This paper examines the performance of three fluid phase equations of state in predicting the available very high-pressure data of n-pentane, n-hexane, cyclohexane, toluene, dichloromethane, chloroform and methanol. It is assumed that the key for success at such pressures is establishing the appropriate interrelation between the densities of saturated liquids and the imaginary infinity pressure states. The recently proposed EOS that combines SAFT with the cohesive term of cubic EOS (SAFT + Cubic) most likely satisfies this criterion. According to this model, the saturated liquid densities at Tr = 0.4 are approximately 2.1 ± 0.1 times smaller than the densities predicted at the infinity pressure. With this ratio SAFT + Cubic yields reliable density estimations as far as the substances remain liquid (stable or metastable) in all the considered cases. Its pressure limit for accurate predictions of the auxiliary properties such as sound velocities and bulk moduli appear to be lower, typically around 1 GPa. 相似文献

Abstract Compressibility, density, and viscosity of natural gases are necessary in most petroleum engineering calculations. Some of these calculations are gas metering, gas compression, design of processing units, and design of pipeline and surface facilities. Properties of natural gases are also important in calculation of gas flow rate through reservoir rock, material balance calculations, and evaluation of gas reserves. Usually the gas properties are measured in laboratory. Occasionally, experimental data become unavailable and these properties are estimated from equations of state, corresponding state models or empirical correlations. This article presents the results of using various equations of state, corresponding state methods, and correlations to predict the volumetric and transport properties of sour gases and gas condensates. Capabilities of PR-EOS, SRK-EOS, and PT-EOS to predict gas compressibility and density of 2100 gas samples under various schemes of binary interaction number are thoroughly investigated. This study also reports a comparison between recently developed EOS-based viscosity models and other methods to estimate the viscosity of highly sour gases and rich gas condensates. 相似文献

Viscosity of heavy oils is a key parameter in designing potential enhanced oil recovery methods. The recently proposed semiempirical viscosity model by Lindeloff et al. (2004) was studied in depth. This model is the simplest yet powerful tool for medium-heavy oil viscosities. Based on the analysis, appropriate adjustments have been suggested, with the major one being the division of the pressure-viscosity profile into three different regions. New modifications have improved the overall fit, including the saturated viscosities at low pressures. The %AAD for the data sets studied was found to be 1.37.
