Elastic-plastic fem calculations of the stress distribution of notches with different geometry |

| Abstract: | A two-dimensional elasto-plastic finite element analysis of double notched rectangular tensile specimens with different notch geometries has been performed. The maximum value of stress concentration below the notch is given as function of the applied stress for varying notch radius and notch angles. The results of the finite element method are compared with the predictions of the slip line theory. |
