Shaping the Toroidal Section of End Mills

The shaping of the toroidal cutting section of end mills is considered. Methods are devised for selecting the positional parameters in shaping the helical rake surface on the toroidal section. Relations are established between the geometric parameters of the end mill in the toroidal section.     

Isothermal detonation and its stochastic modeling

An isothermal model describing detonation under confined conditions, for example, in a porous medium; in a reasonable approximation is presented. Methods of handling of in-bulk agglomeration layer image representation for granulometric composition assessment

The analysis of methods of images handling is carried out, the method of dynamic threshold division which is based on the calculation of weight coefficient of points in the local area is suggested. The method of adaptive adjustment of the size of the local area of the image representation is carried out to define the threshold value. X-ray tomography as a diagnostic method of X-ray refractive optics

This article describes the application of high-resolution X-ray computed tomography to assess the critical parameters of refractive lenses for X-ray optics that determine the quality of compound optical systems. A microfocus Y. Cheetah X-ray system has been used for three-dimensional visualization of the surface and internal structure of refractive lenses made of high-purity aluminum with geometric apertures of 500 and 1500 μm. A Fein Focus X-ray tube with a focal spot size of less than 2 μm provides the resolution necessary for detecting critical-size microstructure defects in the material of the lens.

Effect of thermal annealing on the properties of borophosphate systems containing simulated Cs + Sr radioactive waste fractions

The effect of thermal annealing on the resistance of borophosphate systems to crystallization and the effect of crystallization on the hydrolytic stability of the materials were examined. Systems containing simulated Cs + Sr fraction were studied. Annealing at 400–500°C leads to a noticeable decrease in the leach rate. Annealing at a higher temperature, 600°C, leads to crystallization of the glass and to a considerable increase in the leach rate.
