Alternatives for improving energy security in Cape Verde

The lack of consensus on the meaning of energy security and how it should be measured hinders the evaluation of alternatives for improving the Cape Verdean energy sector. The objective of the paper is to develop an energy security index adjusted to the country's context. The methods used are the multi-criteria analysis and the Delphi survey. Different alternatives to improve energy security are assessed: electrically interconnect Cape Verde's islands, increase the share of renewable energy, and a combination of the previous alternatives. The results of our analysis indicate that increasing renewable energy is the optimal alternative for Cape Verde.     

Effects of apparent image velocity and complexity on the dynamic visual field using a high-speed train driving simulator

Train driving is a highly visual task. The visual capabilities of the train driver affects driving safety and driving performance. Understanding the effects of train speed and background image complexity on the visual behavior of the high-speed train driver is essential for optimizing performance and safety. This study investigated the role of the apparent image velocity and complexity on the dynamic visual field of drivers. Participants in a repeated-measures experiment drove a train at nine different speeds in a state-of-the-art high-speed train simulator. Eye movement analysis indicated that the effect of image velocity on the dynamic visual field of high-speed train driver was significant while image complexity had no effect on it. The fixation range was increasingly concentrated on the middle of the track as the speed increased, meanwhile there was a logarithmic decline in fixation range for areas surrounding the track. The extent of the visual search field decreased gradually, both vertically and horizontally, as the speed of train increased, and the rate of decrease was more rapid in the vertical direction. A model is proposed that predicts the extent of this tunnel vision phenomenon as a function of the train speed.Relevance to industryThis finding can be used as a basis for the design of high-speed railway system and as a foundation for improving the operational procedures of high-speed train driver for safety.

连续油管技术与装备发展综述

Windows2000环境下实时控制系统的软件实现

文章介绍了在windows2000环境下通过编写WDM（Windows Driver Model）设备驱动程序实现实时数据采集和控制的一种方法。采用研华数据采集卡PCL818L产生中断信号．通过编写WDM驱动程序实现了在windows2000环境下转台的位置控制。并在实验中调试通过。实验结果表明：在采样频率为1KHz的情况下。控制系统很好实现了输出对输入的跟踪，证明了采用方法的正确性。该方法解决了windows2000环境下的实时性问题，为在windows环境下实时控制系统的实现提供了有益的尝试。     

Theoretical analysis of heat transfer in laminar pulsating flow

Pulsation effect on heat transfer in laminar incompressible flow, which led to contradictory results in previous studies, is theoretically investigated in this work starting from basic principles in an attempt to eliminate existing confusion at various levels. First, the analytical solution of the fully developed thermal and hydraulic profiles under constant wall heat flux is obtained. It eliminates the confusion resulting from a previously published erroneous solution. The physical implications of the solution are discussed. Also, a new time average heat transfer coefficient for pulsating flow is carefully defined such as to produce results that are both useful from the engineering point of view, and compliant with the energy balance. This rationally derived average is compared with intuitive averages used in the literature. New results are numerically obtained for the thermally developing region with a fully developed velocity profile. Different types of thermal boundary conditions are considered, including the effect of wall thermal inertia. The effects of Reynold and Prandtl numbers, as well as pulsation amplitude and frequency on heat transfer are investigated. The mechanism by which pulsation affects the developing region, by creating damped oscillations along the tube length of the time average Nusselt number, is explained.

本文中所设计的电荷泵将用于手机液晶显示驱动模块中.通过对Fibonacci型电荷泵上升时间的估算,对减小上升时间和动态功耗进行折中考虑,本文提出优化开关频率的方法.用1.2μm CMOS双阱工艺参数对所设计的电荷泵进行模拟,结果表明这个电荷泵具有较快的上升速度和较高的效率.通过提高V_GS电平和保证开关管的衬底始终接在最高电位上,文中提出了一种新型Fibonacci电荷泵,它可以正常工作在从1.2V到5V变化的多种电源电压下.
