Several compounds, structurally related to the insect growth regulator Fenoxycarb, exhibited interesting inhibition action to control proliferation of Trypanosoma cruzi, the parasite responsible for Chagas' disease. Some of these drugs were shown to be potent growth inhibitors of this parasite. Apprehensions of reduced wood quality could be repudiated to a large extent in “novel” forest decline areas. Comparatively little is known about wood from trees severely damaged by local emitters. In this sense ten lowly and highly fluoride affected pine trees (Pinus sylvestris L.) were sampled from a location in upper Austria, near an aluminium refining plant. In comparison with the lowly affected pines the highly affected one show significant reductions of wood properties under elimination of the influence of wood density and growth rate: Modulus of elasticity in bending, bending strength, maximum crushing strength, maximal tangential and volume swelling. Analytical cutting force models play an important role in a wide array of simulation approaches of milling processes. The accuracy of the simulated processes directly depends on the predictive power of the applied cutting force model, which may vary under specific circumstances. End milling processes with small radial cutting depths, e.g. finishing processes, are particularly problematic. In this case, the tool runout, which is usually neglected in established cutting force models, can become quite significant. Within this article, well-known cutting force models are implemented for runout-prone finishing processes and modified by integrating additional parameters. A method is presented for how these additional runout parameters can be efficiently determined alongside commonly used cutting coefficients. For this purpose, a large number of milling experiments have been performed where the cutting forces were directly measured using a stationary dynamometer. The measured cutting forces were compared with the simulated cutting forces to verify and assess the modified model. By using the presented model and calibration method, cutting forces can be accurately predicted even for small radial cutting depths and significant tool runout. 相似文献

Cyclodextrins are cyclic oligosaccharides with the shape ofa hollow truncated cone. Their exterior is hydrophilic and theircavity is hydrophobic, which gives cyclodextrins the abilityto accommodate hydrophobic molecules/moieties in the cavity.This special molecular arrangement accounts for the varietyof beneficial effects cyclodextrins have on proteins, whichis widely used in pharmacological applications. We have studiedthe interaction between ß-cyclodextrin and four non-carbohydrate-bindingmodel proteins: ubiquitin, chymotrypsin inhibitor 2 (CI2), S6and insulin SerB9Asp by NMR spectroscopy at varying structuraldetail. We demonstrate that the interaction of ß-cyclodextrinand our model proteins takes place at specific sites on theprotein surface, and that solvent accessibility of those sitesis a necessary but not compelling condition for the occurrenceof an interaction. If this behaviour can be generalized, itmight explain the wide range of different effects of cyclodextrinson different proteins: aggregation suppression (if residuesresponsible for aggregation are highly solvent accessible),protection against degradation (if point of attack of a proteaseis sterically masked by cyclodextrin), alterationof function (if residues involved in function are maskedby cyclodextrin). In this paper we present a method for automatic interpolation between adjacent discrete levels of detail to achieve smooth LOD changes in image space. We achieve this by breaking the problem into two passes: We render the two LOD levels individually and combine them in a separate pass afterwards. The interpolation is formulated in a way that only one level has to be updated per frame and the other can be reused from the previous frame, thereby causing roughly the same render cost as with simple non interpolated discrete LOD rendering, only incurring the slight overhead of the final combination pass. Additionally we describe customized interpolation schemes using visibility textures. The method was designed with the ease of integration into existing engines in mind. It requires neither sorting nor blending of objects, nor does it introduce any constrains in the LOD used.
