The production and properties of blends of poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) and poly(ethylene naphthalene 2,6‐dicarboxylate) (PEN) with three modified clays are reported. Octadecylammonium chloride and maleic anhydride (MAH) are used to modify the surface of the montmorillonite–Na+ clay particles (clay–Na+) to produce clay–C18 and clay–MAH, respectively, before they are mixed with the PET/PEN system. The transesterification degree, hydrophobicity and the effect of the clays on the mechanical, rheological and thermal properties are analysed. The PET–PEN/clay–C18 system does not show any improvements in the mechanical properties, which is attributed to poor exfoliation. On the other hand, in the PET–PEN/clay–MAH blends, the modified clay restricts crystallization of the matrix, as evidenced in the low value of the crystallization enthalpy. The process‐induced PET–PEN transesterification reaction is affected by the clay particles. Clay–C18 induces the largest proportion of naphthalate–ethylene–terephthalate (NET) blocks, as opposed to clay–Na+ which renders the lowest proportion. The clay readily incorporates in the bulk polymer, but receding contact‐angle measurements reveal a small influence of the particles on the surface properties of the sample. The clay–Na+ blend shows a predominant solid‐like behaviour, as evidenced by the magnitude of the storage modulus in the low‐frequency range, which reflects a high entanglement density and a substantial degree of polymer–particle interactions. This work presents an experimental analysis of circular-planar type intermediate-temperature solid oxide fuel cells, and the interpretation of the experimental results with a finite volume model. The model is developed to generate cell mass and energy balances and internal cell profiles for all the relevant thermodynamic or electrochemical variables, and includes a fluid-dynamic analysis focusing on the investigation of the cell internal flow conditions. Experiments have been carried out at the Edison laboratories, where several single cells fuelled with hydrogen were subject to polarization curve analysis and internal temperature measurements. The model is calibrated and validated over experimental voltage–current data, provides information on cell internal losses and demonstrates the capacity of predicting the single cell behavior and overall energy balances when changing significantly the cell operating conditions. The discussion also addresses the effects of diffusion losses appearing in the experiments carried out at high current output and low fuel hydrogen content.  相似文献

Nanoimprint lithographies (NIL) are very promising for NIL applications on flexible plastic films. In this paper we present some studies and developments of the imprint of polyethylene naphthalate (PEN) films. Different NIL processes are developed successfully; they correspond to the imprint of different chemical phases of the material: semicrystalline, amorphous, and melt. The thermal properties of the film are analyzed, and related to imprint results, which demonstrate that high reproducibility and uniformity are obtained. Moreover, the imprint of such flexible films is much more promising since it avoids NIL limitations commonly observed on semiconductor substrates.  相似文献
