The effect of tempering on the magnetic Barkhausen noise (MBN) signal profile was studied in case-carburised EN36 steel using a range of magnetic excitation frequencies and a number of frequency ranges for analysis of the MBN signal. The MBN level generally increases with tempering due to coarsening of the microstructure. With higher values of excitation frequency, fEX, the MBN profile exhibits a single peak, but with low values of fEX, double peaks are observed. The MBN peak obtained with higher fEX was found to correlate well with hardness changes in a region, down to 100 μm below the surface. The analysis of the MBN signal produced with low fEX, in narrow frequency ranges selected by software frequency filtering, showed variations in the extent of changes in the relative height of the two MBN peaks in the profile. After taking into account the skin depth-frequency relation for the MBN signal, variations in the values of the two MBN peaks in different analysing frequency ranges were found to correlate well with hardness variations at different depths down to 425 μm below the surface. An empirical relationship has been established between the hardness-depth profile and the MBN measurements.  相似文献

This paper reports a study of the degradation processes suffered by steel samples painted with a high solid content epoxy coating. Because this coating shows a high resistance when exposed to NaCl solutions, HCl solutions were employed to accelerate the corrosion processes. Macroscopic images were used to observe the coating degradation. Then electrochemical techniques, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and electrochemical noise (EN) were employed to monitor the corrosion behaviour of the system studied. A close correlation was found between EIS and EN data. Several parameters were estimated using these techniques: Rpo, Rct, Cc, Cdl and Z0.1 Hz using EIS, and Rn using EN. In addition, a new parameter estimated by means of EN was employed, Z0.1 Hz(EN). The evolution of all these parameters with time enabled the effective monitoring of the degradation stage of the coating.  相似文献

This paper deals with the design of basement walls subjected to lateral earth pressure. The current simplified calculation method according to DIN EN 1996‐3/NA only covers active earth pressure, which is the lower limiting value of the earth pressure. Designing according to DIN EN 1996‐1‐1/NA, higher coefficients of earth pressure (like earth pressure at rest) can be considered, with an additional verification of the shear resistance being necessary. This paper presents a theoretical model, which forms the basis for an analytical derivation of the loadbearing capacity, and explains the required minimum values of the acting normal force to ensure sufficient resistance to cover bending and shear. Based on these results, a simplified equation is proposed for the determination of the required minimum normal force, based on the design according to DIN EN 1996‐3/NA and providing identical values in case of an earth pressure coefficient of 1/3. The required minimum load resulting from this approach fulfils the described requirement to cover bending and shear. The presented solution is verified and the conditions for application are defined. Finally, the minimum required normal forces are evaluated and tabulated for common cases relevant to building practice.  相似文献

Influences of testing technique and frequency on the fatigue behaviour of 50CrMo4 and EN AW-5083 were investigated. To clarify the effect of test frequency on the fatigue behaviour, tests with 20 kHz and f < 400 Hz were performed. The frequency effect can be caused by temperature, environment and strain rate. For the aluminium alloy, the influence of environment is responsible for the dependence of fatigue lifetime on the frequency. The fatigue lifetime of the steel showed in both environments similar frequency dependency, i.e. the strain rate is assumed to be responsible for the differences in fatigue lifetime.  相似文献

The alignment of aircraft fuselages in the aerospace sector is currently done either manually or by complex, expensive automated systems. The manual process introduces a significant production delay and the automated systems are purpose-built and have limited flexibility, apart from its financial drawback. This work proposes a low-cost, high-flexibility system and, as part of it, evaluates the performance of a Rotary-Laser Automatic Theodolite (R-LAT) as a feedback source for the adaptive robot control of an anthropomorphic manipulator. In the proposed solution the robot carries a fuselage barrel and aligns it with respect to a second barrel. A high accuracy, frequency-modulated laser equipment is used to generate the reference system for the procedure. The measurements of the R-LAT are then verified with the frequency-modulated laser equipment in order to determine the linear and angular alignment tolerances achieved by the robot/R-LAT closed loop in a predefined work envelope. A throughout, step-by-step analysis of the measuring procedure is carried out to allow the recognition of error sources and thus the determination of an optimized method. These results identify the operation boundaries of the R-LAT within the process and yield its best configuration for the intended purpose. Using the EN ISO 9283 robot evaluation standard, the closed loop system was found to attain the nominal position with an average accuracy of 0.38 mm and 0.01°, contrasting with an average accuracy of 4.53 mm and 0.21° when the robot was operating in an open loop configuration.  相似文献

Nowadays, refrigeration systems are important for industrial and domestic applications. The coefficient of performance of a vapour compression refrigeration system can be improved if a reduction in the work of compression can be achieved by a suitable technique for a specified heat removal rate. The present study investigates the effect of material coating of electroless nickel (EN) plating. The friction and wear experiments were performed using a four-ball machine tribo tester. Controlling the EN plating parameters plays an important role in the quality of coating. It depends on the wear scar rate of the coated material. So it is necessary to optimise the process parameters of EN plating. The experimental studies have been conducted under varying pressure, load and time on quality characteristics. In this paper, optimisation of process parameters using response surface methodology technique for EN plating was discussed.  相似文献

One particular aspect of a wide range of HVAC research at the US Center for Building Technology concerned interfacing DDC with the pneumatic system for one of the existing air handling units at the CBT building itself. Using solenoid air valves induced both positive and negative air leaks in the pneumatic system; this did not occur with motorised pressure regulators, though these produced a time delay whenever the regulator's direction of rotation was reversed. Details are given of an adaptive PI algorithm with a self‐tuning regulator approach, developed at CBT and implemented on the air handler in question. From the experience, it is strongly recommended that such an algorithm should be implemented on a positional basis.  相似文献
