Positioning a workpiece accurately and preventing weld distortion, tack welding is often adopted before main welding in the construction of welded structures. However, this tack weld deteriorates the final weld bead profile, so that the grinding process is usually performed for a uniform weld bead profile. In this study, a control system for uniform weld bead is proposed for the fillet arc welding on tack welds. The system consists of GMA welding machine, torch manipulator, laser vision sensor for measuring the tack weld size and the database for optimal welding conditions. Experiments have been performed for constructing the database and for evaluating the control capability of the system. It has been shown that the system has the capability to smooth the bead at the high level of quality.  相似文献

The effect of benzoyl peroxide loading on the adhesion properties of cross-linked epoxidized natural rubber (ENR 25)-based adhesives was studied using gum rosin and petroresin as tackifiers. Toluene and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) were used as solvent and coating substrate, respectively. The adhesion properties were determined by a Lloyd adhesion tester operating at 30 cm min?1. Results indicate that the loop tack and peel strength of gum rosin and petroresin pass through a maximum value at 2 parts per hundred parts of rubber (phr) and 3 phr benzoyl peroxide concentration, respectively, an observation which is attributed to the optimum cross-linking of ENR 25 where optimum, cohesive and adhesive strength is obtained. The shear strength, however, increases steadily with increasing benzoyl peroxide loading due to the steady increase in the cohesive strength. At the optimum benzoyl peroxide concentration, the petroresin-based adhesive consistently exhibits higher adhesion properties compared to that of gum rosin-based adhesives. The adhesion properties of both adhesive systems increase with increasing coating thickness.  相似文献

Tack and shear strength of styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR)-based pressure-sensitive adhesive were studied using gum rosin and petro resin as the tackifiers. The concentration of the tackifying resin was varied from 0 to 100 parts per hundred parts of rubber (phr). Toluene was used as the solvent throughout the experiment. The rolling ball technique was used to measure the tack of the adhesive, whereas, shear strength was determined by a TA-HDi Texture Analyser. Results show that the tack of the adhesive increases with increasing tackifier loadings for both tackifier systems. However, shear strength indicates the reverse behavior with increasing resin content, an observation which is attributed to the decrease in cohesive strength as the tackifier concentration is increased. Both tack and shear strength of the adhesives increases with molecular weight of SBR. Adhesive containing petro resin consistently exhibits higher values than the gum rosin system due to better wettability and compatibility in the former system.  相似文献

A reliable measure of the adhesion between a very deformable material and a solid surface is rather difficult, since the interface boundary conditions and the bulk deformation of the layer are closely and very nonlinearly coupled. In this article, a new methodology to assess the adhesion of a soft viscoelastic layer on a solid surface is proposed, where we have used a specific experimental geometry minimizing the bulk deformation of the layer. A flat-ended probe is first put in contact with a thin layer of soft material and removed at a constant velocity. The probe is then stopped at a preset level of tensile force and the time for complete debonding of the layer from the probe is measured. For our model system, comprised of a soft acrylic removable adhesive and a silicone-coated surface, the higher the applied force the faster the interfacial fracture occurs, leading to an experimental curve of the adhesion energy as a function of average crack velocity. We find that the methodology is relatively simple to implement and should be widely applicable for weakly adhering soft layers of arbitrary viscoelastic properties. The assumptions involved in such an analysis and their inherent limitations are also illustrated experimentally and critically discussed.  相似文献

The experimental determination of prepreg tack and dynamic stiffness   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
A new peel test has been developed which quantifies the tack and dynamic stiffness of uncured prepreg. The test is designed to simulate the automated tape lay-up (ATL) and automated fibre placement (AFP) processes. It includes a pressure controlled application stage, where contact time is inversely proportional to peel rate. The use of a thin film allows stiffness to be isolated from peel resistance in a continuous two stage test. A repeatability study revealed consistent results with 16% standard deviation. Tack and stiffness variability has been observed across roll width and between faces in commercial hand lay-up prepregs. The overall tack and stiffness values for commercial hand lay-up prepregs were found to be inconsistent with the levels specified by manufacturers.A temperature increase revealed inconsistent effects on tack between materials. The contradictory results were rationalised by observing failure modes. The two failure modes observed appeared equivalent to those found in pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) peel. The shear storage modulus of the prepreg resin was compared to the PSA Dahlquist criterion and found to support the principle of contact efficiency. However, the actual value for the criterion is expected to be a function of prepreg specific conditions such as resin content, fibre distribution and surface pattern.  相似文献

This study evaluates the influence of small additions of highly-purified attapulgite clays (0.2% and 0.5% addition by mass of cement) on the adhesive properties of cement pastes. Adhesive properties are measured by the tack test, a novel method of evaluating the rheological properties of granular materials. To better understand the results of the tack test as they pertain to cementitious materials, a highly concentrated material that is evolving due to thixotropic rebuilding and hydration, they are supplemented with a measure of the viscoelastic properties over time obtained through low-amplitude oscillatory shear rheometry. The influence of different preshear conditions and resting times (age of paste) on the adhesive properties are determined. Results show the tack test to be a suitable method for obtaining useful information about the adhesive properties and structural evolution of the material in the fresh state.  相似文献

Polymer blends are gaining importance in recent years because they provide a compromise of properties. In this paper, tack and green strength of several blends of EPDM and bromobutyl rubbers (BIIR) have been studied over a wide range of temperaures, contact times and rates.

Tack increases with increase in contact time and with increase in contact temperature up to 47°C for a particular blend. At a much higher temperature the tack strength falls gradually. Green strength increases with increase in bromobutyl content and decreases with temperature. Tack index, a ratio of tack strength divided by the cohesive strength under the same geometry, decreases slowly with the test temperature. At a 50:50 ratio of BIIR:EPDM, the two rubbers form an interpenetrating network as observed under the phase contrast microscope.  相似文献
