A function-to-task process model for adaptive automation system design

Adaptive automation systems allow the user to complete a task seamlessly with a computer performing tasks at which the human operator struggles. Unlike traditional systems that allocate functions to either the human or the machine, adaptive automation varies the allocation of functions during system operation. Creating these systems requires designers to consider issues not present during static system development. To assist in adaptive automation system design, this paper presents the concept of inherent tasks and takes advantage of this concept to create the function-to-task design process model. This process model helps the designer determine how to allocate functions to the human, machine, or dynamically between the two. An illustration of the process demonstrates the potential complexity within adaptive automation systems and how the process model aids in understanding this complexity during early stage design.

创造性叛逆最早由法国埃斯皮卡提出,后引入国内,在翻译界引起了很大的反响。由于文化差异等原因,在翻译文学作品时,创造性叛逆不可避免。海明威的《老人与海》是世界文学宝库中最为经典的著作之一,其中张白桦译本由于运用了创造性叛逆的翻译策略,成为诸多中译本中最为成功的译本。本文试图通过文本分析,探讨该译本创造性叛逆在女性主义倾向和文化差异上的具体体现。

＂意象＂是中国传统美学的核心要素,是中国古典诗歌的灵魂。＂意象＂生成的基础是人的审美体验。而＂花意象＂在古典诗词中俯拾皆是。＂花＂美丽的表象经过诗人词客主观的情感关照被赋予丰富的情感内涵,纷纷借＂花＂抒发情志,寄寓对生命的深切体悟。中国古典诗词中对＂花＂的描写,体现了中国人心灵深处人与自然交感互融的宇宙观和自然观,这种自然观直接导致了中国人审美化的人生态度。本文拟从古典诗词中的＂花意象＂探查中国传统美学中人与自然的关系,即中国古典美学的精神内核。     

Cognitive engineering of a new telephone operator workstation using COGNET

Many cognitive engineering methodologies for user-centered design involve modeling procedural knowledge; others deal with domain semantics or conceptual models. COGnitive NEwork of Tasks (COGNET) is a framework for modeling human cognition and decision-making which provides an integrated representation of the knowledge, behavioral actions, strategies and problem solving skills used in a domain or task situation, yielding a powerful cognitive engineering tool. A case study of the design of the user interface for a new telephone operator workstation is presented to illustrate the derivation of the design from the components of the COGNET model. The model does not directly convey any specific feature of the interface design, but rather a formal representation of what the user must do with the resulting interface. This information is then evolved through a set of transformations which systematically move toward design features, in a fully traceable manner.

Relevance to industry

With the increasing prevalence of technical systems in complex work domains, cognitive engineering is necessary in designing the user interface for those systems to promote efficient integration of person and machine. The cognitive engineering methodology presented here addresses that need.
