The perceived locations of paired auditory images, simulating direct sounds and their echoes, have been recently studied in budgerigars (Melopsittacus undulatus; M. L. Dent & R. J. Dooling, 2003a, 2003b). In this article, the authors extend those experiments to include measurements of the precedence effect using a discrimination paradigm in two additional bird species: canaries (Serinus canaria) and zebra finches (Taeniopygia guttata). Although time courses of summing localization, localization dominance, and echo thresholds were similar across all species, budgerigars had slightly higher overall levels of discrimination. The results from these experiments add further support that the precedence effect in birds is similar to that found in other animals and that the ability to suppress echoes that might degrade localization and auditory object perception may be a general property of the vertebrate auditory system. The modality effect in immediate recall refers to superior recall of the last few items within lists presented in spoken as opposed to printed form. The locus of this well-known effect has been unclear. N. Cowan, J. S. Saults, E. M. Elliott, and M. Moreno (2002) introduced a new method to distinguish between the effects of input serial position, output serial position, and the number of items yet to be recalled and found that large modality effects occurred only in conditions in which delay and interference at output (from items already recalled) was high. The authors replicated that finding, even when the response period included output interference acoustically similar to the spoken stimuli to be recalled. However, the authors found that output delay and interference act only by lowering the level of performance to a more sensitive range. Phoneme identification with audiovisually discrepant stimuli is influenced hy information in the visual signal (the McGurk effect). Additionally, lexical status affects identification of auditorily presented phonemes. The present study tested for lexical influences on the McGurk effect. Participants identified phonemes in audiovisually discrepant stimuli in which lexical status of the auditory component and of a visually influenced percept was independently varied. Visually influenced (McGurk) responses were more frequent when they formed a word and when the auditory signal was a nonword (Experiment 1). Lexical effects were larger for slow than for fast responses (Experiment 2), as with auditory speech, and were replicated with stimuli matched on physical properties (Experiment 3). In stereoscopic images, the crossing point of the viewing directions of the two eyes determines the perceived depth. Assuming that accommodation is affected by the positions of the crossing point, the effect of crossing point on minimum angle of resolution (MAR) was investigated. For 40 participants, MAR was measured by two‐alternative forced choice where Snellen optotype E of up and down directions were used as two kinds of stimuli. As the crossing point of the viewing direction of the left and right eyes moves farther from the sample display, the ability to identify the direction of letter E decreases at the optotype of the same line thickness. The change of MAR shows linear trends with respect to the optical power change that are the reciprocal of the distance from the participant to the crossing points located out of screen and on screen.  相似文献

提出一种基于谱减法和听觉掩蔽效应的改进的卡尔曼滤波语音增强算法.引入基于谱减法的AR参数估计使卡尔曼算法降低了复杂度和计算量从而易于实现.用卡尔曼滤波滤除噪声的同时结合人耳听觉掩蔽特性设计一个后置感知滤波器,使得从卡尔曼滤波获得的估计误差低于人耳掩蔽阈值,在去噪和语音失真之间取较好的折中.仿真结果表明所提方法优于传统的卡尔曼滤波增强法,能够有效地减少语音失真,并且更符合人耳听觉特性,特别是在低信噪比的情况下,语音具有更好的清晰度和可懂度.  相似文献

针对麦克风阵列后滤波语音增强算法的不足, 结合人耳的听觉掩蔽效应, 提出了改进的后滤波语音增强算法. 提出了最大化目标语音存在概率来确定信号子空间维度的方法, 在噪声子空间上, 利用条件概率估计出噪声功率谱. 基于人耳的听觉掩蔽效应, 提出了后滤波器的一种合理的设计方法. 实验证明, 所提的噪声估计方法比传统方法更加准确, 所提的后滤波算法比传统的后滤波算法更好, 在多项语音评价指标上, 都取得了更好的实验效果.  相似文献
