Monitoring the presence of residues of tetracyclines in baby food samples by HPLC-MS/MS

Tetracyclin is a group of antimicrobial permitted in animal food production, but their concentrations in food of animal origin should not exceed 100 μg kg⁻¹ (in meat and milk). Although the detection of these substances above these limits involves fines and jail for the producer, residues of tetracyclines are still being detected in food a potential risk to consumer health, especially babies.In the past, baby foods were carefully prepared at homes. However, modern lifestyles have led to the commercialization of ready-made baby food. Generally, these products are made with vegetable and meat from different animals, such as pork, chicken or beef. The presence of tetracyclines in meat at concentrations above 100 μg kg⁻¹ is forbidden in Europe by the Regulation 37/2010. Consequently this concentration is also applicable to the portion of meat present in baby food. Even if the presence of tetracyclines is controlled regularly in meat, they should also be monitored in baby food as babies are vulnerable to such as drugs.A rapid analytical method based on high-performance liquid chromatography coupled to a tandem mass spectrometer (HPLC-MS/MS) for quantification of four tetracyclines (tetracycline, chlortetracycline, doxycycline and oxytetracycline) in baby food is presented. The tetracyclines are extracted with EDTA-McIlvaine buffer, acidified at pH 4.0, followed by liquid–liquid extraction with ethyl acetate. The final extract is analysed within 19 min on a Sunfire HPLC column from Waters. Validation was performed according to the Commission Decision 2002/657/EC. The mean accuracy was 103 μg kg⁻¹, and the mean precision, was less than 23% for all the tetracyclines. The method was tested on 31 prepared baby food samples containing vegetable and beef. The presence of oxytetracycline was detected in one of the samples at a concentration of 5 μg kg⁻¹.

GB 18655—2002中车载零部件发射测量骚扰限值的选择方法

通过实际的两个测试案例,分析讨论了在运用GB18655—2002对车载零部件进行发射测试时,选用适当的骚扰限值的方法。认为以标准中的辐射/传导骚扰的符合性判断流程图为主,宽带骚扰举例及窄带骚扰源的定义为辅,综合考虑,才能选择出适当的骚扰限值,得到正确的测试结果。     

HPLC confirmatory method development for the determination of seven quinolones in salmon tissue (Salmo salar L.) validated according to the European Union Decision 2002/657/EC

A confirmatory high pressure liquid chromatographic method for the determination of seven quinolone antibiotics in tissue of Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar L.) was developed. Ciprofloxacin (CIP), danofloxacin (DAN), enrofloxacin (ENR), sarafloxacin (SAR), oxolinic acid (OXO), nalidixic acid (NAL) and flumequine (FLU) were separated on a Perfectsil ODS-2 120 (250 mm × 4 mm, 5 μm) column by gradient elution with a mobile phase consisting of 0.1% trifluoroacetic acid (pH = 1), acetonitrile and methanol at 25 °C within 22 min. Analytes were monitored at 255 nm (for the determination of OXO, NAL and FLU) and 275 nm (for CIP, DAN, ENR and SAR) by means of photodiode array detector. Examined quinolones were isolated from salmon tissue by extraction with citrate buffer solution (pH = 4.7) and purified by solid phase extraction using Oasis HLB (200 mg/6 mL) cartridges. The developed method was fully validated in terms of selectivity, linearity, accuracy, precision, stability and sensitivity according to the European Union Decision 2002/657/EC. The accuracy of the method was additionally proved by its application to certified reference material of salmon tissue (BCR® 725).

Net pressures on the roof of a low-rise building with wall openings

This paper deals with an investigation of the characteristics of net pressures on two significant roof areas of a low-rise building with two different dominant wall openings. Wind tunnel boundary layer studies were conducted on a corner and a gable-end roof area of a 1:50 geometric scale model of the Texas Tech University (TTU) test building with a corner and a central wall opening. Mean and peak pressure coefficients, RMS values for the pressure coefficient fluctuations about their mean, as well as roof external pressure—internal pressure correlation coefficients were obtained for the entire 360° wind azimuth range. Frequency domain studies were also conducted for a few selected point roof pressure situations from which the frequency-dependent roof external pressure—internal pressure phase difference functions, root coherence functions and the spectral density functions were obtained. The results show that the mean, RMS and peak net pressure coefficients are particularly enhanced relative to the coefficients for the roof external pressure in the ±50° wind range. Zero-time-lag correlation coefficients of up to −0.64 were obtained in agreement with results from past studies, while root coherence values of up to 0.7 were also recorded. It is demonstrated that the provisions of both the Australian/New Zealand wind loading code—the AS/NZS1170.2:2002, and the American wind loading code—the ASCE7-02, are sometimes non-conservative in the prediction of mean and peak net roof pressure coefficients. These are believed to be due to non-conservative internal pressure coefficients allowed for in these codes.
