The influence of minor amounts of pro‐ and anti‐oxidants on the kinetics of the autoxidation of fat has been evaluated. The reaction rates of oxygen with the substrates were found to follow the same basic equation, hitherto established for pure substrates. There is evidence that the surface of the reaction vessel also acts as a reaction catalyst and its effect is proportional to the area of glass in contact with lipids. Oxidation is enhanced by trace metal ions as well as by surface‐active compounds (e.g. hydroperoxides and sterols). Antioxidants such as α‐tocopherol and butylated hydroxyanisole inhibit the oxidation by delaying the start of oxygen consumption (the induction period) while retarders like amino acids only decrease the rate of oxidation. Thus pro‐ and anti‐ oxidants affect either the start or the rate of oxygen consumption. The effects of antioxidants or hot packaging and their combination on lipid oxidation were quite variable depending on the additives in turkey meat. The TBARS values of cooked patties were greatly affected by the degree of oxidation in the raw meat, and the effectiveness of antioxidants varied with added prooxidants. Ascorbate and free radical terminators had stronger antioxidant effects than iron chelators, and chelating iron alone could not eliminate lipid oxidation in either raw or cooked meat with added NaCl. The combination of hot packaging and antioxidants provided cooked patties with better protection from lipid oxidation than either treatment alone. 相似文献

The Pennsylvania State University is researching an advanced oxidation system, which includes an air-phase photolytic chamber, an air/water stripping tower, and granular activated carbon (GAC) beds, for controlling volatile organic compounds (VOCs).A laboratory-scale experimental procedure has been employed that simulated certain aspects of several full-scale installations. The apparatus has been used to characterize the loading capacity and mass transfer zone of selected VOCs on coconut shell GAC. The GAC bed has then been placed in series with an ultraviolet reactor, which generates ozone and advanced oxidants in order to regenerate the loaded GAC at intensities of advanced oxidants that were higher than full-scale installations.VOC loading tests revealed that the adsorption of methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK) was characterized by a well-defined mass transfer zone. Upon exposure to UV/O3, desorption and/or destruction of the MIBK and other VOCs occurred most prominently within the first inch of the GAC bed. This correlated with the penetration of advanced oxidants into the GAC bed, which also occurred most significantly in the bed's first inch. However, the amount of oxidant penetration increased with time. The removal of oxidants from air by GAC was accompanied by a decrease in mass of the GAC. The ability of oxidants to penetrate a GAC bed was altered when the bed was loaded with a VOC. 相似文献

The effect of Mo loading, calcination temperature, reaction temperature and space velocity on the catalytic performance of methane dehydrogenation and aromatization without using oxidants over Mo/HZSM-5 has been studied. The XRD and BET measurements show that Mo species are highly dispersed in the channels of the HZSM-5 zeolite, resulting from the interaction between the Mo species and the zeolite, which also leads to a decrease in its crystallinity. The Brønsted acidity, the channel structure and the state and location of Mo species in the zeolite seem to be crucial factors for its catalytic performance. It was found that 2% Mo/HZSM-5 calcined at 773 K showed the best aromatization activity among the tested catalysts, the methane conversion being 9% at 1013 K with the selectivity to aromatics higher than 90%. The experimental results obtained from the variation of space velocity gave evidence that ethylene is an initial product. On the basis of these results a possible mechanism for methane dehydrogenation and aromatization has been proposed in which both the heterolytic splitting of methane in a solid acid environment and a molybdenum carbene-like complex as an intermediate are of significance. 相似文献

针对伊犁盆地某酸法地浸铀矿山的难浸出矿石,通过矿石的主要化学组分与主要矿物组分的研究,揭示难处理铀矿石特征组分差异。扫描电镜和化学分析结果表明,渗透性差、品位低、非目标矿物耗酸、氧化不敏感是矿样难浸出的主要原因。通过常压及加压搅拌试验和柱浸试验研究了不同种类的化学氧化剂对酸法地浸中难浸出铀矿物浸出的影响。试验结果表明,添加二氯异氰尿酸钠对该矿样的浸出有比较明显的促进作用,其他氧化剂的氧化改善作用不显著。结果还表明,氧化剂对氧气的氧化作用没有明显的协同效应,复合氧化的浸出改善效果不显著。 相似文献

Swimming pool water must be treated to prevent infections caused by microbial pathogens. In Korea, the most commonly used disinfection methods include the application of chlorine, ozone/chlorine, and a technique that uses electrochemically generated mixed oxidants (EGMOs). The purpose of this study was to estimate the concentrations of total trihalomethanes (TTHMs) in indoor swimming pools adopting these disinfection methods, and to examine the correlations between the concentrations of THMs and TTHMs and other factors affecting the production of THMs. We also estimated the lifetime cancer risks associated with various exposure pathways by THMs in swimming pools. Water samples were collected from 183 indoor swimming pools in Seoul, Korea, and were analyzed for concentrations of each THM, TOC, and the amount of KMnO4 consumption. The free chlorine residual and the pH of the pool water samples were also measured. The geometric mean concentrations of TTHMs in the swimming pool waters were 32.9 ± 2.4 µg/L for chlorine, 23.3 ± 2.2 µg/L for ozone/chlorine, and 58.2 ± 1.7 µg/L for EGMO. The concentrations of THMs differed significantly among the three treatment methods, and the correlation between THMs and TTHMs and the other factors influencing THMs varied. The lifetime cancer risk estimation showed that, while risks from oral ingestion and dermal exposure to THMs are mostly less than 10− 6, which is the negligible risk level defined by the US EPA, however swimmers can be at the greater risk from inhalation exposure (7.77 × 10− 4-1.36 × 10− 3). 相似文献

The inhibition of amyloid‐β (Aβ) aggregation by photo‐oxygenation has become an effective way of treating Alzheimer's disease (AD). New near‐infrared (NIR) activated treatment agents, which not only possess high photo‐oxygenation efficiency, but also show low biotoxicity, are urgently needed. Herein, for the first time, it is demonstrated that NIR activated black phosphorus (BP) could serve as an effective nontoxic photo‐oxidant for amyloid?β peptide in vitro and in vivo. The nanoplatform BP@BTA (BTA: one of thioflavin‐T derivatives) possesses high affinity to the Aβ peptide due to specific amyloid selectivity of BTA. Importantly, under NIR light, BP@BTA can significantly generate a high quantum yield of singlet oxygen (1O2) to oxygenate Aβ, thereby resulting in inhibiting the aggregation and attenuating Aβ‐induced cytotoxicity. In addition, BP could finally degrade into nontoxic phosphate, which guarantees the biosafety. Using transgenic Caenorhabditis elegans CL2006 as AD model, the results demonstrate that the 1O2‐generation system could dramatically promote life‐span extension of CL2006 strain by decreasing the neurotoxicity of Aβ. 相似文献
