| 摘 要： | 本文研究了远程数学，ＬＡＮ互连、医疗图像传递和业务量聚集这４种宽带应用的特点，并说明了用于支持这些宽带应用的技术－异步转移模式（ＡＴＭ）。ＡＴＭ之所以被选用是因为它能灵活支持这些应用的千差万别的需要。本文讨论的正是ＡＴＭ技术的直接应用。

| Abstract: | This paper examines the characteristics of four broadband applications. They are distance Iearning, LAN interconnect, medical imaging and traffic aggregation applications. In addition, it identifies the technologv used to support these broadband applications-Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM). ATM is chosen because of its flexibility to support the vastly distinct requirements of these applications. The four applications discussed in this paper are considered as the immediate beneficiaries of ATM technology. |
