Presents the Satellite Communications Network Expert (SaNE), a knowledge-based aid designed to provide engineering support for fault diagnosis. The SaNE is composed of two elements: a satcom network model, which simulates the structure and functionality of a system based loosely upon a large military satcom network, and a diagnostic component, which uses knowledge- and model-based reasoning techniques to analyse system anomalies and diagnose possible causes for the alarms such networks generate. The development cycle is described, emphasising lessons learnt during development and testing and the advantages and disadvantages of the techniques applied. The goal of the SaNE project is primarily commercial acceptance rather than innovation. Recovery of residual oil using the alkali/surfactant/polymer process: effect of alkali concentration
An experimental study was conducted to examine the effectiveness of sodium carbonate in alkali, surfactant and polymer combined slugs in recovering waterflood residual oil. The effects of sodium carbonate concentration on the slug viscosity, interfacial tension, and phase behavior were first examined. Core flood experiments were conducted with unfired linear Berea sandstone cores. The incremental oil recovery, oil cut, residual resistance factor, and chemical propagation were measured for each flood.A significant oil bank was formed for all combined slugs having sodium carbonate concentration ≥1 wt%. The incremental oil recovery, oil cut and the injectivity of the combined slugs greatly improved as sodium carbonate concentration was increased. The effect of sodium carbonate concentration on chemical propagation was dramatic for the synthetic surfactant; a slight delay in surfactant breakthrough and a much slower rate of surfactant propagation were observed at high sodium carbonate concentrations.The results obtained in the present study indicate that the residual oil was recovered by two mechanisms: low interfacial tension and wettability reversal. The former mechanism is dominant at sodium carbonate concentrations ≤1 wt%, whereas the latter plays an important role only at high sodium carbonate concentrations. 相似文献

A novel guarded surface leakage test structure is used to isolate the surface and bulk leakage contributions to gate current in AlGaN/GaN HFETs. Passivation with various recipes of SiN/sub x/ always resulted in the commonly observed increase in gate leakage, which was found to be dominated by bulk leakage through the AlGaN. However, high temperature deposited SiN/sub x/ recipes gave a 1-2 orders reduction in surface leakage, whereas low temperature deposition gave an increase. Gate lag measurements were found to correlate closely with the surface leakage component, giving direct evidence that the key device problem of current slump is associated with current flow at the AlGaN surface. 相似文献

Four methods for hardware and software generation in real time of sine waves suitable for PWM circuits are presented. The sine waves are derived from a truncated modified cosine Taylor series, wt (π-wt ) function, a digitally filtered trapezoid, and a second-order differential equation. Triplen injection is incorporated by the addition of a defined magnitude triangular waveform of three times the fundamental frequency. Each sine wave generating technique is implemented, as applicable, in a programmable logic cell array and/or in microprocessor-based software. A failure assessment diagram is derived from carbon-manganese steel compact tension specimens. The diagram has been determined from an elastic-plastic finite element analysis of a compact tension specimen geometry. The diagram has been validated by using experimental fracture toughness data obtained on the same steel and specimen geometry modelled in the finite element analysis. The plastic collapse load has been determined empirically for this geometry.It is shown that a non-work-hardening failure assessment diagram is not a good representation of the experimental data and that the computed failure assessment diagram is more appropriate for describing the behaviour of the carbon-manganese steel specimens. 相似文献

The neutron spectra transmitted across a fission-suppressed hybrid blanket and its components, driven by a low intensity 14 MeV Haefely neutron generator, were measured with a 2×2 NE213 detector at LOTUS facility. These experiments have been analyzed with 2D and 3D codes DOT3.5 and MCNP, respectively. The spectral integrals between 15 to 1 MeV show good agreement among the 2D, the 3D, and the NE213 for 15 cm lead, 18 cm beryllium, and 25 cm graphite slabs. However, there are large discrepancies for 6.2 cm stainless steel and 15 cm lithium carbonate slabs. The assemblies involving two or more of these slabs reflect these tendencies.
