The concept that plasticity index of soils can be defined as a range of water contents producing a 100-fold variation in undrained shear strength has been experimentally verified with the help of a large number of tests on soils of diverse nature. This has led to the redefinition of the plastic limit as the water content at which undrained shear strength is around 170 kN/m2. Undrained shear strength of a soil at the liquid limit can be considered to be around 1.7 kN/m2. Accordingly, both the liquid limit and the plastic limit have been determined in the present work by a single consistent method, i.e., the Swedish fall cone method. The undrained shear strength-water content relationship has been found to be log-linear for a wide range of water contents beginning from lower than the plastic limit to higher than the liquid limit. This resulted in the formulation of an expression for predicting undrained shear strength of a remolded soil at any water content based solely on its liquid limit and plastic limit.  相似文献

A plane elastic-plastic solid body presenting kinematic hardening is used to simulate a pair of dampers at the base of a rigid structure and determine the energy dissipation under conditions of assigned, homogeneous cyclic loading. The well-known von Mises theory of plasticity is applied with the aim of obtaining analytical solutions to the problem. Such solutions are arrived at by first calculating the Odqvist parameter, which yields dimensionless relations that depend on the external loads and mechanical properties of the material. The results, in terms of dissipated energy, are given for the case of a sinusoidal process, represented with the help of dimensionless parameters useful for engineering applications.  相似文献

将含铜和不含铜的两种TRIP钢板(0.2%C、1.5%Si、1.5%Mn)冷轧至1mm厚,然后分别在750℃、760℃、770℃、780℃下退火5min,最后在450℃等温3min,获得了不同含量和不同稳定性的残留奥氏体。金相和力学性能试验结果表明,铜元素能提高残留奥氏体量和钢板的力学性能;退火温度影响残留奥氏体量和力学性能,当退火温度选择在Ac1 10%时可获得最佳的力学性能。  相似文献

研究了石英砂的塑性并对其进行改善,得出石英砂颗粒大小、砖坯含水率、砖坯p H值和增塑剂含量对砖坯塑性的影响规律及机理,并且为利用石英砂而采用可塑成型去制备高性能的烧结砖探索出了合适的成型工艺条件:球磨时间24h、含水率为29%、坯料p H=9和增塑剂含量为5%。  相似文献

The breaking of water-in-crude oil emulsions is a major challenge in the conventional petroleum industry, while oil-in-water emulsions present similar issues in commercial oilsands extraction processes. The stability of these emulsions can be attributed to complex rheological properties of the crude oil-water interface. Novel micromechanical techniques are developed that allow direct measurements of interfacial behaviour of emulsion drops. In these techniques, individual emulsion drops are elongated using micropipettes, where one micropipette is shaped into a cantilever for force measurements. As such, the surface behaviour of a drop is recorded in stress-strain experiments. In an alternative technique, the extended drop is released from a micropipette, and its natural, tension-driven relaxation is observed.The surface behaviour of bitumen (a heavy crude oil) emulsion drops in aqueous environments, that include dissolved calcium ions and suspended montmorillonite clays, is studied. The plasticity and other surface properties of these bitumen drops are discussed. A simple, lumped-parameter model is developed to describe the recovery of a bitumen drops to their final non-spherical shapes.  相似文献

We have discovered a new Cu-based bulk metallic glass (BMG). Although of a simple Cu49Hf42Al9 ternary composition, the as-cast alloy is a monolithic, uniform BMG with a critical diameter as large as 10 mm. The width of the supercooled liquid region ΔTx and the reduced glass transition temperature Trg for this glass are 85 K and 0.62, respectively. In addition to its high glass-forming ability and high density of 11 g/cc, this BMG exhibits high ductility with a compressive plastic strain of 11–13%, making it a good candidate for applications as well as for studies of deformation behavior of Cu-based BMGs.  相似文献

Recent legal changes have increased the need for developing accessible user interfaces in computer-based systems. In this sense, previously existing user interfaces are intended to be modified and new user interfaces are intended to be designed taking accessibility guidelines into account. Typically, model-based approaches have been used when developing accessible user interfaces or redefining existing ones. But the use of static models leads to the development of not dynamically adaptable user interfaces. Dynamic adaptation in accessible user interfaces is important due to the fact that interaction difficulties on people with disabilities may change through use. In this paper, we present some contributions that can be obtained from the application of the Dichotomic View of plasticity in the personalization of user interfaces. With the double perspective defined in this approach, it is intended to go further from a mere adaptation to certain user stereotypes, offering also a dynamic support to real limitations or difficulties users can encounter during the use of the UI. This goal is achieved analyzing user logs by an inference engine that dynamically infers modifications in the user interface to adjust it to varying user needs. A case study is presented in order to show how the guidelines and software support defined in the Dichotomic View of plasticity can be applied to develop a component for a particular system aimed at performing dynamic user interface adaptations with accessibility purposes. This approach includes some innovations that make it different from conventional adaptable mechanisms applied to accessibility in some important aspects.  相似文献

This paper presents an extension to plasticity problems of a new error estimator on the constitutive relation which was introduced by P. Ladevèze in a recent paper. Numerical experiments show that this enhanced error estimator can lead to a significant improvement in the effectivity indexes in the case of anisotropic meshes, or when perfect plasticity is approached.  相似文献
