Energy coupled to matter (ECM) concepts such as magnetic field–assisted processing were used to align rare earth–doped alumina ceramics in the presence of applied fields. The addition of gadolinium and ytterbium dopants to alumina increased the magnetic susceptibility anisotropies, and induced magnetic torques that led to significant alignment of ceramic particles under the application of magnetic fields as low as 1.8?T. In comparison, undoped alumina materials showed minimal alignment under applied field strengths as high as 9?T. Density function theory modeling indicated that the specific dopant type dictated changes in the magnetic properties of different rare earth–doped alumina systems by directly affecting the magnetic moment localization and magnetocrystalline anisotropy. 相似文献

A recovery procedure has been developed to correct instrument line-shape distortions observed in Fourier transform spectroscopy. The procedure can be described as a phase-error correction performed in the spectral domain to correct for path-difference-dependent phase errors observed in sharp spectral features. The technique has been applied successfully to high-resolution atmospheric emission spectra. The inherent broadening of the real features has been separated accurately from instrumental distortions. Using models for the path-difference-dependent error sources and data from two narrow window regions at 50 and 118 cm(-1), we show that the distortion has a simple dependence on the spectral frequency. 相似文献

This work presents a distributed method for control centers to monitor the operating condition of a power network, i.e., to estimate the network state, and to ultimately determine the occurrence of threatening situations. State estimation has been recognized to be a fundamental task for network control centers to operate safely and reliably a power grid. We consider (static) state estimation problems, in which the state vector consists of the voltage magnitude and angle at all network buses. We consider the state to be linearly related to network measurements, which include power flows, current injections, and voltage phasors at some buses. We admit the presence of several cooperating control centers, and we design two distributed methods for them to compute the minimum variance estimate of the state, given the network measurements. The two distributed methods rely on different modes of cooperation among control centers: in the first method an incremental mode of cooperation is used, whereas, in the second method, a diffusive interaction is implemented. Our procedures, which require each control center to know only the measurements and the structure of a subpart of the whole network, are computationally efficient and scalable with respect to the network dimension, provided that the number of control centers also increases with the network cardinality. Additionally, a finite-memory approximation of our diffusive algorithm is proposed, and its accuracy is characterized. Finally, our estimation methods are exploited to develop a distributed algorithm to detect corrupted network measurements. 相似文献

The aim of this study was to characterize the cure reaction of styrene–butadiene rubber (SBR) composites containing industrial
rubber scraps. Different proportions of SBR ground scraps (SBR-r), varying from 10 to 80 parts per hundred of rubber, were
incorporated into a base formulation of identical composition. Crosslink formation and the kinetics of the cure reaction were
evaluated through oscillatory disk rheometry, differential scanning calorimetry, and crosslink density. Cure characteristics,
such as scorch time and cure time, decreased with increasing SBR-r content. Minimum torque indicated only a small variation
in the viscosity with the incorporation of SBR-r. The maximum torque decreased with the addition of scrap rubber, as a consequence
of the reduction in virgin rubber content where crosslinks had been formed. Crosslink density values corroborated these findings,
presenting a slight decrease with the increase in the SBR-r content. The kinetic study indicated lower enthalpy values for
SBR-r composites compared to those of the control sample. The kinetic parameters, such as activation energy and reaction order,
indicated a change in the mechanism of reaction, related to the increased complexity of the systems. 相似文献

Using conventional in vitro extracellular field potential recordings we have investigated both short- and long-term synaptic plasticity in the hippocampal CA1 area of mice infected with ME7 scrapie. In agreement with earlier studies, no changes were seen in the properties of the Sch?ffer collateralevoked field excitatory postsynaptic potential during the early stages of the disease (up to 160 days, post inoculation, d.p.i) after which time the recorded potentials were seen to attenuate. Also, up to this time no changes were seen in either paired-pulse facilitation or post-tetanic potentiation, which are short-term phenomena associated with brief elevations in presynaptic calcium levels. However, there was a significant shift from the ability of slices to maintain long-term potentiation (LTP) from 100 d.p.i. onwards. In all of these experiments short-term potentiation (STP) was preserved, suggesting that from the time that abnormal PrP becomes detectable, or perhaps even earlier, the mechanisms responsible for stabilizing the maintenance phase of LTP are impaired. This result is discussed in terms of the relationship between STP and LTP and how this might be compromised by the conversion of cellular prion protein (PrPC) to the scrapie, protease resistant form of PrP (PrPSc). 相似文献
