Applicant reactions to face-to-face and technology-mediated interviews: A field investigation.

This field study examined applicant reactions (N = 802) toward face-to-face as compared with technology-mediated interviews (through videoconferencing or by telephone) for 346 organizations. Face-to-face interviews were perceived as more fair and led to higher job acceptance intentions than were videoconferencing and telephone interviews. Perceived interview outcomes were higher with face-to-face and telephone interviews over videoconferencing. Self-monitoring moderated the relationship between interview medium and perceptions of fairness. Specifically, this relationship was (a) positive for face-to-face, (b) negative for telephone, and (c) nonsignificant for videoconferencing interviews. Moreover, the number of offers an applicant received moderated the relationship between interview medium over, and perceived fairness. The relationship between number of offers and perceived fairness was positive for face-to-face and negative for technology-mediated interviews. Simple method of characterizing the spatial luminance distribution at the user position for autostereoscopic 3‐D display

Abstract— The image quality of autostereoscopic 3‐D displays strongly depends on the user position. So, characterization of the spatial luminance distribution at the user position is important. For the measurement of the spatial luminance distribution, a method that places a diffuser screen at the user position and is illuminated by a 3‐D display has been investigated. By placing the diffuser screen and 3‐D display non‐parallel, the luminance distribution at the various distances can be determined. Though the accuracy of this measurement method is somewhat limited, the measuring procedure is fast and simple, compared with other time‐consuming methods.

Temporal evolution of contacts and communities in networks of face-to-face human interactions

Temporal dynamics of social interaction networks as well as the analysis of communities are key aspects to gain a better understanding of the involved processes, important influence factors, their effects, and their structural implications. In this article, we analyze temporal dynamics of contacts and the evolution of communities in networks of face-to-face proximity. As our application context, we consider four scientific coil- ferences. On a structural level, we focus on static and dynamic properties of the contact graphs. Also, we analyze the resulting community structure using state-of-the-art automatic community detection algorithms. Specifically, we analyze tile evolution of contacts and communities over time to consider the stability of the respective conmmnities. Furthermore, we assess different factors which have an influence on the quality of com- munity prediction. Overall, we provide first important insights into the evolution of contacts and communities in face-to-face contact networks.     

动态信道切换及静默策略下的LTE-U共存方案

提出了一种针对非授权频段的长期演进(LTE-U)系统在5 GHz非授权频段与WIFI系统共存的方案.该方案基于先听后说(LBT)信道接入机制,通过引入动态信道切换技术,有效避免了因LTE-U系统长时间占用同一信道而对无线保真(WIFI)系统造成的干扰.在此基础上,对LBT机制中的静默时长进行了优化,以进一步提升LTE-U与WIFI系统共存的效率.理论分析和实验结果表明,所提方案可使LTE-U与WIFI在同频段和谐共存,并取得较好的系统性能.

Cross‐talk acceptability in natural still images for different (auto)stereoscopic display technologies

Abstract— One of the most annoying distortions in (auto)stereoscopic displays is probably cross‐talk, visible as double edges, which is mainly caused by an imperfect separation of left‐ and right‐eye images. For different types of three‐dimensional (3‐D) displays, cross‐talk is caused by different origins, which could result in different levels of perceived image distortion. To evaluate the influence of (auto)stereoscopic display technology on cross‐talk perception, optical measurements and subjective assessments were performed with three different types of 3‐D displays. It is shown with natural still images that the 3‐D display technology with the lowest luminance and contrast level tolerates the highest level of cross‐talk, while still maintaining an acceptable image‐quality level.     

A resonating rheometer using two polymer membranes for measuring liquid viscosity and mass density

A resonating sensor for mechanical liquid properties facilitating measurements at two different modes of operation is presented. One mode is more sensitive to liquid viscosity the other to mass density. A sample liquid is subjected to time-harmonic shear stress induced by two opposed vibrating polymer membranes. These membranes, placed in an external static magnetic field, carry two conductive paths each. The first path is used to actuate the membranes by means of Lorentz forces while the second acts as a pick-up coil providing an induced voltage representing the movement of the membrane. From the resulting frequency response the liquid's viscosity and mass density can be deduced. This double membrane based setup allows examining the test liquid at adjustable frequencies in the low kilohertz range from 500 Hz to 20 kHz by varying the gap between both membranes. The sensor is suitable, e.g., for low cost handheld devices with inline capabilities and disposable sensor elements for measuring Newtonian liquids such as, e.g., oils and aqueous solutions.     

谈话节目语料库的构建与会话结构分析

口语语料库的建设是口语研究的基础工作,该文选择具有代表性的交谈式谈话节目《锵锵三人行》和对谈式谈话节目《鲁豫有约》作为语料,建立了一个小型的谈话节目语料库,并构建了包含五大类16小类的会话结构标注体系,对语料进行了会话结构的标注。统计得到打断结构309例,插入结构141例,重复结构111例,问答结构653/589例,阻碍—修正结构51/21例,反映了会话结构在数量上的不均衡分布,节目的形式、性质以及交际任务是会话结构分布的主要影响因素。会话结构组合具有模式性,该文使用Trigram方法对其组合情况进行了分析,发现语料中的高频组合是问答毗邻对,此外有大量的非毗邻性组合。会话结构组合模式不但反映出谈话节目的风格特点,还有助于分析会话中的功能性模块、会话策略的形成,进而更加深入地了解会话的运作机制。
