The current methods of connecting the flanges of precast double tee members, and their respective short comings in specific situations, are described. A new carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) flange-to-flange connection is proposed to eliminate the problems associated with repair requirements for the current connections. Design expressions for the currently used mechanical anchorage and the proposed CFRP connection are presented. A comparative calculation for the two systems is given.  相似文献

This paper focuses on the procedure utilized in the construction of tilt-up irregular concrete panels that are constructed on-site using concrete slabs and wooden formwork. The case study required high-quality concrete finishing. The erection and installation procedure called for a maximum panel-to-panel joint tolerance of 1.27?cm (0.5?in.), often 90° joints between panels. To meet precision requirements, the casting slabs were leveled and flattened with laser screed technology and smoothed with chemical solutions. To ensure that the final result met expectations, a mock-up model was built using different types of materials and to simulate site constraints. The architectural design is a composition of precast concrete panels like “Lego” pieces assembled similarly to a jigsaw puzzle. The unique construction process required a state-of-the-art analysis to produce the set quality. Quality conditions as set by the owner included creating a smooth concrete surface on all panels while avoiding damages and reducing equipment and material costs. The proposed methodology is described through its implementation on the case study, which is also described in this paper.  相似文献

Transportation departments have been using aluminum overhead sign structures since the 1950s. It is well documented that cracks develop in the welds between diagonal and chord members due to fatigue stresses from wind-induced vibration of the slender members. The cracks propagate to complete failure of the members, which can cause collapse of the truss and inflict injuries. The original design of overhead sign structures did not consider fatigue as a limit state. In addition, field welding of aluminum structures for any possible repairs is prohibited. A repair method for the cracked aluminum welded connections between diagonals and chord members using glass fiber reinforced polymer composites (GFRPs) is proposed. The static load carrying capacity of the welded connection, and the cracked connection repaired with GFRP composites are established. The paper describes the surface preparation of the aluminum tubular members, and the architecture and application sequence of the GFRP composite to retrofit the connection. Experimental results are presented from static tests of welded aluminum connections, welded aluminum connections retrofitted with GFRP composites, and new aluminum connections that depend only on GFRP composite elements for their strength. The results from monotonic static tests carried out on cracked welded specimens from actual sign structures show that the retrofitted connection with GFRP reinforcement achieved 1.17 to 1.25 times the capacity of the welded aluminum connection without any visible cracks. This result, and the minimal traffic disruption anticipated in the actual field application, makes this retrofit method a good candidate for implementation.  相似文献

Precast bridges are often constructed as single span for dead load, but continuous for live load. A diaphragm connection is provided for negative moment continuity. However, the connection may also be subjected to positive moments due to time-dependent effects. Because these moments may be large enough to damage the diaphragm or even the girders, a positive moment connection is often provided. This paper reports on a study to determine the types of positive moment connections used across the country and to identify potential problems with these types of connections. A questionnaire survey was conducted to assess the state of practice for precast prestressed concrete bridges made continuous. The survey provides valuable information on this type of bridge and updates a previous survey on this subject.  相似文献

Partial Partitions,Partial Connections and Connective Segmentation   总被引:1,自引:1,他引:0  
In connective segmentation (Serra in J. Math. Imaging Vis. 24(1):83–130, [2006]), each image determines subsets of the space on which it is “homogeneous”, in such a way that this family of subsets always constitutes a connection (connectivity class); then the segmentation of the image is the partition of space into its connected components according to that connection. Several concrete examples of connective segmentations or of connections on sets, indicate that the space covering requirement of the partition should be relaxed. Furthermore, morphological operations on partitions require the consideration of wider framework. We study thus partial partitions (families of mutually disjoint non-void subsets of the space) and partial connections (where connected components of a set are mutually disjoint but do not necessarily cover the set). We describe some methods for generating partial connections. We investigate the links between the two lattices of partial connections and of partial partitions. We generalize Serra’s characterization of connective segmentation and discuss its relevance. Finally we give some ideas on how the theory of partial connections could lead to improved segmentation algorithms.

