Annular superconducting tunnel junction with injected current as a new configuration of radiation detector

We have experimentally demonstrated the capability of an annular superconducting tunnel junction with trapped flux quanta to detect X-ray without external magnetic field which is required in the conventional detection scheme. With this device, we have collected the pulse height spectrum with acceptable resolution.     

Numerical Simulations of the Fluxon Dynamics of a Two-Dimensional Josephson Junction System

A direct perturbation method applied to a long Josephson junction molded by one-dimensional sine-Gordon equation is presented and the modulation of perturbations on fluxon velocity and stable state is studied. Simulations of a two-dimensional Josephson junction with dc bias current in an external magnetic field provide an I–V characteristic curve for the system and determine the various dynamic behaviors, including the periodic, quasiperiodic, and chaotic motions. Physical explanations for the behaviors are presented. The numerical results are in good agreement with the energetic analysis.

Nb超导量子结中AlO_x－Al厚度对其特性的影响

通过阳极氧化电压谱图（ＡＶＳ）；Ｉ－Ｖ特性和Ｆｉｓｋｅ台阶电压测量，我们研究了Ｎｂ超导量子结构中ＡｌＯｘ－Ａｌ厚度对其特性的影响。发现ＡＶＳ中ＡｌＯｘ－Ａｌ与Ｎｂ电极之间的界面陡度和Ｉ－Ｖ特性取决于ＡｌＯｘ－Ａｌ厚度，Ｎｂ｜Ａ｜Ｏｘ－Ａｌ｜Ｎｂ结的最小最佳沉积Ａｌ层厚度为７ｎｍ。由Ｆｉｓｋｅ台阶电压，ＡＶＳ中的Ａｌ峰和Ｉ－Ｖ特性的畸变，证实了结中Ａｌ／Ｎｂ间由常态Ａｌ而引起的亲近效应的存在，并用ＭｃＭｉｌｌａｎ理论作了讨论。

The Board for the Advancement of Psychology in the Public Interest presents two awards annually to persons who have advanced psychology as a science and/or profession by a single extraordinary achievement or a lifetime of outstanding contributions in the public interest. The 1991 winners are Susan T. Fiske and Evelyn Hooker. For each recipient a citation, biography, and selected bibliography of their works are presented.
