Alumina membranes were fabricated by anodizing aluminium metal in 0.15 M oxalic acid. The growth kinetics of the porous layer were investigated in the temperature range –1 to 16 °C using linear potential scans up to 70 V. The faradaic efficiencies of metal oxidation and of porous layer formation, determined by applying Faraday's law, were found to be independent of both temperature and electrical charge. SEM analysis of the metal-side and solution-side surfaces revealed different morphologies. After dissolution of the barrier layer in phosphoric acid, the metal-side surface showed circular pores whose size of about 90 nm was found to be uniform and independent of temperature. The pore population was also practically independent of temperature and a value of about 4 × 1013 pores m–2 was determined. On the solution-side surface the presence of a deposit partially occluding the mouths of pores was observed. This coating could be removed by chemical etching in NaOH or thermal treatment at 870 °C, where decomposition of oxalate occurs. This supports the hypothesis that the deposit consists of an aluminium salt containing oxalate anions precipitated from the solution. The results show that it is possible to control the morphological characteristics of the anodic alumina membranes by careful choice of experimental conditions.  相似文献

In a previous work, convective heating of carbon dioxide was studied with neural networks (NN), obtaining a totally heuristical heat transfer equation from the direct regression of experimental data. In the present work, the analysis focuses on the cooling process, which has a technical relevance in various applications, as for example in transcritical refrigeration cycles. Heat transfer around the critical zone presents a marked enhancement, that follows the peaks in thermophysical properties like thermal conductivity and heat capacity. Similarly, other properties like density and enthalpy, present a strong variation in narrow temperature intervals around the critical point.This constitutes then a highly non-linear phenomenon, for which it is advisable to use a very flexible function approximator like the NNs. NN models were applied both in terms of dimensionless numbers and of physical quantities, obtaining the two corresponding NN architectures. The choice of the optimal number of neurons in the NN hidden layer is discussed. The NN models are then compared with a recent correlation from literature, for which the validation results present an AAD of 27% and a bias of −26% with an evident prediction shifting. On the other hand the NN models in terms of dimensionless numbers and of physical quantities have AAD and bias of 14% and −4%, and of 7% and −2%, respectively, showing a largely better performance.  相似文献

The inhibition of squalene-hopene cyclase (SHC) (E.C. 5.4.99.-), an enzyme of bacterial membranes catalyzing the formation of pentacyclic sterol-like triterpenes, was studied by using different classes of compounds originally developed as inhibitors of oxidosqualene cyclase (OCS) (E.C. 5.4.99.7), the enzyme of eukaryotes responsible for the formation of tetracyclic precursors of sterols. The mechanism of cyclization of squalene by SHC, beginning with a protonation of the 2,3 double bond by an acidic residue of the enzyme, followed by a series of electrophilic additions of the carbocationic intermediates to the double bonds, is similar to the mechanism of cyclization of 2,3-oxidosqualene by OSC. The inhibitors studied included: (i) analogs of the carbocationic intermediates formed during cyclization, such as aza-analogs of squalene and 2,3-oxidosqualene; (ii) affinity-labeling inhibitors bearing a methylidene reactive group; and (iii) vinyldioxidosqualenes and vinylsulfide derivatives of the substrates. Comparison of the results obtained with the two enzymes, SHC and OSC, showed that many of the most effective inhibitors of OSC were also able to inhibit SHC, while some derivatives acted as specific inhibitors. Differences could be easily explained on the basis of the different substrate specificity of the two enzymes.  相似文献

A novel technique for the preparation of secondary fatty amides   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
A technique for the synthesis of monosubstituted fatty amides at low temperature and ambient pressure was developed. This method involved the condensation of an amine with a triacylglycerol. The primary amine (ethyl,n-butyl,n-hexyl andn-octyl were tested) acted as reagent and solvent for the fatty substrates. No additional organic solvent or catalyst was added. Tallow, vegetable oils and fish oil all served well as substrates, as did pure tripalmitin. The rate of amidation was dependent upon temperature and the ratio of fat to amine. In a series of experiments conducted with tallow andn-butylamine at a fat:amine molar ratio of 1:16, amidation could be carried out at 20°C, producingn-butyltallowamide in 83% yield in 24 hr. When the fat:amine molar ratio was reduced to 1:8, and the temperature raised to 45°C, the amide yield was 87.6% in 24 hr. When the reaction was carried out at the boiling point ofn-butylamine (78°C) and at a fat:amine ratio of 1:8, the amide yield was 93.2% in 4 hr. The reaction progressed more rapidly with higher molecular weight amines. The identity and purity of the amides was assessed by thin-layer chromatography and confirmed by elemental analyses and infrared and C13 nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy.  相似文献

