This study examined several accidents over the last 56 years in the offshore drilling of petroleum. The aim is to examine the situation in relation to jack-ups, drill ships, semi-submersible and platforms and have a better awareness and understanding which may reduce the number of accidents. The materials examined were available published reports and data on exploration and production activities. From 219 accidents recorded the highest was due to blowouts with 46.1%, followed by storms and hurricanes with 15.1% and structural failures with 11.4%. High fatalities occurred at the Funiwa 5 platform in Nigeria with 230, the Piper Alpha platform in the North Sea with 167 and the Keilland semi-submersible in Norway. Other high fatalities were recorded at the Ocean Ranger fire and sinking, Java Sea sinking, Bohai 2 and Bohai 3 fire and sinking. Worker training and discipline must be maintained at a high level. Parametric and statistical investigation of the behavior of a lifted flame over a turbulent free-jet structure 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Partially premixed combustion is involved in many practical applications, due to partial premixing of combustible and oxidant gases before ignition, or due to local extinctions, which lead to mixing of reactants and burned gases. To investigate some features of flames in stratified flows, the stabilization processes of lifted turbulent jet flames are studied. This work offers a large database of liftoff locations of flames stabilized on turbulence-free jets for different fuels and nozzle diameters studied over their flame stability domains. Methane, propane, and ethylene flames are investigated for nozzle diameters of 2, 3, 4, and 5 mm. Blowout velocities are measured and compared with an approach based on large-scale structures of the jet. The axial and radial locations of the flame base are measured by planar laser-induced fluorescence (PLIF) of the OH radical through high sampling (at least 5000 points). From this large database the average locations of the flame base are analyzed for the fuels investigated. The pdfs exhibit an evolution of their shapes according to the region of the turbulent jet where the flame stabilizes (potential core, transition to turbulence, or fully developed turbulence regions). This dependence is probably due to the interaction of the flame with the jet structures. This is confirmed by the comparison between the amplitude of the height fluctuations and the local size of the large-scale structures deduced from particle image velocimetry measurements and self-similarity laws for velocity. The results show the flame can be carried over a distance equal to the local diameter of the jet within the region of fully developed turbulence for propane and ethylene, and over a slightly larger distance for methane. 相似文献

A shear ram is of great significance to ensuring the safe operation of oil/gas well drilling and production, but the mechanical properties of the ram itself in the shearing process are rarely researched. Based on the basic motion law of the shear ram, combined its structural and operating parameters comprehensively, a model for solving the stress on the cutting edge was established corresponding to three stages (i.e., shear point contact, cutting and penetrating the drill pipe) according to the wedge stress theory. Then, based on the novel shear ram, the numerical simulation and indoor shear experiment were carried out on CT90 coiled tubing to understand the variation laws of ram stress and shear point stress in the shearing process. And the following research results were obtained. First, when the shear point doesn’t contact with the CT90 coiled tubing, the stress at the V-shaped angular center of the ram is the largest, and that at the shear point is extremely small. Second, when the shear point just touches the CT90 coiled tubing, the phenomenon of stress concentration occurs in the vicinity of the shear point of the ram cutting edge. Third, when the shear point cuts into the CT90 coiled tubing, the stress on the shear point and on both sides of the wedge edge is the largest, reaching the strength limit of the ram (1 050 MPa). Fourth, when the shear point enters the annulus after penetrating the CT90 coiled tubing, the ram stress on both sides of the junction between the cutting edge chamfer and the vertical plane is the largest. Fifth, After the CT90 coiled tubing is cut, crack damage occurs in the vicinity of the shear point of the ram cutting edge. In conclusion, the research results can better reflect the stress state of the ram cutting edge and its interaction with the drill pipe in the shearing process, and can provide an important reference for the design, manufacturing and the correct field application of shear rams. 相似文献
