Practice of ferric ball production with pyrite cinder for blast furnace feed

A plant to produce 1 200 kt/a high-quality ferric ball feed with pyrite cinder for blast furnace is intro- duced. Pyrite cinder from pyrite-based sulphuric acid plant and iron powder were ground under high pressure af- ter mixing, and then pelletizing agent was added to obtain green balls. Green balls were made into finished balls through screening, two-stage drying, high temperature roasting and cooling. The plant was put into commission at the beginning of 2009, and ran stably after local revamping. The system reaches the designed capacity and production standards, achieving economic and social benefits.
