A one-step procedure is described for the synthesis of (E)-2-nonenal from commercial castor oil by ozonolysis in methanol, followed by reduction of the ozonide products with dimethyl sulfide and exposure of the resulting intermediate product to dilute sulfuric acid. The developed process allows the production of the aldehyde with a yield of 80% at a purity of 95%. The method has advantages over all those reported earlier, because of inexpensive raw material and reducing agent, recycling of the solvent and its unusual simplicity.  相似文献

The dehydration reaction kinetics of castor oil was investigated with sodium bisulfate-sodium bisulfite mixture (SB-SB) or p-toluenesulfonic acid as catalyst. Reactions were carried out at 210, 220, and 230°C, and a kinetic model was determined for each case. The reactions with SB-SB catalyst at 210 and 220°C and with p-toluenesulfonic acid at 210°C followed second-order kinetics. A first-order rate equation showed the best fit to the experimental data for the reaction with SB-SB at 230°C. p-Toluenesulfonic acid-catalyzed reactions at 220 and 230°C were also first-order reactions. Additionally, some mathematical equations were derived between iodine value, refractive index, viscosity, and reaction time.  相似文献

Summary  Over the past few years, the challenges of globalisation, consolidation and economical point of view have meant that manufacturers of epoxy formulations have to constantly improve their capability to meet the needs of customers. An active area for advancement is that of epoxy and polyamide resin with castor oil. Generally, people working in the coating industries are familiar with castor oil, but this paper provides information on the new use of castor oil in epoxy and polyamide resin. This novel product (castor oil-modified epoxy resin/castor oil-modified polyamide) provides a previously unattainable combination and improved flexibility and toughness to a variety of ambient cure applications. This communication will review the performance of these castor oil-modified epoxy and polyamide resin surface coatings and adhesives. Based on the results of this study, these systems offer some advantages without much affecting the traditional properties of epoxy and polyamide resin in a variety of applications.  相似文献

Unoccupied beaver (Castor canadensis) sites in New York State were for two years experimentally scented with a mixture of beaver castoreum and anal gland secretion. These sites were colonized less often than unscented control sites. The beaver is the first mammal to have been shown experimentally to use intraspecific odor cues when settling in vacant habitat. Territorial pheromones may be useful as repellents for beaver or other rodents.  相似文献

以异佛尔酮二异氰酸酯(IPDI)、蓖麻油(CO)和丙烯酸羟乙酯(HEA)合成了蓖麻油基聚氨酯丙烯酸酯(COPUA),以正硅酸乙酯(TEOS)和3-(异丁烯酰氧)丙基三甲氧基硅烷(MEMO)通过溶胶-凝胶法制备了改性硅溶胶,作为无机相与COPUA有机相复合得到了UV固化COPUA/SiO2杂化材料。调节MEMO与TEOS的配比得到一系列改性硅溶胶,通过测试确定了MEMO与TEOS的最佳配比为1:1(MT-1)。在此基础上,改变MT-1的添加量得到UV固化COPUA/SiO2杂化材料。用FT-IR、TEM、SEM、TGA等对杂化材料和涂层进行结构表征,测试复合涂层的力学性能和表面性能。当MT-1添加量为COPUA树脂质量的15%时,涂层内部SiO2粒子分布均匀,涂层表面光滑平整,光透过率达到100.2%,硬度为5H,附着力0级,柔韧性1mm;涂膜拉伸强度达到13.52MPa,断裂伸长率为7.49%。  相似文献

The depletion of fossil fuels has caused the price of petroleum to rise remarkably and created need for alternative energy such as biodiesel. In the present study, the biodiesel was produced from castor oil using ferromagnetic zinc oxide nanocomposite as heterogeneous catalyst for transesterification reaction. Single phase of nanocatalyst were confirmed by X-Ray Diffraction analysis. The spherical shape of the aggregated nanocatalyst was observed in Scanning Electron Microscopy. Magnetic properties were analysed using vibrating sample magnetometer. Atomic Force Microscopic analysis revealed the larger surface area and roughness of nanocatalyst. The biodiesel yield of 91% (w/w) was obtained in 50 min at 55 °C with 14 wt % catalyst loading and 12:1 methanol/oil ratio and was confirmed by Gas chromatograph with Mass Spectrometer. The result showed that the iron (II) doped ZnO nanocatalyst is a promising catalyst for the production of biodiesel via heterogeneous catalytic transesterification under milder reaction conditions.  相似文献

We report the synthesis of castor oil and ricinoleic acid capped CdS nanoparticles by the thermolysis of piperidine (1) and tetrahydroquinoline (2) dithiocarbamate complexes of cadmium(II) at temperatures varying from 190 °C to 300 °C. Reaction parameters such as time and temperature were varied to study their effect on the properties and morphology. The optical properties of CdS were typical of particles that displayed quantum confinement effects. X-ray diffraction studies revealed the existence of both cubic and hexagonal phases depending on the reaction conditions. Ricinoleic acid capped CdS gave cubic phase particles whereas castor oil capped CdS gave both cubic and hexagonal phases dependent on the reaction temperature and the type of complex used. The morphology of the particles varied from oval-short rods to spherical shaped particles with sizes ranging from 10 to 22 nm. Rhodamine B (RhB) dye photodegradation studies of a representative CdS nanoparticles’ sample have been carried out in the presence of halogen light and studied using UV–visible spectroscopy.  相似文献

To facilitate the analysis of castor (Ricinus communis L.) seed fractions and germplasm for ricin content, we investigated the use of enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) methods to differentiate between ricin toxin and the related Ricinus communis agglutinin (RCA). Both proteins are based on a heterodimeric AB structure, with a common A chain. RCA comprises two dimers of A and B chains. Both proteins are found in the meal remaining after castor oil extraction and impede the commercial production of castor seed in the USA. We identified pairs of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) that could distinguish between the structurally related proteins that share a common A chain. Antibody specificity was determined by ELISA and checked by immunoblotting. We found that mAb–mAb pairs afforded quantification of each castor protein, and that a mAb paired with a commercial polyclonal antibody provided detection of both with comparable sensitivity.  相似文献
