A deterministic model for partial elastohydrodynamic lubrication (EHL) is presented in this paper. The modelling methodology adopts some of the concepts used in the stochastic modelling of partial EHL and some of the procedures for deterministic calculation of asperity pressures. The model is shown to be capable of simulating the basic process of asperity interaction and solid-to-solid contact within an EHL conjunction of rough surfaces. Deterministic results of transient partial EHL in line contacts are obtained when one pair or multiple pairs of asperities collide. The model may help to gain a fundamental understanding of the transient behaviour of asperity interactions in lubricated concentrated contacts of rough surfaces. Asperity pressures may be calculated more accurately than the conventional analyses under dry and static contact conditions. The work represents a first attempt in deterministic modelling of tribo-contacts operating in the mixed regime of micro-EHL and boundary lubrication. Future work will aim at developing more realistic models incorporating factors such as three-dimensional asperity contacts, asperity plastic deformation, thermal effects and the effect of tribo-chemistry.  相似文献

The current paper contributes to the understanding of the behaviour of a smooth point EHL contact with a generalized Newtonian lubricant under pure rolling. The film thickness distribution was computed using a numerical simulation with measured rheological lubricant properties. The numerical predictions, obtained solving the generalized Reynolds equation were compared with film thicknesses measured in an optical ball-on-disc device. The numerical results correctly predict the absolute film thickness and the film thickness increase with rolling speed.  相似文献

In recent years, the techniques improving sliding performances have progressed by using coated films possessing superior tribological properties, to reduce the failures of the mechanical elements. Those techniques are often used under severe conditions such as elastohydrodynamic lubrication (EHL). In this paper, numerical three-dimensional analysis of the maximum shear stress applied into the coated film and substrate under a single EHL operating condition was performed with a range of coated film thickness and elastic properties. The strength of coated film as one of those techniques was evaluated numerically, resulting in an optimum design of coated film. As a result, coated films with a larger value of thickness and a smaller modulus of elasticity than that of substrate are preferable.  相似文献

Micro-scale textures may be engineered into surfaces for lubrication performance improvement. It is expected that a carefully chosen texture helps retain lubricant and enhances the hydrodynamic effect at the interface. The concept of model-based virtual texturing enables textured surfaces to be generated and “tested” through numerical simulations. This paper reports virtual texturing and simulation of a group of textured surfaces in a lubricated concentrated contact. The focus of the study is on the selection of texture distribution patterns based on their lubrication performance. Patterns of fishbone, sinusoidal, triangular, and honeycomb distributions have been investigated. The effects of texture direction, orientation angle, feature continuity, and aspect ratio are also studied. The results indicate that, for the given material and geometry system under the given conditions in the present work, the textures generating the strongest hydrodynamic lifting are short grooves with a small aspect ratio and sinusoidal waves of a small wavelength/amplitude ratio propagating in the motion direction.  相似文献

This paper presents a study on fatigue life in non-Newtonian thermal elastohydrodynamic lubrication (TEHL) point contacts with spinning. A numerical procedure is developed and extended to rolling contact fatigue (RCF) life. The results show that the effect of entraining velocity on the RCF life is closely related to ellipticity. The RCF life first decreases steeply and then gradually with increase in slide–roll ratio. However, the RCF life may increase slightly at a large slide–roll ratio. Spinning is beneficial for reduction of longitudinal friction coefficient; however, even for smooth surface contact, the RCF life can be slightly reduced by spinning.  相似文献

基于Hertz接触理论,对联合载荷作用下滚子-滚道进行接触分析,同时基于弹流润滑理论,建立风电主轴承润滑状态理论分析模型;以某型兆瓦级风电主轴承为例,采用该模型研究其极限工况下滚子-滚道接触载荷和接触应力分布、最大受载滚子沿素线方向的接触应力和接触载荷分布以及滚子-滚道接触处平均速度,并分析其在极限载荷工况下的润滑状态。结果表明:由于滚子端部应力集中,油膜沿素线呈现两端薄、中部厚特征;滚子-滚道沿素线油膜厚度与接触表面粗糙度处于同一数量级,接触表面质量对润滑状态有重要影响;改善轴承的润滑状态可从轴承结构、润滑参数及加工质量等方面入手。  相似文献
