This paper discusses a new application of data mining, quantifying the importance of responding to trigger events with reactive
contacts. Trigger events happen during a customer’s lifecycle and indicate some change in the relationship with the company.
If detected early, the company can respond to the problem and retain the customer; otherwise the customer may switch to another
company. It is usually easy to identify many potential trigger events. What is needed is a way of prioritizing which events
demand interventions. We conceptualize the trigger event problem and show how survival analysis can be used to quantify the
importance of addressing various trigger events. The method is illustrated on four real data sets from different industries

In this paper, we introduce a single-machine scheduling problem with an exponentially time-dependent learning effect. The processing time of a job is assumed to be an exponential function of the total normal processing time of jobs already processed before it. For such a scheduling problem, we first provide the upper bound for the maximum lateness and for the total weighted completion time. Next, we show that problems with the following criteria: makespan, the total completion time, the total weighted completion time, the total earliness/tardiness penalties and the maximum lateness under some agreeable conditions, are polynomially solvable. 相似文献

This paper introduces a tabu search heuristic for a production scheduling problem with sequence-dependent and time-dependent
setup times on a single machine. The problem consists in scheduling a set of dependent jobs, where the transition between
two jobs comprises an unrestricted setup that can be performed at any time, and a restricted setup that must be performed
outside of a given time interval which repeats daily in the same position. The setup time between two jobs is thus a function
of the completion time of the first job. The tabu search heuristic relies on shift and swap moves, and a surrogate objective
function is used to speed-up the neighborhood evaluation. Computational experiments show that the proposed heuristic consistently
finds better solutions in less computation time than a recent branch-and-cut algorithm. Furthermore, on instances where the
branch-and-cut algorithm cannot find the optimal solution, the heuristic always identifies a better solution. 相似文献

Force-distance curve measurements using atomic force microscope (AFM) has been widely used in a broad range of areas. However, currently force-curve measurements are hampered the its low speed of AFM. In this article, a novel inversion-based iterative control technique is proposed to dramatically increase the speed of force-curve measurements. Experimental results are presented to show that by using the proposed control technique, the speed of force-curve measurements can be increased by over 80 times--with no loss of spatial resolution--on a commercial AFM platform and with a standard cantilever. High-speed force curve measurements using this control technique are utilized to quantitatively study the time-dependent elastic modulus of poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS). The force-curves employ a broad spectrum of push-in (load) rates, spanning two-order differences. The elastic modulus measured at low-speed compares well with the value obtained from dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) test, and the value of the elastic modulus increases as the push-in rate increases, signifying that a faster external deformation rate transitions the viscoelastic response of PDMS from that of a rubbery material toward a glassy one. 相似文献

The reliability of structures subjected to multiple time-varying random loads is considered herein. It is well-known that the reliability of such systems may be evaluated by considering outcrossings of the load process vector out of a safe domain, and the contribution of individual loads to structural failure may be evaluated by considering outcrossings caused by combinations of one or more loads. In this paper the ‘Directional Simulation in the Load Space’ approach to reliability analysis is developed to consider explicitly outcrossings caused by all possible combinations of loads, during analysis of systems comprising stationary continuous Gaussian loads. To do this, the direction of the load process vector is ‘fixed’ at each point of outcrossing (to physically represent the particular combination of loads causing the outcrossing), and, by considering each possible load combination, all loads not causing an outcrossing are then held constant during radial integration (to model correctly that they do not contribute to each outcrossing). A direct computer simulation of reaction dynamics at the electronic excited states is not easy to perform, because nonadiabatic equations must be solved as a function of time. Here we present a simple simulation to integrate directly the time-dependent Schrödinger equation within the framework of the time-dependent density functional theory (for electrons) coupled with the Newtonian equation of motion (for nuclei). We find that a chemical reaction, 2LiH→Li2+H2, takes place by the doubly excitation. Along the reaction, a level crossing occurs automatically between the highest occupied and lowest unoccupied levels. The simulation demonstrates a mechanism for relaxation for the reactions driven by doubly excitation: electronic excited state changes smoothly into the electronic ground state leaving a kinetic energy of the atoms. 相似文献
