Presents the 2003 American Psychological Foundation's Gold Medal Award for Life Achievement in the Science of Psychology, which was presented to Robert Rosenthal. A biography of Rosenthal is provided, along with a selected bibliography and the text of the award citation: "For outstanding scientific contributions that have had a profound influence on research methods, empirical investigations, theory, and applications. Robert Rosenthal's seminal research on interpersonal expectancy inspired hundreds of studies with applications within and beyond psychology. The Early Career Awards, given for the first time in 1974, recognize the large number of excellent young psychologists. Recipients of this award may not have held a doctoral degree for more than nine years. For purposes of this award, psychology has been divided into 10 areas: animal learning and behavior, comparative; developmental; health; cognition/human learning; psychopathology; behavioral and cognitive neuroscience; perception/motor performance; social; applied research; and individual differences. Five areas are considered each year, with areas rotated in two-year cycles. The citation, biography, and selected bibliography of Robert M. This article examines the recirculation of Robert Del Tredici's photographs of the Cold War nuclear weapons complex. Originally published in his groundbreaking book, At Work in the Fields of the Bomb (1987), a number of Del Tredici's photographs have been republished in a series of post‐Cold War US Department of Energy reports. The article examines the post‐Cold War circulation of Del Tredici's images in these official government reports and analyzes shifts in their meaning across different historical periods. Ultimately, this paper raises questions about the critical stance of Del Tredici's photographs as they are republished in government reports and examines ways in which the meaning of his photographs responds to both Cold War and post‐Cold War contexts.  相似文献

Felicity D Scott , Associate Professor of Architecture at Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation (GSAPP), describes here the instant city events of the early 1970s. These foreshadowed current global village media practices in what now seems a quaintly material manner: communication between sites involved the physical mailing of videotapes and ‘wire photos’ through the postal service. The sites themselves – in the US and elsewhere – were transformed into ‘instant cities’ through the erection of physical geodesic domes, teepees and inflatables in seas of mud. 在1960年代中期的美国与日本,文丘里与筱原一男从各自的背景出发,分别设计了母亲住宅与白之家这两座对后世影响深远的经典建筑,挑战当时业界主流的“正统现代主义”体系。本文对比分析两个住宅在设计动机、形式表达与空间营造上的异同,指出两者的共同点是从日常生活出发,将本土传统创造性地引入现代主义的建筑知识体系。然而在具体设计手法上,母亲住宅选取了“强形式”与“分层空间”的策略,将复杂矛盾的要素结合,浑然一体;而白之家选取了“弱形式”与“分割空间”的手法,将各要素消解融合,体现出侘寂的氛围。两者都是通过创造性转化本土传统元素,使其以当时最“前卫”的方式呈现出了各自文化的生命力,成就了一个时代的经典。  相似文献
