Coaching CEO successor candidates is challenging and deeply nuanced in the best of circumstances. The stakes rise exponentially when the sitting CEO owns the company, resents having "anointed" an eventual successor, and has been phenomenally successful despite the bruising effects of his narcissism and toxic micromanagement. This case study describes how a data-driven, insight-oriented coaching methodology helped the CEO candidate accelerate his effectiveness, instill hope in the organization, and forge a more stable relationship with the CEO--a sufficiently functional relationship for the future CEO to decide to remain with the company. Furthermore, this work highlights the importance of clinical skills and 3 coaching meta principles (traction, trust, and truth-telling). Finally, this longer term coaching engagement illustrates the dynamic role shift from coach to trusted advisor. Through this deepened relationship, coaching gains were consolidated and an objective sounding board was retained for both the CEO and his eventual successor. 肉桂精油抗氧化性能及清除自由基能力的研究   总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4  
对肉桂精油(CEO)的抗氧化和清除游离基活性的比较是基于总体抗氧化能力、清除超氧阴离子自由基能力、清除羟基自由基能力、抗亚油酸脂质过氧化能力、清除DPPH自由基5个方面,并与其他的合成抗氧化剂如BHT、PG做比较。实验结果表明,在一定浓度范围内,CEO的羟自由基清除能力强于BHT和PG;清除超氧阴离子自由基的能力强于PG;清除DPPH自由基能力、抗氧化活性比BHT和PG弱;CEO抑制亚油酸的过氧化能力比BHT和PG略弱。实验表明了CEO在某些方面具有良好的抗氧化效果。  相似文献

This study focuses on the influence of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) characteristics on environmental information disclosure (EID) in the annual reports of companies listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand. A regression analysis method is used to explore the relationship between CEO characteristics and corporate environmental disclosure. Pollution-intensive companies are taken as the samples in this study. Results show that financial expertise, educational level, and tenure of CEOs are positively correlated with corporate EID. By contrast, age or gender of CEOs is insignificantly related to EID.  相似文献

A developing society needs to adapt to change and foster creativity. In the pursuit of continual improvement (e.g., reducing fossil-fuel consumption and waste, better service performance, greater availability and improved reliability), implementing wise maintenance-schedules is essential for contemporary organisations. Several studies of a wide range of Nigerian industries indicate that indigenous low availability and low productivity are endemic. The resulting closure of some of these industries has triggered off a realisation of the strategic challenges in maintenance management. In addition, the increasingly-competitive business environment in Nigeria has raised the strategic importance of maintenance functions, especially in organisations with significant investments in physical assets. Five strategic aspects of maintenance management have been identified, namely: maintenance methodology; support processes; organisation and work structuring; comparable culture; and general management policy. Three factors that permeate these dimensions are wise leadership, excellent communications and an understanding of the human factors involved.  相似文献

Abstract

Severe pitting corrosion occurred in a horizontal steel pipeline used to transport multiphase fluid, including water, oil, and natural gas, after 2 months of service. The pitting corrosion rate was up to 42 mm/year. Chemical analysis, X-ray diffractometry, and EDAX showed that the corrosion products mainly consisted of Fe9 S8, FeCO3 , and NaCl. Calcium containing inclusions were also found in the matrix of the steel, which may accelerate corrosion. The early failure was attributed to the high proportion of water, the slow flow velocity, and the use of unqualified material.  相似文献

基于高层梯队理论,对沪、深两市的87家上市机械行业公司CEO的背景特征与企业绩效之间关系进行了实证分析。研究结果表明:CEO具有政府背景对企业绩效有显著积极影响;任期与企业绩效显著正相关;女性CEO所在上市公司的盈利能力显著低于男性CEOCEO年龄与企业发展能力呈负相关关系。  相似文献

Nature has always been a muse for those who dream in art or science. As it goes, optimization algorithms inspired by nature have been widely used to solve various scientific and engineering problems because of their intelligence and simplicity. As a novel nature‐inspired algorithm, the crystal energy optimizer (CEO) is proposed in this article. The proposed CEO is motivated by the following general observation on lake freezing in nature: the dynamics of crystals have possession of parallelism, openness, local interactivity, and self‐organization. It stimulates us to extend a crystal dynamic model in physics to a generalized crystal energy optimizer for traveling salesman problems, so as to exploit the advantages of crystal dynamic system and to realize the aforementioned purposes. The proposed CEO has these advantages: (1) it has the ability to perform large‐scale distributed parallel optimization; (2) it can converge and avoid local optimum; and (3) it is flexible and easy to adapt to a wide range of optimization problems.  相似文献

Although theory suggests that CEOs who engage in transformational leadership should have a positive effect on firm performance, most empirical examinations using data drawn from larger firms have failed to find support for this linkage. Given that the organizational complexity associated with larger firms has been viewed as a central obstacle to establishing this important link, the authors examined the impact of CEO transformational leadership on firm performance in smaller, privately held firms. After first explaining why the less complex context of these firms provides a setting for transformational CEOs to play a more direct role in enhancing firm performance, they then further clarified the nature of this link by hypothesizing 3 contingencies that they argued are particularly salient: firm size, CEO founder status (founder or nonfounder), and CEO tenure. Results from a multisource survey of CEOs and their top management teams in 121 firms and 2 time-lagged measures of performance, 1 objective and 1 perceived, provided consistent support for these hypotheses. This study examines the relationship between the background of an organization’s top information systems executive or chief information officer (CIO) and what a CIO does. It provides a somewhat different picture of the much discussed relative merits of a CIO’s background. Findings indicate that a technical background has little relationship to what the CIO does once they become CIO. Where they are hired from, however, does relate to reporting line, business focus, and how and with whom they spend their time once hired. These findings will enable more effective CIO hiring and development activities, and inform future research.  相似文献
