Encrypted Books: Mysteries that Fill Hundreds of Pages

Abstract

The cryptology literature and other sources mention several dozen books that are entirely or partially encrypted. However, a systematic treatise about this issue has never been made. This article aims to close this gap. The author has assembled a list of encrypted books that contains 41 entries, so far. Based on this list, an overview on encrypted books is given. Encrypted books are classified according to criteria like purpose, solved/unsolved, encryption method, and creation time. Numerous open research questions are identified. Finally, it is a goal of this article to ask readers for additional information about the books on the list and for encrypted books that are still missing.     

Thin-Wall Aluminum Die-Casting Technology for Development of Notebook Computer Housing

Silicon-based aluminum casting alloys are known to be one of the most widely used alloy systems mainly due to their superior casting characteristics and unique combination of mechanical and physical properties. However,manufacturing of thin-walled aluminum die-casting components,less than 1.0 mm in thickness,is generally known to be very difficult task to achieve aluminum casting alloys with high fluidity.Therefore,in this study,the optimal die-casting conditions for producing 297 mm×210 mm×0.7 mm thin-walled aluminum component was examined experimentally by using 2 different gating systems,tangential and split type,and vent design.Furthermore,computational solidification simulation was also conducted.The results showed that split type gating system was preferable gating design than tangential type gating system at the point of view of soundness of casting and distortion generated after solidification.It was also found that proper vent design was one of the most important factors for producing thin-wall casting components because it was important for the fulfillment of the thin-wall cavity and the minimization of the casting distortion.

University students’ notebook computer use

Recent evidence suggests that university students are self-reporting experiencing musculoskeletal discomfort with computer use similar to levels reported by adult workers. The objective of this study was to determine how university students use notebook computers and to determine what ergonomic strategies might be effective in reducing self-reported musculoskeletal discomfort in this population. Two hundred and eighty-nine university students randomly assigned to one of three towers by the university's Office of Housing participated in this study. The results of this investigation showed a significant reduction in self-reported notebook computer-related discomfort from pre- and post-survey in participants who received notebook computer accessories and in those who received accessories and participatory ergonomics training. A significant increase in post-survey rest breaks was seen. There was a significant correlation between self-reported computer usage and the amount measured using computer usage software (odometer). More research is needed however to determine the most effective ergonomics intervention for university students.     

基于JSP的网络通讯薄系统设计

利用JSP(Java Server Page)和JavaBean等技术,选用MS SQLserver作后台数据库,Tomcat5.5作服务器,eclipse作开发环境实现了一个B/S(浏览器/服务器)模式的网络通讯薄系统,并讨论了系统的设计、具体实现和jsp开发中一些常用的技术和技巧.该系统具由用户管理模块、记录浏览模块、记录添加模块、记录查找模块、记录修改模块和记录删除模块组成.读者通过少量的改动就可以将该系统加到自己的网页中,从而通过登录系统来查看和管理通讯薄系统.     

基于打印口的无线测控装置设计

分析了打印口的I/O特性;叙述了基于打印口的信息传送,用于“高炮激光射击训练模拟器”中各类信号遥测、遥控的无线测控装置设计实例。这个设计实例为野外军事训练装备的小型化和便携性,为笔记本电脑(不能扩充I／0板)用于实时检测和控制开拓一条途径。该装置设计性能在笔者研制开发的“高炮激光射击训练模拟器”项目上得到验证,并收到较好的效果。
