This paper considers the vertical vibrations of an elastic circular plate in a multilayered poroelastic half space. The plate is subjected to axisymmetric time–harmonic vertical loading and its response is governed by the classical thin-plate theory. The contact surface between the plate and the multilayered half space is assumed to be smooth and either fully permeable or impermeable. The half space under consideration consists of a number of layers with different thicknesses and material properties and is governed by Biot’s poroelastodynamic theory. The vertical displacement of the plate is represented by an admissible function containing a set of generalized coordinates. Contact stress and pore pressure jump are established in terms of generalized coordinates through the solution of flexibility equations based on the influence functions corresponding to vertical and pore pressure loading. Solutions for generalized coordinates are obtained by establishing the equation of motion of the plate through the application of Lagrange’s equations of motion. Selected numerical results are presented to portray the influence of various parameters on dynamic interaction between an elastic plate and a multilayered poroelastic half space.  相似文献

In this paper, the vertical vibration of a flexible plate with rigid core resting on a semi-infinite saturated soil is studied analytically. The behavior of the soil is assumed to follow Biot’s poroelastodynamic theory with compressible soil skeleton and pore water, and the response of the time-harmonic excited plate is governed by the classical thin-plate theory. By virtue of the Hankel transform technique, the fundamental solutions of the skeleton displacements, stresses, and pore pressure are derived, and a set of dual integral equations associated with the relaxed boundary and completely drained condition at the soil-foundation contact interface are also developed. These governing integral equations are further reduced to the standard Fredholm integral equations of the second kind and solved by numerical procedures. Comparison with existing solutions for a rigid permeable plate on saturated soil confirms the accuracy of the present solution. Selected numerical results are presented to show the influence of the permeability, the size of the rigid core, and the plate flexibility on the dynamic interaction between the elastic plate with rigid core and the underlying saturated soil.  相似文献

Concrete filled grid bridge decks exhibit orthogonal elastic properties and significant two-way bending action enabling orthotropic plate theory to determine structural response for these elements. Current American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials load and resistance factor design (LRFD) specifications employ an orthotropic plate model to predict live load moment in concrete filled grid bridge decks but provide no guidance for computing displacement, a potentially important serviceability consideration. This paper presents equations to approximate the maximum deflection in concrete filled grid bridge decks based on orthotropic plate theory, multiple patch loads, LRFD design truck and tandem load cases, the influence of multiple spans, and the two most common deck orientations.  相似文献

A study on time schemes for DRBEM analysis of elastic impact wave   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
 The precise integration and differential quadrature methods are two new unconditionally stable numerical schemes to approximate time derivative with more than the second order accuracy. Recent studies showed that compared with the Houbolt and Newmark methods, they produced more accurate solutions with large time step for the problems where response is primarily dominated by low and intermediate frequency modes. This paper aims to investigate these time schemes in the context of the dual reciprocity BEM (DRBEM) formulation of various shock-excited scalar elastic wave problems, where high modes have important affect on traction response. The Houbolt method was widely recommended in many literatures for such DRBEM dynamic formulations. However, this study found that the damped Newmark algorithm was the most efficient and accurate for impact traction analysis in conjunction with the DRBEM. The precise integration and differential quadrature methods are shown inapplicable for such shock-excited problems due to the absence of numerical damping. On the other hand, we also found that to achieve the same order of accuracy, the differential quadrature method required much less computing effort than the precise integration method due to the use of the Bartels–Stewart algorithm solving the resulting Lyapunov matrix analogization equation. This paper has two main objectives. The first is to examine the influence of membrane stresses on postbuckled deformations of nonlinear elastic isotropic rectangular plates. The second is to further examine the accuracy of a new 3-D Cosserat eight noded brick element (Nadler and Rubin in Int J Solids Struct 40: 4585–4614, 2003) which was developed within the context of the theory of a Cosserat point. The equations of the Cosserat element include both material and geometric nonlinearities. A number of example problems are considered which examine predictions of the Cosserat element for beams and plates and comparison has been made with results from the commercial codes ANSYS and ADINA. Also, the approximate nonlinear postbuckling solution described in Timoshenko and Gere (Theory of elastic stability, Mc Graw-Hill, New York) is shown to be more limited than originally expected. These results suggest that the Cosserat element is robust, can perform well under extreme conditions and is capable of modeling combinations of three-dimensional bodies with attached thin structures.  相似文献

In 1997 and 1999, inspection works were carried out in the 384 cable stays of the six central piers of General Rafael Urdaneta Bridge, located in Maracaibo, Venezuela. Inspection indicated the presence of water and significant settlings in the sockets of the cables and corrosion along each cable and socket. The tension of the cables was also measured, and differences of up to 30% in the tension of the cables of some of the 24 groups corresponding to the six central piers (four groups of 16 for each pier) were found. The results suggested the need to retension the cables. This paper shows the outcome of the inspection and indicates the procedure and results of the process of retension, finished in July 2000.  相似文献

A set of analytical solutions for waves propagating past a combined submerged horizontal plate and vertical porous wall breakwater system is presented. The wave damping effect caused by the horizontal plate induced flow constriction is considered in the analysis. The velocity potentials in each fluid domain are derived based on the linear wave theory and the unknown coefficients are determined from the matching conditions using three sets of orthogonal eigenfunctions. Reflection and transmission coefficients are presented to evaluate the performance of the breakwater system. The analytical solutions in terms of the reflection and transmission coefficients as well as the hydrodynamic force on the vertical porous wall are found in good agreement with published laboratory measurements. In comparison with the solutions without taking into account the wave damping effect, the present analytical solutions significantly improve the accuracy of the wave predictions, especially for the reflected waves.  相似文献

The objective of this research is to study the temperature variation in thin dielectric materials. The thermal wave model is being used as the classical Fourier law of heat conduction breaks down when a dielectric material of sub-micron geometry is heated rapidly. The first part of the work reviews the temperature distribution due to thermal wave in semi-infinite bodies. The main emphasis of this paper is to accurately determine the temperature profile in a finite plate made up from a dielectric material. The boundary conditions of the first and the second kind are selected for this study. Using the classical Laplace transform technique, analytical solutions are obtained for finite bodies with different boundary conditions the first kind and the second kind. Due to complexity of the problem, a symbolic algebra provided the solution for examining the thermal behavior of dielectric materials during rapid heating.  相似文献

Stowell's solution [1] for the buckling behaviour of flange elements in compression was premised on the assumption that the element was fixed against flexural rotations at the ends, a condition representing relatively thick elements for which the thickness dimension is adequate to prevent rotations. This paper presents a solution similar to Stowell's which is applicable to pin-ended flange elements. Aspects not considered in Stowell's work, such as the use of elliptic functions to describe the gradual change of mode shape from sinusoidal to essentially linear, and the gradual and asymptotic changes in axial rigidity in the post-buckling range are described in the paper. The paper also presents comparisons between the behaviour of pin-ended and fixed-ended flange elements. Finally, simple strength equations for flange elements in uniform compression based on the first yield criterion are derived.  相似文献
