Reports an error in "When your top choice turns you down: Effect of rejected offers on the utility of selection tests" by Kevin R. Murphy (Psychological Bulletin, 1986[Jan], Vol 99[1], 133-138). There was an error in the last line of Table 1, which appears on page 137. The corrected version is presented in the erratum. (The following abstract of the original article appeared in record 1986-15964-001.) Develops formulas for calculating the average ability of job candidates actually selected when the proportion of initial offers accepted is less than 100%. Three cases are considered: (a) those in which offers are declined at random, (b) those in which offers are declined by the highest-scoring applicants, and (c) those in which test scores are related to the probability of accepting an offer. It is shown that under realistic circumstances, utility formulas currently used could overestimate utility gains by 30–80% and that, under extreme circumstances, overestimation could be much worse. Coaching CEO successor candidates is challenging and deeply nuanced in the best of circumstances. The stakes rise exponentially when the sitting CEO owns the company, resents having "anointed" an eventual successor, and has been phenomenally successful despite the bruising effects of his narcissism and toxic micromanagement. This case study describes how a data-driven, insight-oriented coaching methodology helped the CEO candidate accelerate his effectiveness, instill hope in the organization, and forge a more stable relationship with the CEO--a sufficiently functional relationship for the future CEO to decide to remain with the company. Furthermore, this work highlights the importance of clinical skills and 3 coaching meta principles (traction, trust, and truth-telling). Finally, this longer term coaching engagement illustrates the dynamic role shift from coach to trusted advisor. Through this deepened relationship, coaching gains were consolidated and an objective sounding board was retained for both the CEO and his eventual successor. Background: In recent years, many achievements have been realized in the therapy of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) although its etiology remains unknown. Thus IBD treatment is symptomatic and targets general inflammatory mechanisms. Oral formulations containing 5-aminosalicylic acid (5-ASA) have become the standard therapy for mild-to-moderate IBD.Objective: This article is a review of recently published research dealing with new 5-ASA dosage forms. Thus promising candidates for IBD treatment evaluated in vitro are reported; systems tested in vivo in trinitrobenzene sulfonic acid (TNBS)-induced colitis in rats are mentioned; and 5-ASA formulations used in clinical studies are presented. Moreover, all oral dosage forms containing 5-ASA or its prodrugs are reviewed; their characteristics and utilization in IBD treatment are discussed.Conclusion: In several clinical studies, it has been shown that multiparticulates such as pellets offer more advantages as compared with single unit forms, that is, coated tablets. Prolonged presence close to the site of the action, improved drug bioavailability, and easier administration of large drug doses belong to the benefits of pellets. 相似文献

通过对已有的诸关联规则挖掘与更新算法进行深入的分析和研究,指出了其共同存在的问题与不足,提出了一种基于项目集知识库的关联规则挖掘与更新方法。该方法既适应当数据库D中数据不变而用户指定的最小支持度和最小置信度这两个阈值变化的情况,也适合事务数据库D中数据发生变化的情况。当事务数据库D中数据不变时,仅需扫描数据库一次,便可建立项目集知识库KBD,然后可反复调整最小支持度和最小置信度进行关联规则挖掘与更新。而当事务数据库D中数据发生变化时,仅需扫描数据集d 和d-各一次;通过对项目集知识库KBD的更新来达到对频繁项目集和关联规则的更新。 相似文献

This paper presents a novel approach for localising open and short boundary defect candidates on ball grid array (BGA) substrate
conducting paths by using a 2D wavelet transform (2D WT). Once the potential defects are identified, traditional printed circuit
board (PCB) inspection algorithms can focus on these candidates for further analysis to identify true open and short defects.
The defect-detecting scope and the inspection effort are thereby significantly reduced. The binary BGA substrate image is
processed. It shows only the boundaries of BGA substrate conducting paths, which are further decomposed directly by 2D WT.
Since most of the wavelet energy is clustered at the edges of image objects, the wavelet transform modulus sum (WTMS) of each
edge pixel on BGA substrate conducting path boundaries is initially collected. By comparing the WTMS of an edge pixel on decomposition
level j with its WTMS on an adjacent decomposition level j + 1, an across-level ratio can be estimated to verify the irregularity of an edge pixel. That is, an edge pixel is classified
as strongly irregular (e.g. potential open or short defects) if its across-level ratio reaches a predefined threshold. The
proposed approach is template-free and easy to implement, so it is suitable for small-batch production. Real BGA substrates
with synthetic boundary defects are used as test samples to evaluate the performance of the proposed approach. Experimental
results show that the proposed method is capable of capturing all the open and short defects on BGA substrate conducting paths
without missing any errors by using a selected across-level ratio threshold and appropriate decomposition level. 相似文献