A structural model of Saccharomyces cerevisiae oxidosqualene cyclase (SceOSC) suggests that some residues of the conserved sequence Pro-Ala-Glu-Val-Phe-Gly (residues 524-529) belong to a channel constriction that gives access to the active-site cavity. Starting from the SceOSC C457D mutant, which lacks the cysteine residue next to the catalytic Asp456 residue Cys457 has been replaced but Asp456 is still there, we prepared two further mutants where the wild-type residues Ala525 and Glu526 were individually replaced by cysteine. These mutants, especially E526C, were very sensitive to the thiol-reacting agent dodecyl-maleimide. Moreover, both the specific activity and the thermal stability of E526C were severely reduced. A similar decrease of the enzyme functionality was obtained by replacing Glu526 with alanine, while substitution with the conservative residues aspartate or glutamine did not alter catalytic activity. Molecular modeling of the yeast wild-type OSC and mutants on the template structure of human OSC confirms that the channel constriction is an important aspect of the protein structure and suggests a critical structural role for Glu526.  相似文献

Many natural systems exhibit a hybrid behavior characterized by a set of continuous laws which are switched by discrete events. Such behaviors can be described in a very natural way by a class of automata called hybrid automata. Their evolution are represented by both dynamical systems on dense domains and discrete transitions. Once a real system is modeled in a such framework, one may want to analyze it by applying automatic techniques, such as Model Checking or Abstract Interpretation. Unfortunately, the discrete/continuous evolutions not only provide hybrid automata of great flexibility, but they are also at the root of many undecidability phenomena. This paper addresses issues regarding the decidability of the reachability problem for hybrid automata (i.e., “can the system reach a state a from a state b?”) by proposing an “inaccurate” semantics. In particular, after observing that dense sets are often abstractions of real world domains, we suggest, especially in the context of biological simulation, to avoid the ability of distinguishing between values whose distance is less than a fixed ε. On the ground of the above considerations, we propose a new semantics for first-order formulæ which guarantees the decidability of reachability. We conclude providing a paradigmatic biological example showing that the new semantics mimics the real world behavior better than the precise one.  相似文献

During the last few years, the proliferation of miniaturised devices with networking capabilities has provided the technological grounds for pervasive networking environments. It is not visionary to foresee a world of pervasive devices embedded in the environment interacting between them, and with those carried by users, via wireless communications. In addition, fostered by the diffusion of small-size, computational-rich mobile devices, the way content is generated, and accessed is changing with respect to the legacy-Internet paradigm. An ever-increasing share of the Internet content is generated directly by the users, and shared on the network (following the User-Generated Content model). While today the legacy Internet is still used to share user-generated content, it is reasonable to envision that pervasive networking technologies will represent the natural platform to support this new model. This will result in content being distributed on users’ devices rather than on centralised servers on the Internet, and in users creating ad hoc networks to share content. The p2p paradigm is particularly suitable for this scenario, because communications will occur directly among users, instead of being necessarily mediated by centralised servers. Motivated by these remarks, in this work we focus on p2p multicast services over ad hoc networks aimed at sharing content among groups of users interested in the same topics. Specifically, starting from a reference solution in legacy wired networks (Scribe), we design a cross-layer optimised protocol (XScribe) that addresses most of the Scribe problems on ad hoc networks. XScribe exploits cross-layer interactions with a proactive routing protocol to manage group membership. Furthermore, it uses a lightweight, structureless approach to deliver data to group members. By jointly using experimental results and analytical models, we show that, with respect to Scribe, XScribe significantly reduces the packet loss and the delay experienced by multicast receivers, and increases the maximum throughput that can be delivered to multicast groups.  相似文献
