The paper analyses the corrosion behaviour of naturally and artificially aged AA2024 alloy in NaCl solution and in the presence of an environment-friendly corrosion inhibitor, CeCl3. On the basis of the values of polarisation resistance and corrosion current density, the corrosion resistance of the protective inhibitor film is established as well as the general corrosion resistance of this aluminium alloy. Resistance to pit formation is determined based on the difference in pitting and corrosion potentials while resistance to pit growth is determined based on the amount of charge consumed during pit growth. A scanning electron microscope is used to examine the morphology of the pits formed during the pitting corrosion testing, as well as to determine the cerium content on intermetallic particles and the matrix AA2024 alloy. The corrosion behaviour of AA2024 alloy is investigated after different test periods in NaCl solution and in the same solution with the CeCl3 inhibitor. The corrosion resistance of both tempers of AA2024 alloy is more than one order of magnitude higher in the presence of CeCl3. An explanation of the observed differences in the corrosion behaviour of the naturally and artificially aged AA2024 alloy is proposed. Different corrosion behaviour of the alloy after different test periods is also explained. 相似文献

The behavior of a number of rare earth oxides as catalysts for the oxidation of graphite in air has been investigated by the methods of thermal analysis. Of the oxides studied, only CeO2 showed significant activity in accelerating the gasification of graphite by oxygen between 500 and 1000°C. Cerium salts, which decompose to a finely dispersed oxide phase at low temperatures, e.g. Ce (III) nitrate and ammonium Ce (IV) nitrate, were found to be very active catalysts. The catalytic effect may be due to a redox process involving the cyclic conversion of the oxide from the Ce (IV) to the Ce (III) oxidation state, or the oxide particles may provide sites for the dissociative chemisorption of oxygen. 相似文献

A new method of studying the corrosion inhibition mechanism of rare earth metal(REM) on LC4 Al alloy with the spilt cell technique was studied. The principle and experimental method of the spilt cell technique were analyzed. By measuring the change of net-electric current between the two electrodes caused by the change of the amount of oxygen in the solution and the addition of CeCl3, the influence of corrosive performance of CeCl3 on LC4 super-power aluminum alloy in the 0.1 mol·L−1 NaCl solution was investigated. Magnetic characterization has been performed on the members of the cuprateniobate RBa2Cu2NbO8 (R = Pr, Nd, and La) series and R1.5Ce0.5Sr2Cu2NbO10 (R = Pr, Eu, Nd, and Sm) series. The PrBCNO samples show a signature in the magnetization of a magnetic ordering at 12K.
The PrCSCNO sample is nonsuperconducting and shows two distinct orderings at 17K and 53K. No such magnetic phase transition
is observed down to 2K in the Nd and La based RBCNO materials or the Nd, Sm, and Eu based RCSCNO materials. Measurements of

Electrical resistance, thermal expansion, lattice constants of the intermediate valence materials, α-Ce and CeBe13, were measured at high pressure. It is found that the Grttneisen parameters of Kondo temperature TK are 13 and 42 for α-Ce and CeBe13, respectively, and it decreases with increasing pressure. The magnetoresistance of α-Ce shows H^2 dependence and its coefficient increases with pressure below 1 GPa, but becomes nearly constant above 1 GPa. The results indicate that the intermediate valence states are enhanced at high pressure indicating the enhancement of hybridization between the 4f electron and conduction band. 相似文献
