The EFVM (Vitoria Minas Railroad) is one of the main railways in Brazil. It transports freight trains of ore, 220 wagons each. These wagons have 2 boogies of 2 axles each and 32 metric tons on metre gauge. Elastic strains were measured on a special part of this railway due to these trains. The main load to evaluate stresses and strains was a G 16 Locomotive, a C-C kind from Vale, a Brazilian Company. The measurements were obtained by dynamic deflectometer installed on a main line of this railway, near Ipatinga, a city from Minas Gerais, one of Brazil states. This track was equipped to obtain stresses under an equal repeated static load A simulation of the stresses was made under critical strain by Ferrovia 1.0 software. It was also made an evaluation of unequal results from neighbor sleepers taking in comparison two equipped parts of this railway, one with compacted ballast and no compaction to the other. The results were strain limited, avoiding breakage or damage to the studied rails. This work analyses these measurements focusing on the improvement of track quality.  相似文献

The current study is developed based on one of the types of subgrade rupture risk suggested by Selig and Waters (1994). It aims to evaluate subgrade stability railroad, which consists of the slope stability analysis of a railway yard embankment subjected to a wagon load type gondola parked on this track. This proposed analysis was taken into consideration because there are Brazilian railroads in high deterioration level. In some of these lines the tracks are submitted to increasing amount of load every year. The adopted model slope stability to the studied railroad embankments considers the rupture on circular line. It was applied the Geoslope-Slope/W software, version 6, to the evaluation of the platform-slope system. Several situations are adopted to reach the minimum safety slope, permitting to analyze the platform stability to keep railroad traffic under adequate safety level.  相似文献

In this paper, we construct a practical framework for efficiently allocating long term evolution (LTE) resource blocks (RB) among the users in a device-to-device (D2D) network. For such network that presumably operates under the LTE cellular network, our aim is to improve the overall throughput of D2D connections using opportunistic or fairness-based approach. Taking the practical considerations into account, our proposed framework allows a number of connections to share a single RB whenever possible, thus utilizing the radio resources. To do so, our solution first identifies a superior set of the interference-free D2D reuse groups via graph modeling and graph coloring approach. In particular, we model a D2D network with a two-overlapping disk graph for which a suitable coloring algorithm is proposed and its performance bound is calculated. Once the reuse groups are known, our solution optimizes the RB allocation among these groups based on their reported channel condition as well as the scheduling criterion, whether it is fairness-based or opportunistic. Through numerical experiments, we show that our solution can significantly improve the throughput performance of a D2D network.  相似文献

A large body of evidence shows the harmful effects of cigarette smoke to oral and systemic health. More recently, a link between smoking and susceptibility to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) was proposed. COVID-19 is due to infection with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), which uses the receptor ACE2 and the protease TMPRSS2 for entry into host cells, thereby infecting cells of the respiratory tract and the oral cavity. Here, we examined the effects of cigarette smoke on the expression of SARS-CoV-2 receptors and infection in human gingival epithelial cells (GECs). We found that cigarette smoke condensates (CSC) upregulated ACE2 and TMPRSS2 expression in GECs, and that CSC activated aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) signaling in the oral cells. ACE2 was known to mediate SARS-CoV-2 internalization, and we demonstrate that CSC treatment potentiated the internalization of SARS-CoV-2 pseudovirus in GECs in an AhR-dependent manner. AhR depletion using small interference RNA decreased SARS-CoV-2 pseudovirus internalization in CSC-treated GECs compared with control GECs. Our study reveals that cigarette smoke upregulates SARS-CoV-2 receptor expression and infection in oral cells. Understanding the mechanisms involved in SARS-CoV-2 infection in cells of the oral cavity may suggest therapeutic interventions for preventing viral infection and transmission.  相似文献

To design the X¯ control chart, the in-control process mean and standard deviation must be estimated from historical samples, negatively affecting the chart's performance. The grand mean of a sample is the well-established estimator for the process mean. However, regarding the standard deviation, the chart's user has at least five different estimators available in the literature to choose from. In this paper, using intensive simulations, we study and compare the performance of the X¯ chart (under normality assumption and three-sigma limits) among the most five used standard deviation estimators. The unconditional in-control run length (RL0) is the most commonly used performance measure of a control chart, and many authors base their comparisons on the expectation of the RL0 or on the mean square error of the estimators. In contrast, we based our comparison on the proportions of the RL0 concentrated at some intervals that are usually considered undesired by the practitioner due to the high incidence of false alarms during the process monitoring (e.g., RL0 between 1 and 200), occurring earlier than expected when compared with known parameter situations. From our results, all the studied standard deviation estimators generate similar performances. However, even with this similarity, we showed that one of the most recommended standard deviation estimators in the literature in control charts with estimated parameters may be the most inappropriate choice based on the undesired RL0 proportions.  相似文献

