In this study, the function of a LEA gene (TaLEA1) from Tamrix androssowii in response to heavy metal stress was characterized. Time-course expression analyses showed that NaCl, ZnCl(2), CuSO(4), and CdCl(2) considerably increased the expression levels of the TaLEA1 gene, thereby suggesting that this gene plays a role in the responses to these test stressors. To analyze the heavy metal stress-tolerance mechanism regulated by TaLEA1, TaLEA1-overexpressing transgenic poplar plants (Populus davidiana Dode × P. bollena Lauche) were generated. Significant differences were not observed between the proline content of the transgenic and wild-type (WT) plants before and after CdCl(2) stress. However, in comparison with the WT plants, the TaLEA1-transformed poplar plants had significantly higher superoxide dismutase (SOD) and peroxidase (POD) activities, and lower malondialdehyde (MDA) levels under CdCl(2) stress. Further, the transgenic plants showed better growth than the WT plants did, indicating that TaLEA1 provides tolerance to cadmium stress. These results suggest that TaLEA1 confers tolerance to cadmium stress by enhancing reactive oxygen species (ROS)-scavenging ability and decreasing lipid peroxidation. Subcellular-localization analysis showed that the TaLEA1 protein was distributed in the cytoplasm and nucleus.  相似文献

Disordered plant chaperones play key roles in helping plants survive in harsh conditions, and they are indispensable for seeds to remain viable. Aside from well-known and thoroughly characterized globular chaperone proteins, there are a number of intrinsically disordered proteins (IDPs) that can also serve as highly effective protecting agents in the cells. One of the largest groups of disordered chaperones is the group of dehydrins, proteins that are expressed at high levels under different abiotic stress conditions, such as drought, high temperature, or osmotic stress. Dehydrins are characterized by the presence of different conserved sequence motifs that also serve as the basis for their categorization. Despite their accepted importance, the exact role and relevance of the conserved regions have not yet been formally addressed. Here, we explored the involvement of each conserved segment in the protective function of the intrinsically disordered stress protein (IDSP) A. thaliana’s Early Response to Dehydration (ERD14). We show that segments that are directly involved in partner binding, and others that are not, are equally necessary for proper function and that cellular protection emerges from the balanced interplay of different regions of ERD14.  相似文献

The LEA model has been analyzed by comparing to other Chromatographic theoretical approaches. In the LEA model a layer of equilibrium adsorption, Le, serves as an effective kinetic constant. For the layer Le the concentration issuing from this layer is in equilibrium with the average value of adsorption on the whole layer at any moment of time. The value of Le is determined from all factors which broaden the Chromatographie zone. Such an approach permits us to combine the features of the mass balance (solute continuity in a Chromatographie column), of the mass transfer phenomenon, and of the adsorption isotherm into a single first order differential equation. Apart from other layer-by-layer models, the LEA model supposes that over the whole column a continuous (real) distribution of adsorption a (L, t) and concentration c (L, t) is observed. The usefulness of the LEA model in developing a Chromatographic theory has been discussed.  相似文献

局部嵌入分析(LEA)是图嵌入化的局部线性嵌入(LLE)方法。在头姿态估计问题上,选择局部邻域时只考虑属于同一类的姿态,但失去了相邻姿态的几何拓扑信息。为此,提出一种改进的邻域选择方法,充分利用先验姿态信息,使降维后的流形更加平滑,同类姿态互相靠近,不同类姿态之间的距离随着姿态差值变大而增大,且能够使训练及测试样本的低维流形更加靠近,降低了估计误差。在Facepix人脸数据库上的实验证明了该方法的有效性。  相似文献

Lawful intercept is a mandatory regulatory service that must be available when delivering voice services over packet-based networks. The carrier should be capable of providing the law-enforcement authorities with logged information about calls originated and terminated by a particular subscriber. Moreover, the carrier should also be able to intercept subscribers’ call-content (e.g., voice conversations). In both cases, the interception should be undetectable by the intercepted subscriber or other callers. Despite the importance of the topic, little effort has been made so far to analyze the performance aspects of lawful intercept in a packet-based network.This paper presents an overall analysis of the performance requirements of the border gateway function at the IMS architecture for lawful call-content interception on an end-to-end packet-based network with only voice packets. In particular, various performance characteristics of the VoIP transmission, like VoIP traffic and VoIP signaling traffic, with an emphasis on the SIP, were investigated in order to determine the margins of the border gateway function's performance requirements where an efficient and undetectable transfer of lawful call-content interception over packet-based networks can be expected.  相似文献

Desert mosses are components of biological soil crusts (BSCs) and their ecological functions make assessment and protection of these mosses a high-ranking management priority in desert regions. Drying is thought to be useful for desert mosses surviving heat shock. In this study, we investigated the role of drying by monitoring the responses of physiological characters and asexual reproduction in the typical desert moss Syntrichia caninervis. Heat significantly decreased chlorophyll content and weakened rapid recovery of photochemical activity, and increased carotenoid content and membrane permeability. Lethal temperatures significantly destroyed shoot regeneration potential. In comparison with heat alone, drying significantly increased protonema emergence time and depressed protonema emergence area. Drying combined with heat accelerated water loss, followed by a decrease of photosynthetic activity. Drying had different influences on membrane permeability at different temperatures. When moss leaves were subjected to a combined stress of drying and heat shock, photosynthesis was maintained mainly due to the effects of drying on physiological activity although the cellular morphological integrity was affected. Drying caused opposing effects on moss physiological and reproductive characteristics. On the one hand, drying caused a positive synergistic effect with heat shock when the temperature was below 40 °C. On the other hand, drying showed antagonism with heat shock when the moss was subjected to temperatures higher than 40 °C. These findings may help in understanding the survival mechanism of dessert mosses under heat shock stress which will be helpful for the artificial reconstruction of BSCs.  相似文献
