Numerical modelling of the propagation of fast landslides using the finite element method

This paper proposes a two‐dimensional (2D) model for the analysis of the propagation of fast landslides involving a fluidized material such as debris and mud flows, flowslides and avalanching flows. The model is based on the Navier–Stokes depth‐integrated equations. To incorporate the effect of steep slopes and centrifugal forces due to the high velocities characterizing the flowslides and the bed curvature, a curvilinear system of reference is used. The corresponding equations of motion are complemented by depth‐averaged constitutive equations and bed friction laws. The resulting set of differential equations are solved using the two‐step Taylor–Galerkin algorithm. This algorithm has been used by the authors to solve hydraulic and dam‐break problems using the finite element method. Owing to the importance of the source term compared to the advection component, the proposed algorithm follows a splitting scheme using a fourth‐order Runge–Kutta method for integrating the friction and slope components. The performance of the overall approach has been checked in a number of examples. The analysis of the results provides insights into the key elements of the model and shows the adequacy of the method to solve real problems where merging and splitting of the flow occur. On basic definitions of unified fracture mechanics terminology

The adoption of unified fracture mechanics terminology (UFMT) will promote efficient communication between specialists in different fields of fracture research, harmonization of national and international standards relating to fracture mechanics, and last but not least improvement of the existing methodology for teaching and education in fatigue and fracture. In this paper the definitions of some basic and related terms included in different standards on fracture mechanics terminology are confronted with one another. Alternative definitions of the same terms are offered. By this strategy the author tries to show that the definitions of basic and related terms appropriate for the UFMT should emerge as a consequence of harmonizing a crack model with an actual crack and then both taken together with a fracture model, laboratory test methods, and failure assessment codes.Published in Problemy Prochonsti, No. 1, pp. 17–29, January, 1996.This paper is published as a matter of discussion.

Stability of impulsive stochastic functional differential systems in terms of two measures via comparison approach

Comparison principles for general impulsive stochastic functional differential systems are established.Employing the comparison principles and the theory of differential inequalities,stability and instability,involving two measures,of impulsive stochastic functional differential systems are investigated.Several stability and instability criteria are obtained,and two examples are also given to illustrate our results.

基于自然语言处理的算法知识名称发现

网络中的很多程序资源在知识概念上有内在的联系,却没有超链接将它们连接在一起。将网络程序资源中的算法知识名称获取出来,组织成一个算法知识专家库文件,用于识别程序设计资源所含的知识点,即可将程序设计资源按知识点相互联系。为了自动获取程序资源中的算法知识名称,提出一种基于自然语言处理的算法知识名称发现方法。通过发现含有算法知识名称语句的字符串模式,从程序资源中提取可能含算法知识名称的字符串,从中找出最有可能出现在算法知识名称中的分词,并根据这些分词获取算法知识名称。实验结果表明,与原有人工整理出的算法知识名称集合相比,该方法新增了11.2%的算法知识点和13.6%的算法知识名称。
