SuperLFV: An SLHA tool for lepton flavor violating observables in supersymmetric models

We introduce SuperLFV, a numerical tool for calculating low-energy observables that exhibit charged lepton flavor violation (LFV) in the context of the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM). As the Large Hadron Collider and MEG, a dedicated μ⁺→e⁺γ${\mu }^{+}\to e^{+}\gamma$ experiment, are presently acquiring data, there is need for tools that provide rapid discrimination of models that exhibit LFV. SuperLFV accepts a spectrum file compliant with the SUSY Les Houches Accord (SLHA), containing the MSSM couplings and masses with complex phases at the supersymmetry breaking scale. In this manner, SuperLFV is compatible with but divorced from existing SLHA spectrum calculators that provide the low energy spectrum. Hence, input spectra are not confined to the LFV sources provided by established SLHA spectrum calculators. Input spectra may be generated by personal code or by hand, allowing for arbitrary models not supported by existing spectrum calculators.

Retail Change in Southern Sydney: Lifestyle-Linked Restructuring?

Examination of the changing composition of shopping centres in suburban Sydney between 1969 and 1998 suggests that retail restructuring is linked to lifestyle changes. The growth in the number of shops appears to have matched population growth in the 1990s, suggesting that the suburbanisation of retailing has stabilised. At the same time there has been increasing diversification in terms of the retail functions which are available and in terms of the places where these are available. These changes appear linked to a blurring of the distinction between shopping and leisure and to the use of shopping as a way of signifying identity.

New suburban centers: An Australian perspective

Suburban “edge cities” are an international phenomenon registering the impacts of a growing global economy, the increasing footlooseness of capital, advances in communication technology, the growth of hi-tech industry, and the forces of decentralisation. Yet they do assume culturally specific forms. Using the case study of North Ryde in the Sydney metropolitan area, differences between Australia and the United States in terms of the dynamism and scale of their respective edge-city environments are highlighted. Four explanatory factors are identified: the comparative nature of the Australian economy, the differential strength of planning controls, contrasting central city—suburban relationships, and a lesser degree of freeway dependence.     

全球化趋势下我国建筑师职业实践所面临的挑战——国际建协职业实践委员会发展历史沿革及建筑实践职业主义推荐国际标准

本文介绍了国际建协（UIA）职业实践委员会（UIA-PPC）的发展历史沿革，并对建筑实践的职业主义推荐国际标准的主要内容及各版本修订要点进行了比较研究。作者以国际建协职业实践委员会（UIA-PPC）联席主席的视角，介绍了委员会的工作动向，并结合目前国际建筑职业实践的发展对我国建筑职业实践的现状及全球化趋势下我国建筑师职业实践所面临挑战的关键点进行了论述。     

新巴塞尔协议与商业银行风险衡量

论述了新巴塞尔资本协议中对信用风险、市场风险和操作风险衡量的方法及实施相应方法的一些必要的条件。根据新巴塞尔协议对我国商业银行风险管理提出了相应要求：大力发展评级机构；主动地寻求风险平衡，实现全面风险管理；风险管理方法的深入，积极开发风险控制工具；信用风险衡量方法从简单向复杂的转变。     

How does Government Procurement Law affect bidding price competition in Taiwan?

To conform with the requirements of the international Government Procurement Agreement and the regulations of the World Trade Organization, the Taiwan Government Procurement Law (GPL) was enacted in 1999. The main points of the agreement and barriers affecting price competition are illustrated. Award prices for subcentral government civil engineering projects are compared before and after the law went into effect. The result suggests that civil engineering prices have decreased significantly since the introduction of the law, that the transparent and open-tendering system enforced by the law has led to an increase in competition, and that tender prices decreased during the initial period. During the same period, construction companies' average rate of profit on sales moved from positive to negative. It is concluded that severe bidding competition is expected after Taiwan completes accession to the agreement.

Purpose

To determine the antimicrobial activity of the melimine derived peptide Mel4 against Delftia, Stenotrophomonas, Elizabethkingia, Burkholderia and to investigate biocompatibility of Mel4 as an antimicrobial coating on contact lenses in animals and humans.

环境成就地标建筑——以重庆大剧院与悉尼歌剧院为例

通过对城市地标建筑的发展及其一般形态的概述,引出城市地标建筑无论是在视觉层面还是经济文化层面都离不开与其周边环境肌理的契合,与城市自然风貌以及人造工程环境共同交互影响。以重庆大剧院与悉尼歌剧院为例,通过对其体量的大小,基地、立面、外部轮廓的塑造及其色彩的选择与其周围环境关系的对比,挖掘出重庆大剧院纵然具有地处关键、体量高大、造型新颖等特点,却因没把握好同城市环境肌理的契合而失去地标效应。指出在设计城市地标建筑时,应因地制宜,充分结合当地自然环境及其地域文脉,才能成就其"地标性",推动地标经济效益。
