Controversy and consensus regarding the use of cognitive ability testing in organizations.

Seven hundred three members of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology indicated agreement or disagreement with 49 propositions regarding cognitive ability tests in organizations. There was consensus that cognitive ability tests are valid and fair, that they provide good but incomplete measures, that different abilities are necessary for different jobs, and that diversity is valuable. Items dealing with the unique status of cognitive ability were most likely to generate polarized opinions. A 2-factor model, classifying items as those reflecting societal concerns over the consequences of ability testing and those reflecting an emphasis on the unique status of "g," fit the data well, and these factors proved especially important for predicting responses to the more controversial items. 自媒体时代民间微公益现状及发展

自媒体时代下,以具参与性与公开性的微博为平台,民间微公益应运而生。民间微公益迅猛的发展得益于微博独特开放的传播特性,出现参与者众多的盛况,但同时,公益性信息管理的规范,草根大众对公益发起及运作的科学性,又成为民间微公益发展的重要掣肘。本文以免费午餐为个案,对其发展现状进行研究,并提出相关的解决对策。

苏州市社会组织管理体制建设与创新探析

加强和创新社会组织的管理对社会经济的发展有着重要的推动作用,能够促进政府职能的转型升级.苏州市社会组织的发展在全省处于领先地位,近年来亦着手对其管理体制改革进行探索.然而,在传统社会组织管理体制强大的惯性作用下,苏州市社会组织管理体制仍存在诸多弊病.为使社会组织更好地适应经济社会发展的需要,今后要进一步扩大政府购买服务的范围,创新登记手段,完善社会组织的监督机制,完善配套政策,构建支持平台,推动社区社会组织的发展.

Case‐based approach for supporting strategy decision making

The practice of strategy decision making proves that when the management board is strongly limited in its capacity to take rational actions, specifically in the context of great decision complexity and uncertainty, it is considered good practice to refer to experience through reasoning by analogy. In this paper, we would like to concentrate on supporting strategic decisions in small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The complexity of analogy‐based reasoning has its roots in an attempt to solve new problems based on past cases from a different domain, while we will focus on case‐based approach for a single domain. Additionally, we have chosen case‐based reasoning as a suitable decision‐making paradigm because it is corresponds to managers’ decision‐making behaviour. We present the STRATEGOS case‐based reasoning system for supporting strategic decision making by SMEs management boards and then the system evaluation by the dozens of chief executive officers (CEOs) from SMEs is presented. The results of the survey are promising and show the remarkable correspondence of the proposed solution with expectations and strategic behaviour of CEOs.     

水利工程管理单位职工队伍建设的思考与对策

2011年中央1号文件的出台为水利事业的发展提供了重大机遇,水利职工队伍的培育、建设和发展是水利事业发展的基本前提和重要保障。通过对江苏省属水利工程管理单位的职工队伍建设存在的问题展开剖析,在查找原因的基础上,提出发挥政策的＂水井效应＂、创新环境＂放水养鱼＂等建议,从体制机制、培养培训等方面提出加强职工队伍建设的对策。     

网格资源发现中移动Agent路径优化的研究

在对动态网格资源发现模型研究的基础上,改进了移动Agent在网格环境中的动态巡游策略.分析和比较了路径优化算法,在遗传算法和蚁群算法融合的基础上,提出了基于Agent的网格资源发现机制中进行路径优化的新方法,解决移动Agent为完成用户指定的资源发现任务在网格动态环境中移动时的迁移路径问题.实验结果表明了该算法的可行性,适应网格的动态性,以及提高网格资源发现的效率.     

Science as an ally of practice.

Well-founded criticisms of the Consumer Reports (CR; 1995) study of psychotherapy include possible bias of the CR sample; limitations of self-report; and the limitations of cross-sectional, retrospective data. Poorly founded criticisms concern "consumer satisfaction" and the claim that the remarkably good effects of long-term therapy resulted from spontaneous remission, that psychotherapy effects were small, and that nondoctoral providers did as well as doctoral-level providers. Both the experimental method (efficacy) and the observational method with causal modeling (effectiveness) answer complementary questions, and they both do so by eliminating alternative possible causes. Efficacy studies, however, cannot test long-term psychotherapy because long-term manuals cannot be written and patients cannot be randomized into two-year-long placebo controls, so the "empirical validation" of long-term therapy will likely come from effectiveness studies. Such studies of long-term therapy, of qualifications of providers, and of clinical judgment versus case management are urgently needed as practice confronts managed care.