Fatigue cracking occurs at the copes of stringer–floorbeam connections of older, riveted steel bridges. Some cracks are quite long and raise serious questions regarding the remaining fatigue life of the subject bridges. Damage limitation methods (DLMs) have been used to increase the fatigue life of these stringers, but the effectiveness of the DLMs for these riveted connections had never been evaluated by tests. Therefore, tests were conducted to evaluate the fatigue life of coped, riveted stringer–floorbeam connections, and the effectiveness of DLMs. Fatigue cracks in the coped stringer–floorbeam connection were initially developed to establish crack initiation requirements and the rate and extent of crack growth. Once a significant crack was noted, one of several DLMs was applied, and the specimens were retested to determine the effectiveness of the DLM in controlling cracking. These DLMs included the drilled hole, the inserted bolt and the removed rivet methods. The relative effectiveness of the methods is described, and a design procedure is proposed for improving their performance.  相似文献

The second-order stiffness matrix and corresponding loading vector of a prismatic beam–column subjected to a constant axial load and supported on a uniformly distributed elastic foundation (Winkler type) along its span with its ends connected to elastic supports are derived in a classical manner. The stiffness coefficients are expressed in terms of the ballast coefficient of the elastic foundation, applied axial load, support conditions, bending, and shear deformations. These individual parameters may be dropped when the appropriate effect is not considered; therefore, the proposed model captures all the different models of beams and beam–columns including those based on the theories of Bernoulli–Euler, Timoshenko, Rayleigh, and bending and shear.The expressions developed for the load vector are also general for any type or combinations of transverse loads including concentrated and partially nonuniform distributed loads. In addition, the transfer equations necessary to determine the transverse deflections, rotations, shear, and bending moments along the member are also developed and presented.  相似文献

The large-deflection elastic analysis of slender beam-columns of symmetrical cross sections with semirigid connections under end loads (forces and moments) including the effects of out-of-plumbness is developed in a classical manner. The classical theory of the “Elastica” and the corresponding elliptical functions are utilized in the proposed method which can be used in the large-deflection stability analysis of slender beam-columns with rigid, semirigid, and simple connections under any combination of end loads (conservative and nonconservative). The proposed method consisting of a closed-form solution of the Elastica can also be utilized in the large deflection analysis of beam-columns whose connections suffer from flexural degradation or, on the contrary, flexural stiffening. The main limitation of the Elastica is that only flexural strains are considered (the effects of axial and shear strains are neglected). Therefore results from the proposed method are theoretically exact from small to very large curvatures and transverse and longitudinal displacements for plane beam-columns under bending actions. The large-deflection analysis of a beam-column with flexible connections at both ends becomes a complex problem requiring the simultaneous solution of at least two highly nonlinear equations with elliptical integrals. The solution of this problem becomes even more complex when the end connections are nonlinear or the direction of the applied end load changes (like “follower” loads). The validity and effectiveness of the proposed method and equations are verified against available solutions of very large deflection elastic analysis of beam-columns. Four comprehensive examples are included for verification and easy reference.  相似文献

介绍一种立体的有限元模型,可用来评估受重力和火灾荷载的组合梁-板组件的响应。使用有限元分析软件模拟典型梁-板组件在不同剪切条件(栓焊混合连接和全部螺栓连接的双角钢节点)和不同火灾场景下的性能。有限元模型中包含随温度变化的组成材料的热力学性能、连接件和混合作用。使用瞬态时域热应力耦合分析来获得组合梁-板组件的温度分布和变形响应。通过对所预测的和所测量的火灾情况下3个组合梁-板组件热学参数和结构响应参数进行对比,验证了这个有限元模型。通过对比显示,所提出的有限元模型可以很准确地预测梁-板组件的火灾响应。分析研究可知,梁和板的混合作用很大程度上提升了组合梁-板组件的耐火性能。因此,可以推论出所提出的有限元模型可用来评估组合楼板结构火灾响应。  相似文献
