Cooperative Diversity in Wireless Mobile Communication

Recently, a new class of methods called cooperative diversity has been proposed, which can be used in cell network, ad hoc network and etc. It enables single antenna mobiles in a multi-user environment to share their antennas and generate a virtual multi-antenna transmitter that allows them to achieve transmit diversity. In this paper we introduce this new technology in such aspects as system model, system capability and the methods of cooperation. Finally we point out some problems still existing in the system.
