intervals. Eighty patients were enrolled and 70 patients were evaluated. The overall response rate (95% CI), including one complete response patient and 18 partial response patients, was 27.1% (19/70). The most commonly observed toxicity was myelosuppression such as leukopenia, neutropenia, hemoglobin decrease and thrombocytopenia. Other adverse effects were gastrointestinal toxicities such as anorexia, nausea, stomatitis and vomiting, as well as fatigue and alopecia. These adverse effects were well tolerated and controlled with medications. From these results we concluded oral etoposide administered for 21 consecutive days was an effective drug against cervical cancer. 相似文献

This paper describes the optimum design, fabrication, and performance of a 1.3-μm multiple-quantum-well (MQW) laser diode monolithically integrated with a tapered thickness spot-size transformer. The dependence of the lasing characteristics on the thickness distribution of the core layer and on the current injection profile of the device were analyzed. This integrated laser with its optimized structure performed at a low threshold current of 22.2 mA, even at 85°C. The integrated spot-size transformer effectively reduced the lateral and vertical far-field FWHM's to 8° and 9°, respectively. In response to chemoattractants, migrating cells form protrusions, such as lamellipodia and filopodia, and structures, such as ruffles over lamellipodia, focal complexes and focal adhesions at leading edges. The formation of these leading edge structures is essential for directional cell movement. Nectin-like molecule-5 (Necl-5) interacts in cis with PDGF receptor and integrin alpha(v)beta(3), and enhances the activation of signalling molecules associated with these transmembrane proteins, which results in the formation of leading edge structures and enhancement of directional cell movement. When migrating cells come into contact with each other, cell-cell adhesion is initiated, resulting in reduced cell velocity. Necl-5 first interacts in trans with nectin-3. This interaction is transient and induces down-regulation of Necl-5 expression at the cell surface, resulting in reduced cell movement. Cell proliferation is also suppressed by the down-regulation of Necl-5, because the inhibitory effect of Necl-5 on Sprouty2, a negative regulator of the Ras signalling, is diminished. PDGF receptor and integrin alpha(v)beta(3), which have interacted with Necl-5, then form a complex with nectin, which initiates cell-cell adhesion and recruits cadherin to the nectin-based cell-cell adhesion sites to form stable adherens junctions. The formation of adherens junctions stops cell movement, in part through inactivation of integrin alpha(v)beta(3) caused by the trans-interaction of nectin. Processability at extrusion coating and mechanical properties of the films obtained are investigated by means of linear and nonlinear rheological measurements and tensile tests for blends of polypropylene (PP) and linear low‐density polyethylene (LLDPE). Both materials are produced by metallocene catalyst. The processability of PP is found to be improved by the addition of LLDPE; the blend shows low level of motor torque and head pressure in an extruder and small level of neck‐in as compared with pure PP. Further, the anisotropy of ultimate tensile strength, which is prominent for PP, is reduced by blending with LLDPE. As a result, the blend having 20 wt % of LLDPE shows appropriate properties in the molten state for extrusion coating and in the solid state as a film. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In a previous study, we found that oral chromium nicotinate overcame sucrose-induced hypertension in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR). Accordingly, we examined more chromium compounds to determine if others were more or less effective in regulating blood pressure (BP) of SHR. Since chromium is postulated to be an antioxidant, we also assessed the ability of different chromium compounds to alter free radical formation measured by determining thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS). The control group of SHR ingested a diet low in chromium, and 5 other groups ate the same diet with various chromium compounds added at 5 ppm-chloride, acetate, nicotinic acid-glycine-cysteine-glutamic acid (NA-AA), picolinate, and nicotinate. Following this, the rats were challenged with drinking water containing 5% and 10% w/v sucrose. Except for NA-AA, all chromium compounds inhibited the sucrose-induced elevation of systolic BP; and acetate, picolinate, and nicotinate chromium compounds lowered HbAIC below control. Only chromium acetate and nicotinate significantly lowered both hepatic and renal TBARS. Chromium picolinate lowered hepatic TBARS, and chromium chloride and NA-AA lowered neither. We conclude that chromium, rather than a specific ligand, plays a major role in ameliorating sucrose-induced BP elevations and can act as an antioxidant. 相似文献

The chromosomal location of the human gene for the alpha subunit of interleukin-5 receptor (IL5RA) has been determined. The human IL5RA gene was localized to the short arm of chromosome 3 by Southern blot analysis of DNA from a panel of mouse-human hybrid somatic cell lines. The IL5RA gene has been further localized to human chromosome region 3p24-3p26 by in situ hybridization of a molecularly cloned IL5RA cDNA fragment to metaphase chromosomes. The results suggest that the IL5RA locus is unlinked to other members of the hematopoietic receptor family. Assignment of the IL5RA gene to chromosome 3 at bands p26-p24 raises the possibility that it may be altered by certain nonrandom chromosomal abnormalities arising in human hematopoietic malignancies and solid tumors. 相似文献

We propose and demonstrate a novel 1.3 μm InGaAsP/InGaAsP multiple-quantum-well (MQW) BH Fabry-Perot laser diode monolithically integrated with a MQW tapered thickness waveguide. A selective area growth (SAG) technique is used to fabricate the tapered thickness waveguide with low absorption loss and to integrate it with the MQW gain region with a high coupling efficiency. We achieve very narrow vertical and lateral far-field FWHM of 11.8° and 8.0°, with low threshold current of 19 mA and high slope efficiency of 0.25 mW/mA 相似文献

Investigations were carried out to theoretically justify the increase in the microhardness of coatings produced by thermal spraying using a hydrogen–oxygen gas fuel mixture and an organic propane–butane addition as a result of the formation of the oxides of silicon, chromium, boron, and silicon, and boron carbide. The results show that the addition of propane–butane to the hydrogen–oxygen mixture increases the microhardness of coatings produced by thermal spraying. 相似文献

In order to obtain catalyzers to decompose tri-methyl aluminium (TMA) to Al and CH3 at catalyzer temperatures lower than 500 °C, decomposition experiments using Ni-Chrome, Kanthal, Inconel 600, Chromel and SUS-304 catalyzers exhibiting resistance to oxidation have been carried out. The experiments have revealed that TMA can be decomposed to Al and CH3 above 200 °C using Chromel or SUS-304 catalyzer, and that the CH3 does not decompose further below 500 °C. The experiments have also revealed that it requires relatively small activation energy for decomposing TMA to Al and CH3 using Chromel or SUS-304 as the catalyzer. 相似文献
