Speed-up fractal image compression with a fuzzy classifier   总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4
This paper presents a fractal image compression scheme incorporated with a fuzzy classifier that is optimized by a genetic algorithm. The fractal image compression scheme requires to find matching range blocks to domain blocks from all the possible division of an image into subblocks. With suitable classification of the subblocks by a fuzzy classifier we can reduce the search time for this matching process so as to speedup the encoding process in the scheme. Implementation results show that by introducing three image classes and using fuzzy classifier optimized by a genetic algorithm the encoding process can be speedup by about 40% of an unclassified encoding system.  相似文献

A linear singular blending (LSB) technique can enhance the shape—control capability of the B-spline. This capability is derived from the blending parameters defined at the B-spline control vertices and blends LSB line segments or bilinear surface patches with the B-spline curve or surface. Varying the blending parameters between zero and unity applies tension for reshaping. The reshaped curve or surface retains the same smoothness properties as the original B-spline; it possesses the same strict parametric continuities. This is different from the -spline, which introduces additional control to the B-spline by imposing geometrical continuities to the joints of curve segments or surface patches. For applications in which strict parametric continuities cannot be compromised, LSB provides an intuitive way to introduce tension to the B-spline.  相似文献

Thermal loading induces modifications of the precipitation microstructure of Al–Si–Cu–Mg alloys. This study focuses on the effect of deformation on precipitation microstructure during thermomechanical loadings. Several specimens were thermomechanically cycled while others were exposed to the same thermal cycles without any mechanical loading. The nature and morphological characteristics of the precipitation microstructure of the thermomechanically cycled specimens are compared to those of the thermally aged ones, using transmission electron microscopy (TEM), in order to assess the effect of deformation on the precipitation microstructure and especially on the kinetics of precipitate growth. The absence of any significant effect of superimposed straining during thermal cycling is discussed. Implications for the prevision of yield strength degradation during service operation are briefly presented.

Lipoblastoma is a rare, benign tumour of embryonal fat seen almost exclusively in infancy and early childhood. It occurs mostly in the extremities, but it is also seen in other parts of the body. The tumour may grow rapidly, and the fact that lipoblastomas show immature fat cells could lead to the wrong diagnosis of liposarcoma. Complete surgical excision appears to be the treatment of choice. A correct, preoperative diagnosis is possible in most cases. Two cases of lipoblastoma of the upper limb and one case in the scapular region are reported.  相似文献

In the transition from a device-oriented paradigm toward a more task-oriented paradigm with increased interoperability, people are struggling with inappropriate user interfaces, competing standards, technical incompatibilities, and other difficulties. The current handles for users to explore, make, and break connections between devices seem to disappear in overly complex menu structures displayed on small screens. This paper tackles the problem of establishing connections between devices in a smart home environment, by introducing an interaction model that we call semantic connections. Two prototypes are demonstrated that introduce both a tangible and an augmented reality approach toward exploring, making, and breaking connections. In the augmented reality approach, connections between real-world objects are visualized by displaying visible lines and icons from a mobile device containing a pico projector. In the tangible approach, objects in the environment are tagged and can be scanned and interacted with, to explore connection possibilities, and manipulate the connections. We discuss the technical implementation of a pilot study setup used to evaluate both our interaction approaches. We conclude the paper with the results of a user study that shows how the interaction approaches influence the mental models users construct after interacting with our setup.  相似文献

Light is a common ambient medium to express additional information in a peripheral and calm way, but it is also an environmental stimulant to create atmosphere, evoke moods, and provide immersive experiences. Through the design of the DeLight system, we aim to establish a biofeedback-driven lighting environment that informs users about their stress level for intervention and assists them in biofeedback relaxation training. In this study, DeLight is interfaced with a heart rate variability biofeedback system with two modes for different purposes: stress intervention and relaxation assistance. We evaluated the prototype of DeLight in two user studies. The results of the first study show that DeLight has the potential for stress intervention; the HRV biofeedback through the changes of ambient light could improve a user’s awareness of stress and trigger behavioral conditioning, such as deep breathing. The results of the second study confirm that DeLight has potential as a new biofeedback interface for relaxation assistance; biofeedback through an immersive lighting environment can support physiological regulation as effectively as graphic biofeedback; it offers enhanced relaxation effects regarding both subjective experience and physiological arousal. These findings suggest that the biofeedback-driven ambient light can perform as persuasive technology in the domain of health self-management. The combination of decorative and informative aspects enables the lighting interface to offer the users a comfortable and relaxing condition for biofeedback-assisted relaxation training.  相似文献

Summary. A technique for the automated synthesis of FSMs (finite state machines) from sets of interworkings (synchronous sequence charts) is described. This is useful for obtaining feedback from a set of scenarios during a system's definition phase or test phase. It is sound in the sense that the generated FSM only exhibits traces that correspond to one of the interworkings from the given set. It preserves deadlock freedom in the sense that no behaviours are lost. The concrete syntax of SDL is used to represent the resulting FSMs. Received: December 1996 / Accepted: September 1998  相似文献

Unwind is a musical biofeedback interface which combines nature sounds and sedative music into a form of New-Age music for relaxation exercises. The nature sounds respond to the user’s physiological data, functioning as an informative layer for biofeedback display. The sedative music aims to induce calmness and evoke positive emotions. UnWind incorporates the benefits of biofeedback and sedative music to facilitate deep breathing, moderate arousal, and promote mental relaxation. We evaluated Unwind in a 2?×?2 factorial experiment with music and biofeedback as independent factors. Forty young adults performed the relaxation exercise under one of the following conditions after experiencing a stressful task: Nature sounds only (NS), Nature sounds with music (NM), and Auditory biofeedback with nature sounds (NSBFB), and UnWind musical biofeedback (NMBFB). The results revealed a significant interaction effect between music and biofeedback on the improvement of heart rate variability. The combination of music and nature sounds also showed benefits in lowering arousal and reducing self-report anxiety. We conclude with a discussion of UnWind for biofeedback and the wider potential of blending nature sounds with music as a musical interface.  相似文献