Immunocytochemical identification of GTH I and GTH II cells in the pituitary of the bluefin tuna (Thunnus thynnus) was performed using antisera specific for the common alpha-subunit and the two distinct beta-subunits of tuna (Thunnus obesus) GTH I and GTH II. Cells of the dorsal part of the proximal pars distalis (PPD), in close association with somatotrophs, displayed immunoreactivity of GTHIbeta. GTH IIbeta immunoreactivity was present in cells of the central part of the PPD and the external border of the pars intermedia. Anti-GTHalpha immunostained both GTH Ibeta- and GTH IIbeta-immunoreactive cells and also thyrotrophs. Both GTH Ibeta- and GTH IIbeta-immunoreactive cells were observed in immature bluefin tuna, although there were greater numbers of GTH IIbeta immunoreactive cells. These results suggest that GTH I and GTH II are synthesized in separate cells in the pituitary of the bluefin tuna. The localization and appearance of the two distinct gonadotropic cells of the tuna are compared with the salmonid arrangement.  相似文献

As in the case of implants, the increase of the life expectancy and of the risk of accidents, thus causing a higher incidence of surgeries, has led to an increased use of surgical instruments. The reliability of these instruments, used in applications of considerable responsibility, depends on the characteristics of the materials, as well as on the conditions of manufacture. Using some techniques such as optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and hardness tests, this work has as purpose the identification of the possible causes of failure of surgical torch meters used for dental implants fixation, trying to correlate with the microstructural characteristics of the austenitic and martensitic stainless steels used in their manufacture. The results thus obtained allowed the identification of the main causes of the failure, primarily related to microstructural heterogeneities which resulted from inadequate heat treatment and with the presence of non-metallic inclusions, which favored brittle fracture and corrosion.  相似文献

“Nonfouling” polymer brush surfaces can greatly improve the performance of in vitro diagnostic (IVD) assays due to the reduction of nonspecific protein adsorption and consequent improvement of signal-to-noise ratios. The development of synthetic polymer brush architectures that suppress adventitious protein adsorption is reviewed, and their integration into surface plasmon resonance and fluorescent sandwich immunoassay formats is discussed. Also, highlighted is a novel, self-contained immunoassay platform (the D4 assay) that transforms time-consuming laboratory-based assays into a user-friendly and point-of-care format with a sensitivity and specificity comparable or better than standard enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) directly from unprocessed samples. These advancements clearly demonstrate the utility of nonfouling polymer brushes as a substrate for ultrasensitive and robust diagnostic assays that may be suitable for clinical testing, in field and laboratory settings.  相似文献

Powder metallurgy operations comprise the use of compaction dies and punches for transforming a mass of metallic powders into a porous block of aggregated particles with limited “green” strength. In this kind of application, dies and punches manufactured with tool steel are subjected to heavy loads to compress the metallic powders and form the block, which will be subjected to further consolidation operations such as sintering and/or some mechanical forming operation, such as forging or rolling. In general tool steels are high carbon and high alloyed steels designed for reaching high levels of mechanical strength, sufficient for his type of loading. However, defects on the surface of this material can lead to stress concentration, thus decreasing its fracture strength and eventually leading to failure. In this study, techniques such as optical and scanning electron microscopy are used to evaluate the possible causes of the failure of a compaction punch. The results indicated that machining grooves acted as stress concentrations which led to the premature fracture of the punch.  相似文献

Chagas disease, caused by the parasite Trypanosoma cruzi (T. cruzi), remains a serious public health problem for which there is no effective treatment in the chronic stage. Intense cardiac fibrosis and inflammation are hallmarks of chronic Chagas disease cardiomyopathy (CCC). Previously, we identified upregulation of circulating and cardiac miR-21, a pro-fibrotic microRNA (miRNA), in subjects with CCC. Here, we explored the potential role of miR-21 as a therapeutic target in a model of chronic Chagas disease. PCR array-based 88 microRNA screening was performed in heart samples obtained from C57Bl/6 mice chronically infected with T. cruzi and serum samples collected from CCC patients. MiR-21 was found upregulated in both human and mouse samples, which was corroborated by an in silico analysis of miRNA-mRNA target prediction. In vitro miR-21 functional assays (gain-and loss-of-function) were performed in cardiac fibroblasts, showing upregulation of miR-21 and collagen expression upon transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGFβ1) and T. cruzi stimulation, while miR-21 blockage reduced collagen expression. Finally, treatment of T. cruzi-infected mice with locked nucleic acid (LNA)-anti-miR-21 inhibitor promoted a significant reduction in cardiac fibrosis. Our data suggest that miR-21 is a mediator involved in the pathogenesis of cardiac fibrosis and indicates the pharmacological silencing of miR-21 as a potential therapeutic approach for CCC.  相似文献
