This study investigates the behavior of fruit and vegetable samples during drying. The experimental data are fitted to several different thin-layer drying models. Regression analysis is used to determine model parameters, while statistical indicators serve to evaluate the goodness of fit. The power function model gives the best fit for all examined samples. Based on this model, different drying and heat storage technologies can be combined to ensure that the required residual moisture content of an agricultural product is reached. It is demonstrated on the case of a specific Togolese processing plant that under favorable conditions, fossil fuel consumption can be decreased by 33 %. 相似文献

In this work, drying of bodies prepared by gelcasting fine submicrometre-sized zirconia particles was studied and a drying process for defect-free bodies with large cross-sections was proposed. It was found that the cracking of large bodies could be prevented by reducing the monomer content and using appropriate non-volatile cosolvents. Glycerol and polyethylene glycols with different molecular weights were used as non-volatile cosolvents in aqueous ceramic suspensions. The complex effects of the individual cosolvents on the gelcasting process and, in particular, on the drying step were investigated and explained. The applicability of individual cosolvents for the gelcasting process were discussed and their optimal use was indicated. 相似文献

In this study, the crystal structure, thermal, oxygen transport, electrical conductivity and electrochemical properties of the perovskite NdBa0.5Sr0.5Co2O5+δ (NBSC55) are investigated. In the temperature range of 250 °C–350 °C, the weight loss upon heating was due to a partial loss of lattice oxygen and along with a reduction of Co4+ to Co3+. The tend of weight-loss slows down as temperature increased above 350 °C indicating a reduction of Co3+ to Co2+ during this stage. The oxygen migration is dominated by surface exchange process at high temperature range (650-800 °C); however, the bulk diffusion process prevails at low temperature range (500–600 °C). For long-term testing, the polarization resistance of NBSC55 increases gradually form 3.13 Ω cm2 for 2 h to 3.34 Ω cm2 for 96 h at 600 °C and an increasing-rate for polarization resistance is around 0.22% h?1. The power density of the single cell with NBSC55 cathode reached 341 mW cm?2 at 800 °C. 相似文献

The effect of Li2O on the crystallization properties of CaO-Al2O3-SiO2-Li2O-Ce2O3 slags was investigated. With increasing the Li2O content, LiAlO2 and CaCeAlO4 were the main crystalline phases. LiAlO2 formed for the charge compensating of Li+ ions to [AlO45?]-tetrahedrons, and CaCeAlO4 formed as a result of the charge balance of Ce3+ ions, Ca2+ ions, and [AlO69?]-octahedrons. Increasing the content of Li2O to 10%, the crystallization temperature was the highest, and the incubation time was the shortest. The crystallization ability was strong due to the three factors of strengthening the interaction between ions and ion groups, decreasing the polymerization degree, and increasing the melting temperature. Further increasing the content of Li2O, the crystallization performance was obviously suppressed, because the melting temperature and the force between the cations and the anion groups decreased. 相似文献

Microalgae can efficiently fix carbon dioxide through their phototropic metabolism, and have been recognized as a promising bioresource for animal feed, health food, fuel, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical products. However, since microalgae in cultivated medium have a low biomass concentration (0.1–1% w/w), both harvesting and concentration of microalgal biomass are often required prior to the production of commercial products. Efficient and cost-effective dewatering and drying methods for microalgae heavily affect the overall energy consumption and production cost of microalgal products. This review describes the characteristics of commonly used dewatering and drying technologies, and critically evaluates the feasibility for their use to treat microalgal biomass. No single dewatering or drying method can satisfactorily handle all types of microalgae. This paper describes a novel method to measure emission from dryers. The method resolves the known difficulties caused by diffuse emissions, and also solves the problems associated with high moisture content of the drying medium. An experimental procedure was developed to study directly the process by which liquid bridges between small particles in a granule form and solidify. The evolution of saturated solutions of such pharmaceutical excipients as lactose and mannitol in a liquid bridge was studied on a system situated on a microscope slide. Solidification and crystallization kinetics and phase composition during and immediately following bridge formation were observed directly. It was shown that bridges on the microscope slide and in the granule behave very much the same regardless of the different length and diffusion-scales of the two systems.We found that solid bridge formation takes place in several consecutive but distinct steps. In the case of lactose, considerable shrinkage of the initial liquid bridge takes place prior to the onset of crystallization. Further bridge solidification at ambient conditions occurs via simultaneous crystallization and vitrification within minutes. As a result, a “solid” bridge usually contains both a crystalline and a non-crystalline phase, the crystalline phase being predominately α-lactose monohydrate. Most of the non-crystalline phase eventually converts to crystalline β-lactose but the process may take many hours or even days. Results for this process are compared for samples obtained from different manufacturers of commercially available lactose. In the case of mannitol, different polymorphic forms crystallize as the drying/crystallization process progresses. A formed “solid” bridge usually contains several polymorphs of mannitol. The relevance of the behavior of the two model systems (pure lactose and pure mannitol) to a real granulation and tabletting process is discussed. 相似文献

An experimental technique together with a numerical model is proposed with which the diffusion coefficient and the sorption isotherm of water in paint can be measured. Inside a closed vessel, paint films are on stainless-steel plates. Water is present as water vapour in the air and in the paint. After blowing dry or wet air through the vessel for some time, the situation moves to a new equilibrium. The relative humidity of the air inside the vessel is measured as a function of time. From fitting the theoretical/numerical model against the experimental values, follow the diffusion coefficient and the sorption isotherm of water in the paint. The results show large scattering. When the independently measured sorption isotherm is used as an input parameter in the model, the fitting procedure gives much smaller scattering for the diffusion coefficient. 相似文献
