Effective website design for experience-influenced environments: The case of high culture museums

While most research on website has focused on functional tasks, the Internet offers many opportunities for leisure as well as experiential activities. Because of the evolution of developed society toward an experience economy, analyzing the role of technologies in the presence of prior user experiences makes sense. This research identifies variables that play a role and influence online behaviors in a specific experiential environment, namely the high culture museum website. Relying on the literature on experience, we propose a research model tested with two different websites. The results of the free simulation experiment indicates that (1) esthetics is the most important design criteria for experiential interfaces and (2) that website design influences intentions to visit a physical place.

飞机内环境的虚拟设计

在飞机美学基本理论的指导下,分析了应用虚拟现实技术进行专用客机内舱虚拟设计的方法与技术路线.论述了飞机内舱的整体概念、产品和布局装配等方面的虚拟设计,建立了详细的设计流程,提出了基于图像和基于模型的两种虚拟设计基本方法.应用Cult3D技术建立了飞机内舱虚拟设计的原型系统,实现了内舱整体布局的概念设计,并在国产运7-200A型号的飞机内舱设计中进行了实践验证.     

Simplicity, Scale, and Surprise: Evaluating Structural Form

Aesthetic and ethical issues of building design are presented here to encourage meaningful discussion among today’s architectural engineering students and practitioners. The evaluative aesthetic ideas of scale, simplicity, and surprise are applied to two important structures designed by Fazlur R. Khan. Khan’s profound understanding of load flow in his buildings influenced his aesthetic ideas. Furthermore, his aesthetic ideas were intimately intertwined with his ethical ideas about structural logic and the role of structure in architecture. We explore these ideas and present new insights as well. Our goal is to encourage a public discourse within our profession on the topic of evaluating structural form.

Aesthetics, Death, and Landmark Structures: Approach for Values Clarification

The Golden Gate Bridge is an iconic landmark, which has long held the distinction of being the most popular structure in the world to commit suicide. A general process is presented for policy makers’ use to generate conversation and clarify their values in making decisions about public works improvements. This applies particularly well where issues of aesthetics and cost are emotionally and politically charged. The Golden Gate Bridge serves as a case study of how this process can be used. Three design solutions were generated on the basis of architectural concerns and developed in the context of evaluation criteria. A value-based decision analysis approach was taken to determine the preference structure of decision makers involved and to provide a rational framework for further development. Results indicate that existing preferences among decision makers may not be consistent with their public decisions and could be clarified given a more rigorous framework. The do-nothing option is likely to be less preferred to other options given a thorough definition of the acceptance criteria.

一直以来，建筑都被看作为艺术。然而，建筑和艺术的本质和特征是什么呢？该文通过对艺术与建筑的本质及特征的分析探讨，并比较其不同差异，论述了建筑有艺术的特征但不是艺术，把建筑视为艺术是不够严谨的。同时文章也对建筑的审美特征作了简要探讨。     

Aesthetic Appraisal of Antenna Towers

The very rapid increases in telecommunication and advancements in the field of communications technology have resulted in many different structures to support antennae. Exponential growth in cellular telephone networks has given rise to numerous new masts and towers spread all over the landscape, especially in large cities. Although everybody wants a mobile phone, nobody wants an antenna tower in their neighborhood. Recently, local authorities, nature conservancy organizations, etc., in Europe have set forward requirements to reduce the impact of new antenna masts and towers on the landscape. As a result, telecommunication companies are paying more attention and concern toward the aesthetic layout and design of new antenna supporting structures. In the future, we may have antenna supporting structures that do not look like masts and towers that are used today. This paper gives a brief history of antenna towers, an introduction to the problem, and a discussion on a new approach to design based on aesthetics. Examples and illustrations are presented showing new designs and innovative ideas.     

工业建筑：现代建筑的先锋

目前国内兴起工业建筑遗产保护的热潮,从历史保护的角度开展了一些研究,着重是对其记录下来的工业文明的历史保护,但对工业建筑对现代建筑所做出的贡献和影响都认识不够深入。该文通过历史追踪的方法,考察了工业建筑在工程技术上的贡献,并阐述了其在美学观念上所带来的革命性转变,试图解读工业建筑的先锋性意义,从而提炼出其对当前工业建筑设计的借鉴意义。
