Thermodynamics of ionic-association in aqueous solutions of Ca and Mg organic salts using ion-selective electrode technique—II. benzoate, o-toloate, o-chlorobenzoate and salycylate

The stoichiometric association constants, K, the thermodynamic association constant, K_A, and the other thermodynamic parameters such as ΔS°, ΔH° and ΔG° for the association between each of the Ca and Mg ions with benzoate, o-toloate, o-chlorobenzoate and salycylate have been determined at 25°C, 35°C and 45°C in aqueous media. Ion-selective electrode technique has been used in the measurements of Ca and Mg ion activitiesThe trend of association behavior of both Ca and Mg aromatic salts could not be explained on the basis of pK_a of the mother organic acids but could be explained based on the trend of Hammet function σ of these salts themselves relative to the corresponding benzoate salt.

《雷雨》的希腊悲剧血统——兼与《俄狄浦斯王》比较

在中国现代戏剧发展史上，曹禺是西方戏剧营养的最大受益者。这其中，希腊悲剧的影响尤其深刻。本文通过《雷雨》与最能代表古希腊悲剧特征的《俄狄浦斯王》的比较，试图从遗传与继承的角度，对《雷雨》中所“流淌”的古希腊悲剧血统做另类探究。     

Captured Kriegsmarine Enigma Documents at Bletchley Park

Abstract

The discovery of intercepts in the Japanese “Orange Translations” regarding the sinking of merchant ships (marus) bearing allied POWs led to the conclusion that the Joint Intelligence Center Pacific Ocean Area (JICPOA) gave latitudes and longitudes of these vessels to the Commander, Submarine Force, Pacific (ComSubPac) knowing that POWs would be killed. An examination of the “Orange Translations” reveals that most of the intercepts are from the Japanese Water Transport Code (2468) system, not the “Maru Code” (JN-11). The author concludes that while JICPOA provided ComSubPac with convoy coordinates, they were unaware of the presence of POWs on the marus.
