The objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of sodium benzoate as an inhibitor to slow down or prevent atmospheric
corrosion/discoloration of the local mild steel during storage in the Arabian Gulf region. Test specimens were prepared from
locally produced reinforcing steel products. The inhibitor solution was applied on steel specimens at a concentration of 100
mM for 1 day at room temperature. Wooden exposure racks were used to hold as-received and inhibitor-treated specimens during
atmospheric exposure for different periods. Corrosion was evaluated through weight loss determination and electrochemical
technique. As expected, the Arabian Gulf atmosphere was corrosive on the as-received local mild steel. On the other hand,
treatment of steel with sodium benzoate lowered its corrosion rate during initial days of its exposure to atmosphere. However,
atmospheric corrosion inhibition performance of sodium benzoate deteriorated with exposure time after 30 or more days of atmospheric
exposure, and the corrosion rates of sodium benzoate-treated specimens reached that of the unprotected specimens at the end

The glycine conjugation pathway in humans is involved in the metabolism of natural substrates and the detoxification of xenobiotics. The interactions between the various substrates in this pathway and their competition for the pathway enzymes are currently unknown. The pathway consists of a mitochondrial xenobiotic/medium-chain fatty acid: coenzyme A (CoA) ligase (ACSM2B) and glycine N-acyltransferase (GLYAT). The catalytic mechanism and substrate specificity of both of these enzymes have not been thoroughly characterised. In this study, the level of evolutionary conservation of GLYAT missense variants and haplotypes were analysed. From these data, haplotype variants were selected (156Asn > Ser, [17Ser > Thr,156Asn > Ser] and [156Asn > Ser,199Arg > Cys]) in order to characterise the kinetic mechanism of the enzyme over a wide range of substrate concentrations. The 156Asn > Ser haplotype has the highest frequency and the highest relative enzyme activity in all populations studied, and hence was used as the reference in this study. Cooperative substrate binding was observed, and the kinetic data were fitted to a two-substrate Hill equation. The coding region of the GLYAT gene was found to be highly conserved and the rare 156Asn > Ser,199Arg > Cys variant negatively affected the relative enzyme activity. Even though the 156Asn > Ser,199Arg > Cys variant had a higher affinity for benzoyl-CoA (s0.5,benz = 61.2 µM), kcat was reduced to 9.8% of the most abundant haplotype 156Asn > Ser (s0.5,benz = 96.6 µM), while the activity of 17Ser > Thr,156Asn > Ser (s0.5,benz = 118 µM) was 73% of 156Asn > Ser. The in vitro kinetic analyses of the effect of the 156Asn > Ser,199Arg > Cys variant on human GLYAT enzyme activity indicated that individuals with this haplotype might have a decreased ability to metabolise benzoate when compared to individuals with the 156Asn > Ser variant. Furthermore, the accumulation of acyl-CoA intermediates can inhibit ACSM2B leading to a reduction in mitochondrial energy production. 相似文献

以硝酸锆和钛酸四丁酯为原料,采用共沉淀法制备Ti-Zr-O氧化物载体,采用浸渍法制备了Mn/Ti-Zr催化剂;采用XRD、N2物理吸附、H2-TPR、NH3-TPD和TG-DTA对Mn/Ti-Zr催化剂进行了表征,并考察了催化剂组成、结构和反应条件对苯甲酸甲酯(MB)加氢性能的影响,以及催化剂的长周期稳定性、失活和再生行为。结果表明:TiO2含量和Mn负载量分别为12% 和8% (二者均以Ti-Zr-O氧化物的质量为基准,下同)时制备的Mn/Ti-Zr催化剂性能最优,该催化剂在θ = 390 ℃, p = 1.0 MPa,n(H2)∶n(MB) = 9∶1和重时空速(WHSV)= 0.5 h-1的优化条件能够实现98.0% 的苯甲酸甲酯转化率和89.7%的苯甲醛和苯甲醇选择性;苯甲酸甲酯加氢反应的活性和选择性分别与Mn/Ti-Zr表面MnOx物种的氧化还原性和催化剂的酸性密切相关。此外,Mn/Ti-Zr催化剂具有良好的结构稳定性,在反应1000 h后仅因积碳而丧失11% 的活性,且轻微失活的催化剂可以通过焙烧恢复其初始活性和选择性。 相似文献

In this research, the kinetics for synthesizing 4-acetylphenyl benzoate (R*COOR) from benzoylation of sodium 4-acetylphenoxide via third-liquid phase-transfer catalysis was investigated. The reaction rate was observed to be strongly dependent on agitation speeds in the third-phase catalytic reaction. By forming the third-liquid phase, the observed reaction can be greatly enhanced to give a product yield of 100% in a duration of 3 min at 20 °C and 200 rpm. If a third-liquid phase was not formed in the liquid–liquid system, the reaction rate is very slow and the product yield is only 2% in 3 min at 20 °C. The reaction conducted in third-liquid phase-transfer catalytic system is faster than that in LLPTC system by 25–28 times. The amount of catalytic intermediate (QOR) in the third-liquid phase was about 50% of the catalyst initially added and kept about 30% of it remained after 1 min, and only small amounts of a catalytic intermediate residing in the organic phase were observed during the reaction using methyl t-butyl ether as the solvent. The concentration of catalytic intermediate slightly decreased with increasing reaction time, while the molar ratio of QOR to benzyl tri-n-butylammonium cation in the third-liquid phase remained almost constant after 1 min and increased with increasing agitation speeds. The experimental results were well described by the pseudo-first-order kinetics. The present work shows an effective method to synthesize 4-acetylphenyl benzoate. 相似文献

论述了利用对甲苯磺酸,磺化苯磷酸锆,六水三氯化铁,氧化亚锡,十二水合硫酸铁铵,一水硫酸氢钠,固体超强酸和杂多酸等各种固体催化剂催化合成苯甲酸正丁酯的方法。研究发现:各种催化剂的催化效果良好,酯收率达74%以上,有的甚至达97.8%。同时对各种催化剂的催化机理进行了初步探讨,对各种固体酸的催化效果也进行了比较。 相似文献
