The 2004 Gold Medal Award for Life Achievement in the Application of Psychology was awarded to Edwin A. Fleishman, for his significant contributions to the science and applications of psychology, which he has sustained over his remarkable career. He is cited for his research, which has had a profound influence on our understanding of human capabilities, their measurement, their development, and their application in the world of work. Through his many influential leadership roles, as president of the International Association of Applied Psychology and three divisions of the American Psychological Association, and as editor of the Journal of Applied Psychology, he has helped shape our profession. In the past, equine color vision was tested with stimuli composed either of painted cards or photographic slides or through physiological testing using electroretinogram flicker photometry. Some studies produced similar results, but others did not, demonstrating that there was not yet a definitive answer regarding color vision in horses (Equus caballus). In this study, a pseudoisochromatic plate test--which is highly effective in testing color vision both in small children and in adult humans--was used for the first time on a nonhuman animal. Stimuli consisted of different colored dotted circles set against backgrounds of varying dots. The coloration of the circles corresponded to the visual capabilities of different types of color deficiencies (anomalous trichromacy and dichromacy). Four horses were tested on a 2-choice discrimination task. All horses successfully reached criterion for gray circles and demonstration circles. None of the horses were able to discriminate the protan-deutan plate or the individual protan or deutan plates. However, all were able to discriminate the tritan plate. The results suggest that horses are dichromats with color vision capabilities similar to those of humans with red-green color deficiencies. Senior managers can have a strong influence on organisational safety. But little is known about which of their personal attributes support their impact on safety. In this paper, we introduce the concept of ‘safety intelligence’ as related to senior managers' ability to develop and enact safety policies and explore possible characteristics related to it in two studies. Study 1 (N = 76) involved direct reports to chief executive officers (CEOs) of European air traffic management (ATM) organisations, who completed a short questionnaire asking about characteristics and behaviours that are ideal for a CEO's influence on safety. Study 2 involved senior ATM managers (N = 9) in various positions in interviews concerning their day-to-day work on safety. Both studies indicated six attributes of senior managers as relevant for their safety intelligence, particularly, social competence and safety knowledge, followed by motivation, problem-solving, personality and interpersonal leadership skills. These results have recently been applied in guidance for safety management practices in a White Paper published by EUROCONTROL.  相似文献

建立企业家精神和动态能力的指标体系是研究企业家精神对动态能力形成影响的基础。在对苏北地区几百家企业高层管理人士的问卷调查基础上,实证分析企业家精神对动态能力形成的影响,研究表明,总体上企业家精神对动态能力的形成呈现正相关关系,但企业家精神不同因子对动态能力形成的影响程度不同。为了提升动态能力水平,企业应从创新精神、机会敏感性、冒险责任意识、进取精神和宽容精神等方面加强企业家精神建设。  相似文献

Integrating products and services to customized solutions can help firms to differentiate from their competitors. In practice, however, various companies fall short in extracting value from their customers. Therefore this paper focuses on pricing aspects as central means for value appropriation in the context of solutions. Following the resource-based view of the firm, we adopt a process-oriented perspective on pricing practices in order to identify crucial factors and activities. Based on 15 in-depth interviews with practitioners from various industries we derive six steps of a price management process for value appropriation in the context of solution selling and present critical activities and routines within each step.  相似文献

目前主流的网络安全防护体系是外嵌的,安全体系与业务体系分离,安全产品相互孤立,在防护能力上难以高效应对越来越复杂的网络安全挑战。网络安全从外向内进行强基,势在必行。将网络安全的业务场景归纳为组织、厂商、监管和威胁四方视角,各视角具有不同的业务目标。从四方视角的共性和个性出发,系统性归纳网络安全生态的能力需求,提出内禀安全方法论。内禀安全能力是指ICT组件原生支撑监测、防护和溯源等安全功能的能力。内禀安全能力对网络安全具有基础支撑作用,本身不是最终的安全功能实现,与现有的“内生安全”“内设安全”等方法论所针对的问题不同。内禀安全强调网络组件内在的安全赋能禀赋,有两种方式可以发掘这种禀赋,一是通过先天安全能力激活,二是外嵌能力内化,对外在逻辑上表现出自体免疫。此类组件的优势之一在于业务与安全的内聚,能够透明化感知安全态势、定制化配置安全策略、贴身化执行安全保护;优势之二在于将业务功能与安全功能进行合并封装,简化整体工程架构,降低网络管理复杂度。进一步提出了内禀安全支撑能力框架,对符合内禀安全理念的安全能力进行归纳和枚举,将安全支撑能力分为采集、认知、执行、协同和弹复5类,并进一步介绍各类能力的子类型和基础ICT技术。基于该框架,介绍了典型安全业务场景在内禀安全理念下的增强实现。  相似文献

Exogenous crises, while disruptive, may also present learning opportunities that could affect a firm's viability and performance. In this study, we examine how exogenous crises can constitute learning opportunities and assess their impact on firm survival. In particular, we investigate the role of learning in response to exogenous crises and how firm resilience, innovation capabilities, and environmental dynamism influence this relationship. Drawing from crisis management and organisational learning literature, we propose that these factors can bolster the connection between learning from crises and firm survival. To test our hypotheses, we conduct a nuanced analysis using both regression analysis and Fuzzy Set Qualitative Comparative Analysis (fsQCA) on data from 249 Italian manufacturing Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs). This approach allows us to simultaneously examine the impact of firm resilience, innovation capabilities, and environmental dynamism on the relationship between learning from crises and firm survival. Our findings offer theoretical and practical insights into the role of learning from crises in a firm's survival. They also highlight the importance of embracing learning opportunities in crisis situations and suggest that how firms deal with crises could be an opportunity to fine-tune their internal processes and thrive in the long run.  相似文献
