Studies on odor mixture perception suggest that although odor components can often be identified in mixtures, mixtures can also give rise to novel perceptual qualities that are not present in the components. Using an olfactory habituation task, the authors evaluated how the perceptual similarity between components in a mixture affects the perceptual quality of the mixture itself. Rats perceived binary mixtures composed of similar components as different from their 2 components, whereas binary mixtures composed of dissimilar components were perceived as very similar to their components. Results show that for both types of mixtures, pretraining to Component A reduces subsequent learning about Component B in rats trained in the presence of A. Learning a sequence of target locations when the sequence is uncorrelated with a sequence of responses and target location is not the response dimension (pure perceptual-based sequence learning) was examined. Using probabilistic sequences of target locations, the author shows that such learning can be implicit, is unaffected by distance between target locations, and is mostly limited to first-order transition probabilities. Moreover, the mechanism underlying learning affords processing of information at anticipated target locations and appears to be attention based. Participants' usage of informational variables in learning visual relative-mass discrimination in collisions was tracked by means of PROBIT correlations. Four groups received feedback that was true or accorded with either of three nonspecificational cue variables. A majority in each group adopted the feedback, but several participants defied the false feedback. Unlike in previous research, the fit to data of the relative-mass invariant could not be bettered by post hoc linear combinations of the cues. Discriminability was lower in the use of the invariant. Analytic complexity was rejected as an explanation for discriminability differences. A "smart mechanism" for pickup of the relative-mass invariant was developed as an extension of G. Walking without vision results in veering, an inability to maintain a straight path that has important consequences for blind pedestrians. In this study, the authors addressed whether the source of veering in the absence of visual and auditory feedback is better attributed to errors in perceptual encoding or undetected motor error. Three experiments had the following results: No significant differences in the shapes of veering trajectories were found between blind and blindfolded participants; accuracy in detecting curved walking paths was not correlated with simple measures of veering behavior; and explicit perceptual cues to initial walking direction did not reduce veering. The authors present a model that accounts for the major characteristics of participants' veering behavior by postulating 3 independent sources of undetected motor error: initial orientation, consistent biases in step direction, and, most important, variable error in individual steps. The recommendation of the CIE has been followed as closely as possible to evaluate the accuracy of five color gamut mapping algorithms (GMAs)—two nonspatial and three spatial algorithms—by psychophysical experiments with 20 test images, 20 observers, one test done on paper and a second one on display. Even though the results do not show any overall “winner,” one GMA is definitely perceived as not accurate. The importance of a high number of test images to obtain robust evaluation is underlined by the high variability of the results depending on the test images. Significant correlations between the percentage of out‐of‐gamut pixels, the number of distinguishable pairs of GMAs, and the perceived difficulty to distinguish them have been found. The type of observers is also important. The experts, who prefer a spatial GMA, show a stronger consensus and look especially for a good rendering of details, whereas the nonexperts hardly make a difference between the GMAs. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 文中提出了一种基于视频灰度直方图形状的Hashing算法,能有效抵抗各种常见的几何失真和视频处理操作.算法的鲁棒性原理如下:1)由于直方图的形状与像素位置无关,故基于直方图的视频Hashing算法能有效抵抗各种常见的几何攻击;2)由于在计算Hashing前对视频帧进行了平滑预处理,故算法对加噪攻击、模糊滤波、有损压缩等处理操作有很好的鲁棒性;3)由于计算Hashing前在时间轴上进行了低通滤波预处理,故算法能抵抗帧率变化、帧丢失等时域同步攻击.实验结果表明,所提出的Hashing算法有良好的唯一性和鲁棒性能.  相似文献

根据知觉的最新理论研究和实验结果,提出一种新的知觉模型,并用于考查计算机视觉中的分割问题.分割问题实质上是知觉表达问题,现在分割的困难性可能是知觉上局部到整体的还原论假设造成的;分割可能不是一次完成的,而是经过整体到局部的过程才最终完成.新的知觉模型将对建立更好的分割模型提供理论基础.  相似文献

针对提高被动式热释电红外(PIR)传感器的探测距离和范围,提出动/静态双坐标感知系统理论,根据动/静态双坐标感知系统对动态目标实现一定距离内和全范围探测的要求,光学基准传递的要求,提出了小型动/静态双坐标感知系统的结构设计方案。该系统配用红外透镜作为其光学装置,在匀速转台的带动下,实现360°全范围探测红外信号,解决了PIR传感器探测距离和探测视场的矛盾,拓宽了PIR传感器的使用领域。经过实验验证,该系统结构设计合理。  相似文献

为减轻离线触觉数据压缩带来的失真变形,提出利用曲线拟合的压缩方法.在假定触觉数据所对应原触觉信号能用分段二次参数曲线表示的前提下,通过反向采样过程来构造触觉数据拟合曲线,该曲线由分段二次曲线组成,在连接处达到切线连续,且每段二次曲线对原触觉信号具有二次多项式逼近精度.为避免保存拟合曲线的所有系数以进一步提高数据减少率,对拟合曲线系数进行了迭代求解,从而只需编码保存部分系数即可解码.实验结果表明,该方法在保持高数据减少率的前提下减轻了压缩失真变形.  相似文献
