The time window for effective climate change mitigation is closing. Technological change needs to be accelerated to limit global warming to a manageable level. Path dependence of technological change is one explanation for sluggish diffusion of green technologies. Firms acquire capital that differs by technology type and build up type-specific technological know-how needed to use capital efficiently. Path dependence emerges from cumulative knowledge stocks manifested in the productivity of supplied capital and firms’ capabilities. Increasing returns arise from induced innovation feedbacks and learning by doing. Relatively lower endowments with technological knowledge are a barrier to diffusion for new technologies. This paper shows how the evolution of relative stocks of technological knowledge explains different shapes of diffusion curves. Using an eco-technology extension of the macroeconomic agent-based model Eurace@unibi, it is shown how the effectiveness of different climate policies depends on the type and strength of diffusion barriers. Environmental taxes can outweigh lower productivity and subsidies perform better if lacking capabilities hinder firms to adopt a sufficiently mature technology. 相似文献

A novel PEO (polyethylene oxide)-based composite polymer electrolyte (CPE) using absorptive glass mat (AGM) as filler was prepared and characterized. Scanning electronic micrograph (SEM) images showed that the addition of Li salt and modified AGM may improve the surface morphology of CPE. The results of Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and differential scanning calorimeters (DSC) indicated that the inclusion of LiClO4 salt and the addition of AGM filler can reduce the crystallinity of PEO. It was concluded that the addition of AGM plays two roles in PEO-based CPEs, namely, interruption of the PEO recrystallization and reinforcement of CPEs, accordingly enhancing room temperature ionic conductivity of CPEs and improving its mechanical strength and electrochemical stability at high temperatures. 相似文献

Our study examined the determinants of ERP knowledge transfer from implementation consultants (ICs) to key users (KUs), and vice versa. An integrated model was developed, positing that knowledge transfer was influenced by the knowledge-, source-, recipient-, and transfer context-related aspects. Data to test this model were collected from 85 ERP-implementation projects of firms that were mainly located in Zhejiang province, China. The results of the analysis demonstrated that all four aspects had a significant influence on ERP knowledge transfer. Furthermore, the results revealed the mediator role of the transfer activities and arduous relationship between ICs and KUs. The influence on knowledge transfer from the source’s willingness to transfer and the recipient’s willingness to accept knowledge was fully mediated by transfer activities, whereas the influence on knowledge transfer from the recipient’s ability to absorb knowledge was only partially mediated by transfer activities. The influence on knowledge transfer from the communication capability (including encoding and decoding competence) was fully mediated by arduous relationship. 相似文献

To survive in a dynamic and hyper-competitive business environment, firms are compelled to simultaneously introduce incremental and radical innovations. While it is recognised that business intelligence and analytics (BI&A) can support innovation and provide organisational value, the literature provides a limited understanding of its impact on balancing different innovation activities and ensuring performance gains. In this study, we examine the relationship between BI&A use, innovation ambidexterity, and firm performance by relying on the process theory of IS value creation as well as the dynamic capabilities perspective. We test our model using data collected from medium- and large-sized firms in Slovenia, applying partial least squares modelling. The results support the notion that BI&A use is positively associated with successful balancing between explorative and exploitative innovation activities, which in turn enhances firm performance. Our results also indicate that innovation ambidexterity is enhanced in two ways: indirectly through interaction with the firm’s absorptive capacity, and directly by increasing the possibilities of faster experimentation with offerings of products or services and improved predictability of the value of new products or services. 相似文献

Many believe that project complexity reduces project management performance. However, so far research has failed to establish this causal relationship conclusively. We extend research on project complexity by introducing the concept of team-level absorptive capacity and by studying its role as mediator between project complexity and project management success. Applying structural equation modelling to a sample of 285 respondents, we find an unequivocal, direct and positive statistical association between project complexity and delays and overspending. Further, we show that team-level absorptive capacity is critical for successful project management, but also that absorptive capacity can only partially offset the harmful impact of project complexity. Beyond adding to project management theory, the paper contributes to the wider management literature. We establish complexity as an antecedent of absorptive capacity and demonstrate how each dimension of absorptive capacity has unique determinants and outcomes. 相似文献

Business analytics (BA) is a resource-intensive, risky endeavor. However, the literature has not addressed the important question of how to assimilate BA technologies for competitive advantage. We build a research framework and outline the BA assimilation mechanisms through organizational absorptive capacity (AC). Data were collected from 600 companies across six countries and analyzed using partial least squares. The findings revealed that organizational AC plays a crucial mediating role between BA competency and BA assimilation, leading to competitive advantage.
