This paper proposes a new topological designmethod, named BXCQ, which optimizes logical networkconfiguration while guaranteeing Quality-of-Service(QoS) requirements for each service class in an ATMnetwork. The BXCQ method determines the optimum logicalnetwork topology associated with each service class soas to minimize network cost. In our previously proposedFull-Net architecture these different logical topologies can be suitably mapped at the sametime on the same ATM physical network by using theVirtual Channel Handler (VCH) to create differentlogical interconnection networks. The BXCQ method allows us to clarify the relations between multimediatraffic characteristics and desirable logical networkconfigurations in Full-Net. Evaluation results suggestthat a service class that is bursty, delay tolerant, and cell loss sensitive with small demandshould be supported by a loop-like topology. This studywill be useful for designing flexible and cost-effectivemultimedia networks that can also adapt to not-yet-known services.  相似文献

Our body consists of many body parts that are compliantly connected with each other by muscles and ligaments, and their behavior emerges out of the synergy of the whole-body dynamics. Such synergistic behavior generation is supposed to contribute to human adaptive movement such as walking. This paper describes designing synergistic walking of a whole-body humanoid robot whose joints are driven by artificial pneumatic muscles antagonistically. We propose to take an incremental design approach to deal with the complicated dynamics of the system. As a result, we can determine control parameters that govern whole-body behavior. We experimentally demonstrate that the humanoid walks stably with a simple limit-cycle controller.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose an improved design methodology to meet the changing demands of an existing automated container transportation system in which automated guided vehicles (AGVs) are used. This system is called an AGV transportation system. To achieve an improved design, it is essential to detect and correct any occurring bottlenecks. For this purpose, we exhaustively enumerate design proposals by constructing a logic tree. As a case study to verify the proposed methodology, we apply the methodology to an existing AGV transportation system. From the enumerated design proposals, we suggest design policies by considering the actual constraints of the transportation system. Finally, we redesign the transportation system as rapidly as possible. On the other hand, we keep system balancing into account; then, we derive a suitable demand and input number of AGVs under given specifications for a transportation system.  相似文献

This paper examines the role of grasper compliance and kinematic configuration in environments where object size and location may not be well known. A grasper consisting of a pair of two-link planar fingers with compliant revolute joints was simulated as it passively deflected during contact with a target object. The kinematic configuration and joint stiffness values of the grasper were varied in order to maximize successful grasp range and minimize contact forces for a wide range of target object size. Joint rest angles around 25–45 degrees produced near-optimal results if the stiffness of the base joint was much smaller than the intermediate joint, as confirmed experimentally.  相似文献

Abstract

Using computer aided design/computer aided manufacturing technology, an automatic welding system is designed and manufactured for high current, high speed, and high deposition metal arc active gas (MAG) welding. The welding torch structure is evaluated and optimised via the finite element method and practical welding technology experiments. Finally, the process of high deposition MAG welding is investigated, and it is highlighted that on application of a longitudinal magnetic field to the high deposition MAG welding process, a steady metal transfer and drop deposition condition can be achieved, which is suited to the demands of high current, high speed welding technology.  相似文献

Abstract

The computer aided optimal feeder design in the sand casting process is considered. The design problem is formulated as an additive evolutionary topology optimisation problem. The initial design of the presented method is a casting part which is placed in a suitable environmental mould box. The method is composed of three stages: determination of the feeder neck connection point, construction of the feeder neck and the feeder growth. During the growth stage, the feeder topology is improved gradually until satisfying some predefined criteria. The technological constraints and user contribution can be easily incorporated in the presented method. The success of the proposed method is supported by illustrative examples.  相似文献

In this paper, a visual marker called Coded Landmark for Ubiquitous Environment (CLUE) is proposed for easy robot manipulation using the RT-middleware component technology. Currently, home service robots are being expected to work in human living environments; however, such environments might be highly complex for robots. One of the solutions to solve such problems might be the development of structured environments for robots, such as visual marks in human living space, which could often be used in industrial fields, e.g., marked lines for mobile robots in industry. For application of structured environments from the factory to the human living environment, the affinity to humans might be important, such as marks invisible to humans, but visible to robots. In this paper, an invisible marker, CLUE, which is based on QR codes, is proposed; this will provide robots with information on the objects that are to be manipulated and visual guidance required for robot manipulation based on the RT-middleware platform. Finally, by means of actual robot applications, the method to use the proposed robot technology component is shown.  相似文献

Abstract

In this paper, experimental and numerical methods have been applied to the study of composite dynamics. Dynamic orthotropic photoelasticity is employed in the experimental work and the time domain boundary element method for anisotropic media is adopted for the numerical analysis. A fibre reinforced birefringent composite plate is used to model the semi-infinite orthotropic domain with a circular hole. A rifle bullet was used to exert the impact loading with the loading direction parallel and perpendicular to the fibre direction. In the experiments, the propagation, reflection, and diffraction of the stress wave around the hole were recorded and the results were analysed. The time histories of the stress components were obtained from the same experiments and compared with the results from the corresponding computations carried out using the time domain boundary element method. Some valuable data regarding composite dynamics and associated engineering implications were obtained. The comparative study also demonstrates the applicability and accuracy of the two methods for wave propagation problems in orthotropic media.  相似文献
